Hey there!
I'm a 35-year-old American who's called the UK home for the past 5 years, and I'm on the lookout for some new in person friends. Currently living and working in London and despite traveling all over the world, realized London is my favorite city. Bonus points if you're up for meeting my two fluffy dogs – because, let's be honest, having dogs is a cheat code when it comes to making friends in the UK.
By day, I'm a product manager in the city, but my journey has taken me through some interesting twists, including time in the US Army and a stint at a luxury fashion company.
Outside of the 9 to 5 grind, you'll find me picking things up and putting them down at the gym bright and early in the morning. I've stuck to my 2023 New Year's resolution and have gone to the gym quite regularly; it's become a source of pride. I've also recently gotten into reformer Pilates to increase my mobility. If you're a fellow gym rat who competes with no one but the person you were yesterday, we're bound to hit it off.
I'm also into improv comedy – I take classes and perform whenever I can. Originally, it was my way of finding a practical application for acting without fully committing to a career in it. It's been super helpful, especially in dealing with feelings of anxiety as well. If you're an improv geek too, I'd love to hear your experiences.
The pandemic lockdown brought out the mixologist in me, thanks to binging Mad Men. I love experimenting with cocktails and if you have a favorite cocktail and don't mind providing the ingredients, I'd be happy to try and craft it for you! Despite never working in hospitality before (does being a busboy as a teenager for a week count?), I finished a week-long bartending course and have a new found respect for bartenders and all the stuff they have to do day in and day out. If you're a bartender or have ever worked as one, would love to chat with you about your experiences!
And of course, I'm pretty basic too with your typical interests – sports (NCAA Football and NFL Football, with Army and the San Francisco 49ers as my teams), video games (League of Legends Wild Rift mainly, but really hopeful that EA Sports College Football 25 comes out on PC at some point because I don't have a PS or Xbox), and TV shows (Succession, Better Call Saul/Breaking Bad, and Mad Men are my absolute favorites). I'm also trying to get in to reading for pleasure (currently reading Childhood's End by Arthur C. Clarke) and DIY-ing (recently bought a house and fixing what I can YouTube) but man do I have to work at it.

Hey y'all, I have a physical Ventra card that I've used for years, with autoload set up. Now that folks can use tap to pay with credit cards and their phones, is there any point in holding onto the card? Or would it actually be better to use a credit card to get rewards? Do you still use a ventra card? I've heard the credit card method still works for transfers as well. Thanks y'all!

Anyone else having this issue? Our parcels are being left on our doorstep (an area that's in full view of anyone walking past). Most of the time, we're in and they're not bothering to knock or ring the bell. What's the best way to deal with the situation? I've spoken to Amazon numerous times over the years, but up until recently, never really had any issues with Royal Mail.

I have educational advice for new plasma donors who may be considering to try it out and earn extra money:

  1. Eat a meal high in protein 2-3 hours before donating, but your plasma protein levels depend on what you ate the day before.
  2. Drink plenty of water and/or non-caffeinated juice before donating to stay hydrated. It's important to stay hyrdrated at least the day before, and the day of your donation.
  3. Avoid caffeine such as in coffee or soda before donating or you may get nauseous and vomit or faint during your donation.
  4. No alcohol 24 hours before, and for a little while after donating.
  5. No exercising for at least 6 hours after donating as it can put too much stress on the vein.
  6. Some people get away with smoking or vaping nicotine before and after donating, but it's recommended not to for 2 hours before and after. The nicotine can raise your heart's pulse rate.
  7. If your pulse rate is 100 or above, you'll be able to do a vitals retake after a 15 minute wait. But if it's 100 or higher again you'll be deferred for the day. If your pulse rate is an issue, listen to "Pink Noise" or "Green Noise" at a low volume before donating which may help reduce your pulse rate, along with its effect on lowering your blood pressure.
  8. There is a risk of getting a blown vein if the worker is having a hard time finding your vein when they're sticking you with the needle or if you have small veins. You may get deferred until your vein heals if that happens. But it's ok, your body is able to regenerate your veins with a process called Angiogenesis.
  9. There is a risk of blood clots, but when your blood is constantly moving through the machine it prevents that from happening.
  10. You may be subject to drug screening. The drug screening tests for methamphetamines, cocaine, and heroin. Certain pharma prescription meds may show up as a false positive so you'll want to let the plasma center know what meds you're taking. Testing positive for these drugs can result in a permanent deferral from donating plasma.
  11. A sample of your blood will be drawn periodically to test for certain sexually transmitted infections (STIs). A positive test will result in either a temporary or permanent deferral from donating plasma. If you've ever been diagnosed or received treatment for HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B (HBV) or Hepatitis C (HCV) you will be permanently deferred from donating plasma.
Donating Plasma with Managed Diabetes
Individuals with well-controlled diabetes can contribute to plasma donation, but certain criteria need to be met:
Absence of Complications: This means no existing diabetic complications affecting your kidneys, heart, blood vessels, or eyes.
Insulin Independence: If you rely on insulin for diabetes management, a three-month waiting period is required after using needles for non-prescribed medications. Additionally, you must be free of symptoms or treatment needs related to blood sugar fluctuations (high or low) for the past three months.
  1. Healthy Feet: Active foot ulcers requiring medical attention will disqualify you from donation.
  2. Steady Balance: You shouldn't experience dizziness or lightheadedness upon standing.
  3. Type 1 Consideration: For Type 1 diabetics, eating within two hours of donation is mandatory.

The title.
I ended up completely engorged and leaking through my bra and shirt infront of family yesterday. Luckily we were at home so could change my shirt. Pumping alone for 20+ minutes, and then feeding baby for another 15 minutes alone (because I’m not playing pass/feed the baby) while everyone else mingles is so isolating. Then trying to stick to the every 2 hour schedule to keep my supply going is so next to impossible when no one understands how sensitive keeping a supply steady can be.

About 2 months ago, I spoke to my psychiatrist about my recent struggle to focus and she prescribed duloxetine 30mg to me. I was skeptical at first because I’m already on a lot of meds, but she told me my ADHD meds were already at the highest dose, so this might work. I gave it a try. It didn’t do a lot, my focus got a little better but my heart rate went way up. I decided to ask her recently if it was okay for me to stop, to which she said that it was fine. Since I stopped taking it, the withdrawal symptoms have been a nightmare. I did some research and I saw a lot of people saying that you should never stop taking duloxetine suddenly, that you should always lower it progressively. A few nights ago I was feeling so sick and messed up mentally that I was debating whether to call an ambulance or not. I contacted my psychiatrist and told her what was going on, she told me that 30mg was the lowest dose possible (they were in capsules) and that there was no way of being more progressive. I was desperate, so I asked her 1. How long the withdrawal symptoms usually last and 2. If I could maybe take one every other day. She proceeded to leave me on read. Until I find a new psychiatrist, which could honestly take months, I don’t know how I should proceed with lowering the dose by myself. I have 30 pills of duloxetine left. Would it be better to divide what’s inside the capsules like certain people say, should I take one every two days or should I just not start again?

I have a Galaxy Watch6 paired to a Galaxy S23 Ultra. Those are both very premium devices, that were the best Samsung products of their lineups last year.
With the latest One UI 6 Watch update, I was happy to get the energy score feature, but also the following feature : "Smarter replies with AI Respond to messages quickly with AI-generated replies tailored to the message you received. Suggested replies will appear when you view a message notification. Replies are generated on your phone so your messages remain private. Works with phones running One UI 6.1.1 or higher that support AI Suggested replies."
However, I just learned that this feature is only supported starting on the S24 Series and ZFold/Flip 6. Listen, there is absolutely no reasons why the S23 Ultra, a perfectly capable phone, with all the other AI features, wouldn't get this one. It's because Samsung doesn't want us, poor S23 users to have it. And because of that, they're expecting me to pay full price for a new device, even tho I paid a lot last year for my perfectly capable S23 Ultra? That's absolutely insane. They should stop doing this, because these kinds of practices are really disgusting.

Hello, I'm currently in the Market for a gaming Laptop ( a laptop in particular because I can not afford and don't have the space for a desktop PC ) . I'm not really privy to the whole PC Gaming scene so that's why I'm trying to ask the Ogs in this scene. To preface why I'm looking for what I'm looking for, I got a steam deck for Christmas last year and I love it, and while steam OS is great, I really would like the windows experience as they're are certain things a steam deck just cannot do unfortunately. I didn't know any better and I thought that it would be able to run Ps3 games well then I found out how wrong I was. While it can run some games it's not the games I really want to play as I'm a nostalgic nerd who wants to play old school hd era Spider-Man era at a higher run speed. Edge of Time in particular as that does not have a PC port. I've heard the ally can do this but I'm hesitant to get it cause I heard unlike the deck the touchscreen is abysmal. I also kinda wanted a laptop so I could get some working use out of it as well like for assignments and what not.
Okay, down to the real question. I'm looking for a gaming PC mainly to emulate Spider-Man Edge at 60 fps for PS3 and play more high end PC games like Arkham Knight to Black Myth Wukong. I wanted to something in the price range of 300 to 500 as I'm not trying to destroy my parents wallet for a gaming laptop. If this is not possible I'm willing to buy upgrades, like ram and all that. I'm just looking for a good I think CPU or storage.
P.s, how easy is it to upgrade as I said I'm not tech privy, for example when I was trying to upgrade my P.S Vita I ended up stripping a screw..I would very much like to avoid that for this.

First time I seriously try do that.
Nets earn two firsts at the cost of getting two bad contracts (you can argue with MPJ's one being bad though, but I think it is).
Nuggets make their team deeper, especially if Bogdanovic plays at the same level of last year, and also they'll have more space to sign a free agent this summer (I don't know the signing rules very well by the way).
Two firsts might seem too much but in 2026 the Nuggets should still be very good so the pick won't be low and the 2031's is protected.
