2024.11.29 16:32 Chief2504 Beginner Board Game Help Part 2 - Playing Surface & Game Types
So my wife and I decided to start playing board games instead of streaming TV and scrolling on the phones. I had a good thread last week asking for different games to play. Now I need your help to make sure I have a good variety of "game types". What would you add as a gateway game to round out the "types" of games that I own? I want to make sure I am not owning too many tile games as an example or maybe I am completely missing a "type" of game. I don't know all the game types that are out there.
Here is what I bought so far:
- Azul - We are loving this one!
- Cascadia - Definitely has been enjoyable!
- Carcassonne - Was quick & easy to start playing
- Everdell - Have not played yet
- New York Zoo - Have not played yet just ordered from Barnes& Noble today was on sale for $19.99
- Pandemic - Attempted to play without knowing how and got a little frustrated will attempt after watching some gameplay video
- Settlers of Catan - Played once about 10 years ago
- Wingspan - Have not played yet
- Lost Cities - Played once about 8 years ago
Surface Question: What should I buy to improve the playing surface? We have a very slick tabletop and the tiles are moving around like crazy!

2024.11.29 16:32 Boneyard_Ben How do you learn about the stereotypes associated with foreign names?
So in the world I'm currently making, I writing a country similar to that of ancient China and I was looking up Chinese names for people when I realized I don't know what the stereotypes and first impressions one would expect from those names are.
To put it into perspective, when you hear a name like Paul or Bob, you'd probably think of some unremarkable guy working a white collar office job, whereas if you hear of a guy named something like Anthony or Zander you'd picture someone a little more impressive.
Another example is, let's say you're in a fantasy world and the final boss is someone with some over the top title like "The Supreme Demon Lord", or "The Heavenly King", or "He who brings death and destruction upon all who oppose" but his real name attached to it is something like Marty or Marvin. Doesn't really fit with it, does it?
So with that in mind, you can see why I can't just throw darts and a list of baby names.

I'm currently 14 and today I got into some gaming apps like Winzo and MPL I ended up losing ₹1000 (around $12) Now I know $12 might not seem like much but in India ₹1000 is a significant amount Here's the real issue my mom is a single mother and my dad passed away when I was 3 In a place like India single mothers often face judgment and are unfairly stereotyped like they are sluts. Despite that my mom has been raising me on her own for over a decade Right now she's struggling under 4 lakh (about $4,800) of debt which is enough money here in india to support a family of 4 if used accordingly for an entire year her financial situation is so tight that the ₹1,000 I lost was all she had left in her account She needed it for a month's bus fare to get to work and house and I gambled it away thinking I could make more and help her from her problems Now I've not only failed to help her but have made things worse I feel like I've let her down completely If she finds out I can't even imagine the look on her face I feel useless, worthless just like my fathernl don't know if I should run away or disappear but I needed to get this off my chest And before you wonder why I'm feeling this way over just $12 remember it might be less for you but for me in india it's an enormous amount especially when you're in a debt nonetheless anyways I just wanted a place to open up and speak my mind for the last time I opened reddit just for this anyways umm see you :) thanks for listening me out btw has anyone ever been through something similar I need someone to talk I can't I just want to talk to someone right now :)

2024.11.29 16:32 CarISatan PC: Is it at all possible to equip specific weapon + ammo to a specific keyboard key?
Scenario: Mid battle, I want to change from spike thrower or sharpshot bow to hunter bow (using standard ammo). Never had problems with this on any game before.
If I assign hunter bow to key "1" (or mouse scroll up) it will just equip what ever ammo I used last, which is terrible way of building muscle memory, and I really rather not have to check in the corner what ammo is assigned each time.
Using quick swap solves this, but I find it very hard to press they key quickly enough not to bring up the weapon wheel briefly, besides it only works with 2 weapons. Am I missing something?

Currently I’m taking Prednisone for my Costchondritis (chest inflammation) I’m only taking 10mg. 5day sample. I started at 6 one day then 5 the next, 4 the next, etc until it gets to one. The pain has subsided slightly but it’s much better than what it was.
But I noticed that i have been feeling some sting at the end of the penis where the groin is. Not the tip of the penis. I’m not sure what it is but it feels weird.
However to be noted. I did pull a muscle in my testicles when I jerked off. I’m not sure that’s what it is. Any help would be appreciated or if this is a normal feeling when you take prednisone?

Hey guys, I need advice on how to handle a situation with a friend. I have a small art account on tiktok and instagram but ultimately i want to be an artist full time. I work a 10-7pm corporate job every day which can be draining. I’m nowhere near a professional at art yet which is why it takes me a long time to create and my job takes up most of my time.
I have a friend who loves my art work but I’m feeling a bit iffy towards her these days. I made around 6 illustrations for her for free for her youtube account. At first I didn’t mind because I wanted to help her account grow. But I have a feeling that shes taking me for granted. While we were hanging out one day, she told me and a friend that she easily could do what I do but she’d rather seek help from a friend. I found it incredibly discrediting but I let it slide. Nowadays, shes relying on me to make illustrations for free for her every season, so that would be 4x per year. Keep in mind that i’m not only doing illustrations for free but i’m also helping her film videos on the side as well.
I sent her an illustration last night and I woke up to two long paragraphs nitpicking my mistakes on the art because I forgot details that she requested such as the specific colour of blue that she wanted. She sent two paragraphs and the only gratitude I can pick out of those texts was a single “Thanks. Love it so far.”
I guess my question is: do i have the right to be irritated? How would you feel if you were in my situation?
