Tossing and turning over starting Bo Nix or Mahomes. Both have favorable matchups, but both scare me at the same time. Someone put me out of my misery and help me decide!

Flower Sign Tutorial Good Morning all! As promised, here is a written tutorial for my flower sign with photos. If the photos won't link properly, I may just need to do something in Google drive and send it.
  1. You will need your BTS logo. I went to Google, found a nice clear image, scaled it up in photoshop, and printed it in Adobe Acrobat using the "poster" option.
If you don't know how to do this, I can upload the one I used. All you'll have to do is print it. This one is really, really big. 4ft tall. You may want something smaller. If that's the case, you can scale down the print size percentage.
  1. Once you have printed, cut out, and taped your pattern together, you'll take your measurements with you to your local big box home improvement store. I went to Lowes, as it is the closest to me. You're looking for insulation foam sheets.
Warning: These sheets are HUGE. They will not cut them down for you. I highly recommend that you bring a box cutter with you/buy a box cutter at the store. My preferred bran is Ofla. It's yellow and has a wheel that locks the blade in place. It's the best one out there.
You don't need the super thick one. I bought the half inch thick sheets. It was $18 and I could make 3 signs out of it if I wanted.
If you have a truck, you're good. You can leave it whole. If you don't, you'll want to cut it down to fit in your caSUV. Just don't cut it smaller than what you need for your sign.
  1. Lay out your pattern on the foam, use a permanent marker to trace it. You'll notice I left the center of my pattern in the design. I did this for stability and because we won't have to measure the two halves to make sure it's correct every time we want to display it for an event. Secondly, I plan on hiding a battery pack behind there for lights. Just trim the middle portion down a bit, like in my photos.
  2. Using a good, long (preferably metal) ruler, use your box cutter to cut out the design. Do one side at a time and make many shallow passes. Don't rush this, you're working with foam. It could snap and break. I cut on an old work table so when the blade passed through the foam and scored the surface, I didn't care. If you are using a dining room table or something like that, put cardboard beneath it to catch the blade and prevent damage.
  3. Next you'll use your ruler to draw long strips of foam. You want them to be as long as your longest side with a few inches of overhang. This way you can cut your angles. Cut them out just like the original pattern. Multiple passes, try to keep your blade straight.
  4. Assembly time! Using Gorilla glue (white cap, non-expanding) glue the inside lines first by placing the stips on top of the pattern itself, unless you want a shallow center and then you can glue the strip to the outside of your pattern. Use painters tape to hold it in place. Let set, takes about 20 minutes, and then lay your box cutter against the bottom of your pattern and CAREFULLY follow the lip to cut the correct angle. This is why you need to leave overhang.
  5. Repeat step 6 for the outside, larger edges of your pattern.
  6. The bottoms and tops will be hot glued into place to the base pattern BUT you will use gorilla glue to join the corner together. You want to make sure the sides are all even with one another. Depending on how you did the sides (glued to the top or pattern or along the perimeter), there may be a small gap. This is how mine was. I put painters tape beneath it and filled the gap with hot glue.
  7. Once everything is assembled, it's sealing time! You may use PVA glue, Mod Podge, or regular paint for this. The foam HAS to be sealed because we will spray paint it. If it's not sealed, and you go a little heavy handed with the paint, it will eat through the foam and you will cry. Make sure you cover everything. Even a little area left exposed can cause melting during the spray paint phase.
  8. Enter flower work. I used the uncolored sola wooden flowers for my sign. They were on SUPER sale. In total, I used 2.25 bags. I believe each bag holds 100 flowers. They attach perfectly with hot glue. You may use any faux flower you'd like. We will be spray painting them, so the color shouldn't matter too much. Just remember you will never get into every nook and cranny, so there will be some color showing through.
  9. Spray painting. I started with the darker purple at the top. HOLD THE CAN AT LEAST 12-15 INCHES AWAY FROM YOUR PROJECT. You will be doing light coats, letting it dry for a minute or two, and doing another coat. One coat at a time or it will eat through your foam. Trust me. Please.
Make sure you spray from multiple angles, doing your best to get inside of the flowers. If you see hot glue strings, leave them until it's dry and you can knock them away.
  1. I sprayed my dark purple heaviest at the top and then held the can further back towards the middle. This is way you will overlap the lighter purple, again, holding it at a higher point to try to blend the two paints. You want that ombre look. Repeat for the bottom.
  2. I did multiple passes to even it out and get it to my liking. You'll come to find the right angles and distance for you.
  3. Let dry 24 hours.
  4. You can assemble hanging hardware on the back after this point and enjoy!
If you want to be extra, you can poke holes in between the flowers and use led strips or fairy lights on the back of your sign to incorporate light. I highly recommend anything better powered or remote control activated to prevent cords or having to get up and unplug anything.
