2024.11.29 18:34 Weirdo00xx Why would my application say “completed” if I received a rejection e-mail?

I went to an Emirates assessment day and made all 3 rounds to the final interview. The next day, in less than 24 hours, I received a rejection e-mail.
The weird thing is, my application on the Emirates website still says “Completed” and not “Not Progressed”. Plus I am able to modify the application and it gives me the option to submit.
Is this normal?

Baby Owl's Big Adventure: Aunt Ralin! Today was Owl's first visit with Mama's family! Mama wanted to have an easy start, and decided to start with her best friend and sister, Auntie Ralin.
“Where are we going, Mama?” Baby Owl inquired. “To visit Auntie Ralin, Hooty!” Mama and Baby walked through the fields, down the road, over rocks and across the water until they arrived at a large city.
“Are we gonna visit her home, mama?” Mama Cat smiled at her baby. She picked Owl up and placed her onto her back. Now that they were in a big city, Owl could get lost! She's just a baby in such a big city, Mama had to make sure she stayed close.
“No, baby. We're visiting her at her restaurant! Ralin's Rest, greatest breakfast you'll ever have.~” Baby Owl's ears went back, the idea of being in a big restaurant with people made her a little scared.
“Do you want to get it to go, Hooty?” Mama Cat asked. “No,” said Baby Owl, “I'll be okay. I have mama.”
Her ears returned to normal, and the two entered the diner.
Baby Owl saw the large groups of people, all talking and moving, there must have been 100 people in the restaurant! Mama felt her shake, and gave her a hug.
Baby Owl clung to her mama to help calm down, but it was so loud. So many secrets! Mama Cat was always prepared, though.
“Don't worry, my Hooty. Mama is always ready.” Mama gave her baby a smooch, and Baby Owl felt the sounds lessen. “Better, baby?” She could hear mama Cat perfectly, but the secrets still tried coming in.
“Just focus on mama, that's all you need to do.”
She looked at mama, and felt the secrets go quiet. It was just mama and her. Ahhh, so much quieter. There were still so many people, but now her sensitive little ears weren't hurting.
As Mama and Baby sat in their booth, they looked at the menu together. When it was time to order, Mama Cat got the biggest smile.
“Well, now what do we have here! Two kitties, in my neck of the woods?” Auntie Ralin said with a laugh. “Look at you, Owl! You're such a big girl! I haven't seen you in weeks, but I know it's been years for you!”
Owl's tail began to move and her ears got so perky as she saw her auntie. She opened her little arms for a hug, and purred so happily as her big auntie gave her a squeeze. She didn't remember her, but that hug felt familiar.
“Well, what can I get for you two?” Auntie asked. “Pancakes,” Owl said, “with lots and lots of syrup!” Auntie gave a thumbs up and hopped to the kitchen.
Mama and Baby sat, resting in the booth, baby Owl resting against Mama and purring. When it was time to eat, Auntie brought their plates personally.
“I'm taking my break,” Auntie yelled to her crew. “Keep things running smoothly, got it?” Mama, Baby and Auntie sat and ate together. It was all so yummy, baby Owl couldn't stop purring! Each bite she made her favorite yummy sound: ”Nyorf, Nyorf, Nyorf!”
It was such a delicious breakfast, it made Baby Owl so happy! But, now she was all full and sleepy.
“Mmm, mama, I'm sleepy…” She said with a big yawn and a big stretch. “But, I wanna visit, and be brave…”
Auntie Ralin laughed, and the two suddenly felt themselves lifted. “I'm taking some family time, I'll be back tomorrow!”
With one mighty hop, the family found themselves at Ralin's home. Baby Owl felt so bad for being sleepy, but she needed a little nap. With a yawn and a stretch, she curled up on Auntie and drifted off.
When Baby Owl awoke, she looked up to see her still on Auntie's back. Auntie and Mama were talking, laughing and smiling.
“Oh, you're awake!” Said auntie Ralin. “Well, now that you're awake, how about we play?”
Baby Owl purred at the idea of play, she always loved to play!
“Can we play checkers, auntie?”
Ralin laughed and picked Baby Owl up with a smile. Mama smiled as she walked with them, wanting to spectate their bonding.
As Baby and Auntie played, game after game and learning about each other, Baby could see auntie was strong and smart!
“Auntie,” baby Owl started, “would you like to make a contract? You're so wise and strong!”
Ralin smiled and gave Baby a pat on the head. “Your mama told me about your powers. Gladly, little Owl! If you're ever in danger, or scared, or need someone to talk to, your Auntie Ralin will be there.”
Owl's tail swished happily as the contract appeared, a call for aid from Auntie Ralin. Her strength would make any danger seem like nothing, and her ability to plan ahead would surely come in handy!
Baby Owl pressed her paw onto the scroll, making it official.
Baby Owl had so much fun playing with Auntie, she didn't even realize how much time had passed! She let out a biiiig yawn as she crawled down to Mama Cat.
“I'm sleepy, mama…” Baby Owl said. “Can we go home?”
“Nonsense!” Auntie Ralin interjected. “I insist you stay with me. I'll make you both a delicious breakfast in the morning and then you can be on your way.”
“Well, Hooty? Do you wish to spend the night at Auntie's?”
Owl nodded, and jumped into Auntie's arms. With one big yawn and one big stretch, Baby Owl fell right asleep.
“What a precious little thing,” auntie Ralin said, “I'll do whatever I can to protect you. Promise, Baby Owl.”

2024.11.29 18:34 takamichan Nervous to start chemo; need advice

I’m supposed to start chemo this Monday 12/2 at 10:30am. The thought of it makes me sick. For several reasons, I don’t feel ready.
First of all, I’m undecided between 2 hospitals. The hospital I’m at now, Good Samaritan in West Islip (Long Island) has been an incredible experience thus far (from diagnosis to lumpectomy/node removal). However, I’m uncertain about it moving forward.
They want to proceed with 4 rounds of TC 3 weeks apart, which is standard. They don’t have cold cap machines and also said I wouldn’t need a port, IV is fine.
I got my second opinion at Zuckerberg Cancer Center at Northwell and that doctor presented the option of CMF, 8 rounds 2 weeks apart instead of TC. She came up with this option because there is no risk of neuropathy and that’s incredibly important to me b/c I make my living playing guitar, piano, flute. The thought of experiencing neuropathy that might not reverse is basically a death sentence to my career (and soul). This doctor also insisted that I get a port either way; she said TC is caustic to the veins which is contrary to what Good Samaritan said. Id like to error on the side of caution. Also, I only have my right arm left because the nodes were taken from the left and it’s basically become a bruised up pin cushion from fertility appointments.
I like that this (Northwell) doctor presented me with another option for chemo that was thoughtful of my lifestyle. I also liked that she was thoughtful about my veins. She was also concerned that Good Sam hadn’t started me on physical therapy yet. I was 3 weeks out of the lumpectomy at the time of our meeting.
Typing all of this out, I think I am leaning toward Northwell for chemo. They also have cold cap machines, not that it would apply for CMF because people don’t lose their hair typically with that chemo, but the fact that they even have the machines in-house speaks to me. My hesitance is I guess getting to know a whole new staff, new doctors, nurses, etc. seems daunting.
Also, my Onco at Good Sam said she’d be willing to do the CMF at the same dose. My concern is that she hadn’t brought it up in the first place. I feel like the Northwell doctor is probably more experienced with it. She was definitely more preemptive with the port and physical therapy and it makes me wonder what other details Good Sam might be missing. Not sure what to do here, any insight from those more experienced would be amazing.
35F ++- Stage 1a, Luminal B, Grade 3, ki-67 40%
Also may be relevant: Northwell doc stated CMF is not as widely used anymore because it’s not as effective as TC, however given at dose she recommended said it just as effective. Good Sam doc confirmed this.

I lost my ten year old dog Tilly a few weeks ago and I am having a super hard time adjusting. She was my constant companion for a decade. She got a tumor and became ill and we couldn’t afford the blood work appointments and surgeries she needed to even see if the cancer had spread/to take the tumor. It would be over $1,600 dollars to start and I work as a paraprofessional and my husband is a cook, we are working our way back up but are just in a tough spot financially until I finish up grad school. I had a job where I made a lot more money but, I lost that position and the bump in income that came with it. We weren’t prepared for that loss. I thought we had more time to save up but we just didn’t manage to and then it was too late. I have been beating myself up over that and maybe I should. It’s just been really hard. Our other dog Penny was distraught for days, looking for her everywhere even in the car when we would return from work. It breaks my heart for her. I know she’s probably lonely. She’s always had a companion. I just think about Tilly all day basically every day. I miss her snuggles and the way she slept right next to me every night. I miss the way her ears flapped in the wind in the car on rides. I miss asking her to “give me a hug” and her jumping up on my chest and putting her legs out on my shoulders to “hug me”. I miss the way she rubbed her belly on the grass. I miss it all. It hit me pretty hard and recently that i will never see her again. i wished i believed in the after life, so i could believe that i would see her again, but i can’t make myself believe despite trying. The point is, I miss her. I can’t move on. I feel silly but it just hurts.

2024.11.29 18:34 Hinged2020 Yet Another GV60 Recall

Here we go again. For the fourth time in as many months, the Hyundai/Kia/Genesis EV lines are under a safety recall. This time its the software that controls the 12V recharge function. My situation is made worse by the fact that Genesis has closed retailers around San Diego and Riverside Counties, putting the burden on an already struggling after-thought of a dealership, Genesis of Kearney Mesa. They're so overwhelmed they can't even answer the phones. I love the car, but these repeated trips to an out-of-the-way, Subaru dealer posing as a Genesis dealer, have worn me out.
These cars are built on Hyundai's global EV platform, E-GMP, but only techs from your car's badged brand can work on them. In other words, I can't take my GV60 around the corner to convenient Kia and Hyundai dealers, which seems absurdly inefficient.
Lacking an alternative, I'm seriously contemplating invoking the Song-Beverly Warranty act--California's Lemon Law.
