But I prefer a product manager who understands people deeply.
Here's why:
Early in my career,
I worked with a product manager who wasn't the most technical.
They weren’t a detail freak either.
One day, I was struggling with a project and tried to push through alone.
He noticed and said, "Let's figure this out together."
A small gesture, but it spoke volumes.
That's when I realized the value of empathy in product management.
Now when I consider any team, the product manager is my top factor.
3 things I look for:
- User Empathy
- Do they understand the user's pain points?
- Have they spent time talking to real users?
- Are they driven by user feedback?
- Team Collaboration
- Do they value input from all team members?
- Do they create a space for open communication?
- Do they ensure everyone's voice is heard?
- Vision and Strategy
- Are they clear about the product's direction?
- Do they align the team with the product goals?
- Do they adapt to changes and new insights?
Look for examples of their past work.
Observe their interactions with the team.
You're not just building a product, you're also building a team.
A great product manager drives the team and product forward.
A poor product manager can lead to misalignment and failure.
Choose wisely.

Hey all!
I’m graduating with my undergraduate degree this upcoming December, and will be starting graduate school in a new a state in January. I am extremely fortunate to be advancing my education, but am worried about living alone for the first time. The state I’m moving to for my grad program does not contain any connections (friends, family, etc). My whole life I’ve always lived with another person (family, siblings, friends, roommates, bf, etc). I love being around people- and worry about feeling extreme loneliness and homesickness when moving away. I want to prevent this from happening by getting out of my apartment and spending time outdoors, but as a petite young woman I have a lot of fears and anxiety concerning my safety (when walking around alone in cities before I’ve been approached and followed to my car and it’s honestly really terrifying). I guess my question is for young women who have lived alone before- how can I prevent feeling lonely, getting outside of the house, etc, and reduce my pretty high anxieties surrounding maintaining my personal safety when outside of the apartment? Does walking with a dog discourage approaches from strangers? I’m not trying to be dramatic in any way- I’ve just noticed that my small stature has made me come across as non-intimidating to others and I just want to make sure I’ll be safe while living alone without connections to ensure my safety. Please any and all advice is greatly appreciated!

2024.11.29 19:40 AngryRedHerring How does weapon collection and storage actually work in Crystal Hunt?
If I pick up weapons in a level, they're gone when I leave the level. But I seem to be collecting more and more daggers (which I never pick up) in storage; same with axes, Eridian swords, etc. As I outlevel those lower tier weapons, they start to stack up in storage, even though I can't/don't bring them back with me (or so it seems).
But if I buy a new, top tier weapon, and I lose it in a level, it is gone, along with the hefty chunk of cash I spent on it. And it is unfortunately way too easy to lose weapons; sometimes you drop one or it gets knocked out of your hand, and it falls through the ground, or just plain vanishes. How do I keep the weapons I want/paid for, and get rid of all these daggers I keep piling up? If I try to sell the extras, it always seems to sell the ones I have on my rack at home first.
And on that, what is the real difference between "home" and "storage"? Where is "storage"? "Home" seems to be anything on the racks or lying around the house, but I can't figure out the exact distinction between the two storage modes. I just want to keep the weapons I pay good money for, before outleveling them so they start stacking up in storage. It's like I can't use the good ones for fear of too easily losing them in a level, until I outlevel them.
