Intention is a concept I struggle to grasp: i.e., I grew up understanding 'intention' and 'intentions' as dirty words and euphamisims for lies and damn lies, a retrospective shield or excuse for failure, incompetence, unintended consequences, lack of planning and execution or outright lies about the true intent from the beginning.
"Well, my intention was / was not ..." Blah, blah, blah, yada, yada... Intentions aren't worth a brass fart-hing. Show me! Results, impact, don't yap about your intentions, "Do or do not, there is no try." That sort of thing.
So, when I hear or read about setting an intention I seem to have a block that has me discounting anything that comes after and I find myself thinking and feeling a visceral averaion and default back to, "Don't 'intend!' Just do it! Or don't."
All that said, alomst any teacher or resource in the field is constantly going on the importance of intention, which I think I am failing to grasp as a concept and certainly failing to respect or implement. I've searched in vain for a basic explanation and then detail that gies beyond, "Start by setting your intention..." Yes, but what IS it? Exactly how does one do that? Details?
Any help here would be appreciated.

Hi everyone,
I'm a 2nd-year law student looking for guidance on planning my future. I averaged 67.something% last year and got my first piece of coursework back this year with a 66%. I wanted to graduate with a first, but it's looking unlikely now, and I'm feeling down about it. I've also been reading that for Law a 2:1 is equivalent to a 2:2 in any other subject.
Unfortunately, I've already applied for some internships and been rejected, which has added to my worries. I'm not sure where to go from here.
I have limited work experience from a warehouse job with a well know company, but that's it.
What should I focus on now? Are there any specific part-time jobs, internships, or other opportunities I should pursue to strengthen my chances of becoming a solicitor in the city or as in-house counsel? Should I be looking into doing a master's, and where would be a good place to go with my grades? Any advice on the next steps or how to approach my situation would be greatly appreciated.
