2024.11.29 19:25 Organic_Sun_9855 Book series - too small to still exist?
Okay, I have used every AI and tool I can to find this stupid series I read from when I was a kid. I remember it being so bad but it has been killing me. Its been over 10 years but it is still bothering me. Please help!
Possibly dystopian, young adult, romance, fanatsy/scifi.
The main character is the child of some sort of rich man/politician/person of power. She lived in a big house and a pretty okay life if I am remembering correctly.
I believe at the beginning of the book she was she was purchasing drugs(?) Underneath a bridge or a tunnel or somewhere weird. The person selling it to her is another race/species that is oppressed and segregated from the upperclass/humans.
The male lead appears at some point at the end of their interaction before the two part ways. I believe they encounter eachother again at some school/rebellion maybe? Its a super slow burn, but the male lead's species dosen't have a heartbeat until they meet their soulmate (I used to eat that cringe up). And that shouldn't be a different race but he felt it with her.
There is some sort of training scene or school thing that takes place in the dark as well? They get a little handsy or some bs. I believe a war breaks out in the 2nd/3rd book.
In the 3rd book (?) They meet the male leads original soulmate who had a forced heart transplant with the main character or something like that so she's trying to win him back since shes his kind?
The other romantic intrest that I didn't care about ends up devoting himself to the evil side and shaves his head and gets a rose tattoo or something like that.
I remember three books, an orange butterfly on one, some fire and a cityscape? Maybe a blue one with a rose? Idk.
I read this sometime between 2008-2015? I dont know. If you know this book series please tell me. I have checked but haven't confirmed the following since they all have some but not most of what I remember:
The Requiem Trilogy by Lauren Oliver
Wither by Lauren DeStefano
An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi
Delirium by Lauren Oliver
These all have some or are close to what I am remembering, but are missing the bug pieces of soulmates and having that heartbeat attatchment with the main character and the psycho who shaved his head. I think the whole military did it or something? Idk. Please help me. I am so desperate to get this off my noggin.

Symptoms were gone after 3 days, but body tension persisted for a week or so. Sleep issues persist. Is this what HPPD is?
I basically felt agitated, strange tension around my body for a few weeks and then it peaked into a full blown LSD trip that lasted 3 days - I was seeing visual artifacts, emotions were heightened, me checking behind my curtains thinking people were after me (happens something when i trip and get anxiety with LSD).
I checked myself into the mental clinic and they took me off my ADHD (60 mg vyvanse) and put me on risperidone. My LSD symptoms of visual artifacts was gone by then, but I kept experiencing an electrifying jolt of energy pulsing through my head and body for almost a week.
THis was a year ago and I'm no longer feeling this, but my sleep patterns are no longer normal - I'm constantly waking up in the middle of the night. I'm also experiencing very vivid dreams.
Is this what HPPD is?

As I continue my journey from Rodman Baptist to reformed, I’d like to understand a good read in the next step.
I’ve read Sprouls What is reformed theology? And that was great. I’d like to move onto something more substantive, without cannonball into some four volume set.
I do like the idea of Beeke’s, but it’s a) 4 volumes and I reviewed some copies, and it aligns with the criticisms I’ve seen and that it’s overly verbose and repetitive.
I do like the idea of something more contemporary though than the 17th, 18th, or 19th century. I like the fact that Beeke sourced a lot of other thinkers and tackles more contemporary issues with a pastoral bent.
Is there something in between Beeke and Vos? More contemporary but not the master work? Or is it more important to start with one of the classics so you can compare others to it? In which case - which? I have read a chapter or so from little Bavinck and found it readable. Would that be a good next step?

 | I had an Oster stand mixer that was bought decades ago and only broke about 3 yrs ago. Once it broke I was gifted a kitchenaid bowl lift mixer which I love. However, I make a lot of cakes and pies. The flat beater and the flex edge beaters don’t really mix as well as the beaters from my Oster stand. Does anyone know of any attachments that are similar to the old traditional attachments? I’ve been looking on Amazon and can’t find anything remotely similar. So, I parked in the reopened (allegedly improved) Smartpark yesterday from about 4:30-7:30 pm. Second floor, SE corner. When I came back, one of my windows was shattered. They didn't take anything, but I would assume my car alarm scared them off. Also, there wasn't really anything of value to take. Mostly stuff for my elderly dog's comfort and some unopened bottles of soda. I saw the security guard on my way out, he said he didn't hear or see anything but he took a report and some photos.
On the bright side, I didn't step in any puddles of urine or piles of needles. I also wasn't hot boxed with crack or fentanyl in the elevator. So, it's better...I guess?
