2024.11.29 19:22 SgtFlippy88 Powerline adapter issue, need advice for new hardware
So I got this funny thing, where I got into RC cars a few months ago and started to slowly notice, that everytime I charge a RC battery, my powerline connection to my garage craps out. But my gate and garage doors of course need that connection to work, so it's a right pain in the butt, especially since it won't always recover by itself.
I currently run an ER605, software controller, the powerline adapter to the garage is to feed a PoE switch for 2 cameras and an EAP110. The house has 2 EAP245's. Distance between house and garage is 15 meters. The upstairs 245 is in a room at the back, so quite close to the garage. That one also connects to a PoE switch for a camera.
Now I understand I have several options: - EAP211 bridge kit, which seems a hassle and not a high SO happiness factor with 2 antennas on the outside walls.
- buying a third EAP245, keep the powerline adapter but also set it to mesh with the house EAP's. Is that possible, so it backs up through mesh?
- buying a EAP615, which would eliminate my PoE switch upstairs and move the EAP245 to the garage. But I heard the EAP615 has a low range, so it would make it more difficult to mesh to from the garage.
- the most work solution and ugly if I want it easy, pull a cable outside, under my driveway, under the lawn, into the garage... I really don't feel like doing that 🤣

The last new pen i got was about 2 years ago for christmas, i got the pilot vanishing point! Its my only expensive ish pen, and i LOVE it, the only thing i dont like about it, ironically, is the retractable pen gimmick. Mostly because it’s gotten stuck one too many times for me! However, the feel of the nib (F nib) is absolutely PERFECT. I was wondering what recommendations you guys have for another pen similar to that? I’d like to stay below 300, preferably in the 100-200 range! also interested in seeing even cheaper options to get as backups maybe 👀

Not sure how balanced it is though..
Most of the ideas in the concept generalize the more specified parts of her kit (i.e. only regenerating against shields health and barriers >>> lifesteal), and streamlining parts of her kit (turret travel time).
Passive: Shield Generator - Symmetra will now regenerate shield health when dealing damage: 20% of damage dealt by Photon Projector and 20% of damage dealt by Sentry Turrets. - Health decreased from 125 >>> 75 HP - Shield increased from 150 >>> 175 HP - Symmetra's placeables and Symmetra herself will spawn overhealth packs upon destruction/death that grant allies 50 overhealth that decays after 5 seconds, maxing out at 100.
Primary Fire: Photon Projector - [UNCHANGED]
Secondary Fire: Photon Projector - Can now level up Photon Projector Primary Fire. - Splash damage decreased from 50 >>> 40 dmg
Ability: Sentry Turret - Turret count increased from 3 >>> 4 - Turret damage decreased from 30 >>> 22.5 dmg per second - Now behaves like a hitscan beam and teleports to final destination, and leaves a trail of photon particles (for enemy clarity). - Pre-placement turrets can now be eaten and deflected. - Eliminating an enemy now completely refreshes sentry turret cooldown.
Ability: Teleporter - Teleporter interaction radius increased from 1.5 >>> 4 meters - Teleporter shields decreased from 200 >>> 100 HP - Visuals changed to align with interaction radius. - If a hero walks on top of the teleporter hitbox, they will automatically be teleported. This can be turned off in per-player settings. - Teleporter can now be placed on walls and ceilings. - Default placement confirmation mode set to: "Upon ability key release" (like Rammatta's barrier). - Option added in hero-specific settings: "Automatically teleport upon initial cast (if within range)" - Set to OFF by default

My (58M) mates and I have been arguing about this TV advert that we can all swear was on when we were kids, but haven't been able to find anywhere on YouTube, or elsewhere online. I figured, where better to ask than Reddit? At least one other person here is bound to remember this, even if it was just more of a local advert. It's pretty memorable, has to be if five grown men are all are remembering it from forty odd years ago, and given what it is, I’m more surprised that I’ve not seen others online talking about it. It was strange too because it would come on during the BBC news segment, something which has rarely, if ever, had adverts. Thinking back, it’s weird too that the BBC wouldn’t remove it, given how graphic it was. It was about the time you’d be sitting watching telly with your family too, so it wasn’t like it was an ‘after the kids have gone to sleep’ thing.
It starts fairly tame, with a father and two boys sitting in front of the telly. There's no sound but the sound from that, and some clattering plates from the kitchen, until you hear a baby crying in the background. The camera switches over to the kitchen, where you see a woman's back as she leans over and puts something into the oven. She stands upright again, taking off a pair of oven gloves before sighing and walking away, as the camera stays focused on the oven. The glass is too blackened to see much, and its only for a second or so too long. Long enough that we all knew something was about to happen when we saw it at first.
One of my mates is insistent that in the next scene, she goes to the living room first, but none of us remember that. What we all remember is the nursery scene. The advert cuts to a shot of this very decorated nursery, crib perched against one wall, where you think the crying is coming from. The camera is positioned as if you are the mother, walking into the room and towards the crib, but as soon as she gets there, the angle shifts to show her face as she gasps. Then, the camera switches again, to show the crib which has a chicken in it. You hear the oven timer go off, and the mother's face just drops.
Then there was this weird pause at the end, when a load of text would come up. Something about seeing through trickery and checking in on your wife. All you can hear in the background are these awful chewing sounds, the sounds of plates clattering and a woman quietly sobbing. Not sure what the hell it was a PSA for, but it was always on the telly on Sundays around teatime. We're all around the Derby area, if anyone else knows what it was or knows anything else about it. Cheers
