2024.11.29 19:40 Speedbird787-9 Connecting an IP Phone - WiFi Router in Bridge Mode vs. Signal Extender with Ethernet Port
For my WFH setup, I need to connect a Mitel IP phone. The phone requires PoE, but I have an adapter for that need.
Bigger concern is wiring the phone from the office to the existing switch. It’s possible, but would be a significant amount of labor to run the cable. Not afraid of the project, but it’s sort of a “plan B”.
I had considered, instead, using a second router in wireless bridge mode in the office, pointing at the primary network SSID. Plug the IP phone into that, and I should be good to go, right?
How does that compare with a WiFi signal extender that has a single Ethernet port on it for connecting wired devices? Is this six of one/half dozen of another?
I don’t plan on really connecting any other wired or wireless devices to the “secondary” networking device (bridged WiFi router or extender). It is just the IP phone.
Any thoughts would be helpful. Thank you!

2024.11.29 19:40 Timely-Ad-8536 Regretting getting my dog?
My kids convinced me to get a 12 week old bichon poodle mix. 6 months later I am seriously questioning this decision.
We have a house of 6 with a cat plus exposure to extended family. We took the dog to dog friendly locations. We do our best to give the dog over an hour of outdoor play and running with human interaction every day. We have successfully completed an 8 week training class with other adolescent dogs in addition to hours of training we provided over the summer.
At 9 months and many, many hours of training and attention, I worry that this dog is not the dog for us. I am seriously considering returning her to the breeder for lack of initial socialization.
This dog is still not fully potty trained (has almost daily accidents in the house). She barks often at other dogs and humans. She lunges at small children and house guests. She nips at them aggressively and I worry she will bite.
I am concerned that we have gotten into a situation where we cannot care for this dog. I am worried that she will bite someone and we will be forced to put her down. I do not know what we did wrong.

2024.11.29 19:40 Nolan4sheriff Noctigon m44 hank light water damage?
Hi, I think my flashlight may have gotten wet, to cause this, but if anyone has experienced this or knows a cause/fix please let me know. The light currently only works consistently at full power and when I go to dim it it dims right away to very low power or just completely shuts off. It also dims and brightens choppily.

Interviewing several virtual assistants for my business and trying to decide the best skillsets.
Preface: For the business i'm hiring, we have an industry specific set of software required to interact with manufacturers we contract with. We often create Purchase Orders, Quotes & Invoices for our customers through this software. If deciding between a few product options, we can even pull out our manufacturers products and do a presentation were we send our customers a few options of products from different manufacturers so they can compare and contrast the products.
During this short process it seems there are two sets of candidates.
Group A - The smaller set of candidates have the experience with the software in question and within our industry and narrowly focused on providing just the area of support we're asking for.
Group B - The remainder of candidates are those that are very eager to learn the software in order to support us along with getting to know more about our business and the ability to handle some tasks outside of just the support area we're looking to fill.
So what's my hesitation
Those candidates who want to really be part of our team but don't have the specific software capabilities really resonate with me due to their interest in our overall business.
Those candidates who already have the expertise are more confident in their skillset to handle the software but are doing this for other companies too. My sense is they will probably do a decent job but just being a cog that may not doing much outside of a few specific tasks.
Does anyone have experience when choosing between candidates like this, how have you decided who is best. Personally, I believe software is just a tool. Give two people a chainsaw, maybe both can cut logs but maybe one can also fell trees, carve animal sculptures and build log cabins too.
I guess the question is, will just getting someone who can cut logs be valuable to my business?

I had a new client message me 2 days ago asking if I could board her dog over Christmas for 10 days. My first long term boarding since I started sitting, I answered her within half hour saying yes I could do it, and she sent another message confirming that she would like to do a meet and greet. I answered within the hour with my availability next week for a meet. She never answered. I sent her I think three messages Thursday (2 days ago) (after her last message), 1 message Friday morning to follow up and still haven't heard anything. Should I message her again or just let it go? I don't want to bother her but also it's getting closer to Christmas so if she waits too much longer she won't get a boarder.
