So yesterday, Thanksgiving, my family and I were hiking at Mission Peak, Fremont. When we were heading down to our car, while we were walking, we saw a helicopter, fire trucks, police, and so on. There were a lot at the bottom of the trail, and some were driving up the trail. Do you know what happened there? I saw that some people were near the place the firetrucks drove to, so if anyone knows what happened, please tell me.

I work in a pretty chill office environment where everyone generally gets along, but there’s always that one coworker who manages to make things weird. For us, it’s Jess. Jess has a thing for “adding a personal touch” to the workplace, which sounds fine in theory, but in practice, it’s… a lot. And now I’m wondering if I crossed a line by finally saying something.
Jess is really into crafting and DIY projects, and she’s constantly bringing them into the office. It started with small things, like handmade calendars and quirky desk decorations, which were cute enough. But over the last few months, it’s escalated into full-blown chaos.
For example, last month she decided the office needed a “morale boost” and built this giant papier-mâché tree in the breakroom. The thing sheds glitter and bits of paper everywhere, and it blocks half the counter space, but everyone just kind of went along with it because, well, it’s harmless, right?
But then came her “interactive installations.” She turned one of the empty conference rooms into a “mindfulness grotto,” complete with fake vines, fairy lights, and bean bags. It sounds nice in theory, but she took it too far by adding an ambient soundtrack of wind chimes and bird calls that plays on a loop. The problem? The sound bleeds into the adjacent meeting rooms, and now every Zoom call sounds like it’s being held in the middle of a rainforest.
The final straw came this week when Jess decided to “improve” our weekly team meeting. She showed up early and transformed the conference table into a “creative brainstorming zone,” complete with Play-Doh, finger paints, and even a little station where you could make friendship bracelets. I’ll admit, it was kind of funny at first, but then she insisted everyone “express their ideas through art” instead of actually… talking about our projects. What should’ve been a 30-minute meeting turned into a two-hour mess, and nothing got done. At one point, our manager (who is the most patient person ever) tried to redirect things, but Jess just kept going on about how this was “the future of workplace collaboration.”
After the meeting, I pulled Jess aside and told her that while her projects are creative, they’re becoming a distraction and making it hard for the rest of us to focus on work. I even suggested she save her ideas for team-building days or company events. She immediately got defensive and said I was being “negative” and “stifling her passion.” She accused me of not appreciating her efforts to make the office “a better place” and implied that I was just jealous of her creativity.
Now she’s been giving me the cold shoulder, and a couple of coworkers have said I was too harsh because “she means well.” But others have thanked me privately, saying they were too afraid to speak up.
So, AITA for telling Jess to tone it down? Or should I have just let her keep turning our office into a Pinterest board on steroids?

Hi all! I’m on tray 13/28 of my initial set to close an open bite that was caused by a night guard. I’m seeing a lot of progress (my front teeth can touch again!!) but the past two trays/weeks I’ve been having noticeable pain and pressure in my jaw and inner ears when I touch my back teeth together to chew, smile, etc.
I imagine it’s because I’ve gotten so used to my back teeth touching when they were erupted that I’m having trouble closing my jaw all the way to where it’s supposed to naturally rest—has anyone else who’s closed this kind of open bite had this pain, and did it go away eventually? Thanks so much!
