2024.11.29 19:23 The_Antisoialite Unable to update firmware on R7
Hey all, thanks in advance for any help offered for this problem. I've looked for a few weeks for a solution but unsuccessfully, so here I am...
As stated my R7 with firmware version 1.5.0 is not allowing an update to 1.6.0. The problem comes when I format my card, which is a Samsung Pro Plus SDXC 1 (3) V30 256gb, at "low level" and then place the card into a card reader in order to transfer the downloaded update (from canon USA) onto it I am blocked from doing so. I'm running an intel based Macbook Pro a1991 i9 w/ 32gb ram and 500gb disk with plenty of space available. I get the slashed circle when dragging the firmware update to the cards root directory. Looking at the cards info it's showing me that it's "read only" and the lock that's typically there so that I can unlock the permissions tab and change it to read/write isn't even there so I have no options to change this. In Disk Utility, I did a repair and it found no problems, it only left the card in its current status as read only. I tried to use the "Erase" function within Disk Utility and get an error saying "couldn't open device.:( -69877)" Operation failed. This had been the case with an additional card as well that is identical to the one above. Both have the same result.
Given this however, the card works well in the camera and can write files (photo's) an any format I choose. Those files can be transferred to the same Mac I'm using to attempt the update. I simply cannot write files to the cards from anything but the camera, thus making it impossible to update the firmware.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

I opened two excel documents and one of them had these pull down boxes but for whatever reason after closing out that document they transferred to the other Excel document I had open and I cannot figure out how to get rid of them. I would post a picture but this subreddit won't let me.
