I've recently been studying marketing. It's part of my job to figure out why some marketing techniques work, and others don't. I think I've been doing it wrong with my story, 'Walk Me Home: Dating a Monster Girl'. Here's the premise:
"Walking your overpowered monster girlfriend home is easy. No one messes with you. Getting back on your own? That's the tricky part. In a creepy city where light-sensitive monsters come out at night, Norman Newman is a normal...ish human, which makes him a target for everything else. Will parkour, martial arts and a high-powered flashlight be enough to survive date night?"
When people actually read it, if the feedback means anything, they mostly end up loving it:
"came here expecting a slice of life romance, found some sort of SCP eldrich superhero story. Came looking for copper. Found Gold."
"The premise of this story is definitely intriguing. And in the first five chapters at least it delivers characters with good depth and great world building."
"Slice of life this is not. So far an underrated gem on the site with competent grammar, flavorful writing and originality. I'm looking forward to see how it continues to develop."
"I have to say, this is close to the most alien I've ever seen monsters depicted as which is very hard to pull off, and your way of worldbuilding is equally good, both in the sense of the state of the world as well as the relationship between the two leads ..."
"But every chapter is about their relationship, in one way or another. Very impressive."

So, immediately I see a problem. People expect slice of life, and which it isn't. It's not super heavy on romance either. There's much more focus on action, worldbuilding and character development. However, our hero is dating a monster girl, so I figured that's a nice hook. I've updated the 'What to Expect' section a couple times to reflect this. As of today, this is what it looks like.
What to Expect:
Eldritch superhero story. Shōnen-level action. SCP-style monsters. Fresh worldbuilding. Wholesome romance. Uncommon character dynamics. Quirky chaos. Pancake Amy.
Not slice of life.

Maybe you're wondering what's the problem. Well, I've recently run the premise by 3 different people from the HFY crowd. All of them said it didn't appeal to them. One went so far as to say:
"Sorry, I'll be a bit direct, but I immediately see 2 big problems with it :
- why does the monster girl leave her boyfriend alone, knowing he could be KILLED anytime? Is she dumb? Doesn't she care? This relationship already seems dysfunctional.
- The world seems barely credible. If normal humans are so weak, why aren't they extinct yet? And if they aren't weak, why do they tolerate those predators?
All of that is explained in the story, but I can't outline everything in the premise. Also, the hero isn't weak. He's the Batman to his girlfriend's Superman, fighting opponents way stronger than himself through skill, wit and gadgetry. Some eldritch horrors are actually afraid of him.
So ... what gave such a bad impression at face value? How do I get around this turn-off? Does anyone have any suggestions on how I should improve the premise?

Loaded up bigscreen beta and I loved the environments, but almost all of them have my perspective blocked by the seats. I’ e adjusted my boundary multiple times, reset the floor height, even lowered and raised the floor height as low and high as they will go with the control sticks. None of them raised my vision over the seat. Anyone think they can help me out?

It's amazing to me that CR STILL has buffering issues. I've been usin is for several years (maybe 10+) at this point & it's just been a constant of the platform. I've never seen them substantially address it, or really even acknowledge that it's an issue. But many CR users have struggled with constant jittery shows, havin to refresh the page over & over, etc. I can't believe they still haven't fixed it.
