Look I've consumed too much internet material about such topics. I was desperate and struggling little thing that didn't know much what to do with myself and at that time I didn't know that apparently "real and useful information related to ASD" and "what internet is ready to give you about it" are almost opposite fucking things. My head is damn mess after that ngl
And its damn hard to distinguish some nonsense people just make up from something useful.
Most of decent looking materials I found are written for parents of very little autistic children. I guess it can also be good in some mesure. But I would *really* love to get more info about it for adults

I have a child starting elementary school in the next few years, I am considering putting them in french immersion here in Canada. I've seen some research one this but wanted to know if any professionals here have more expertise.
The city I live in also has other language programs I'd consider, french is just more common and closer to our residence.

Hi everyone!
After years of running, contact sports and swimming I have decided to take on cycling as a new hobby, with the ultimate goal of completing a half Ironman in 9 months time. As I do not know much about bikes, let alone road bikes, and there is a lot of information available, which can sometimes feel quite overwhelming, I decided to ask the cycling community's help when deciding on which bike to get as my first road bike.
I have narrowed it down to three options, please see below in the table where I have listed their specs and price (apologies for some missing information, I wasn't able to verify some specs). There are not many options available where I live in terms of choosing the desired brand of bike, so have to get on with what is available. I do not want to spend tons of cash on my first bike, hence I am looking for an entry level bike.

PPS! Hypothetically, if I would, in the future like to own an indoor smart trainer like the Wahoo Kickr or Garmin Tacx etc, would the above bikes be compatible with them?

2024.11.29 19:35 stalwartvic Dealing with Teen Harassment as a Foreigner

Came across a gang of around 10 teenagers today. As I walked past them, they threw a straw at me and laughed. I turned around gave them a stare and then just kept walking. As a dark skinned foreigner here, this kind of thing happens to me often.
Last month, I was on a train with only two teenagers in the compartment. They blew vape smoke through the seat gap and it hit me directly in the face. When I moved to another seat at the end of the compartment they followed me. Thank fuck as the train got busier, they left me alone. That day, I thought to myself, If they touch me, I’d at least smash one of those guys face and make them regret ever messing with me even if i get deported to my home country.
Even now, I struggle to control my rage when I think about situations like this. I never disturb anyone and always mind my own business, yet I don’t understand why they target me.
At this point, I feel shaky and anxious every time I walk past teenagers. If things escalate, is there any way I can handle them without losing control? I’d really appreciate your advice.

2024.11.29 19:35 PuzzleheadedVirus189 Just finished rewatch after 10 years.

I just finished rewatching Lost after about 10 years or so. I loved this show when i was about 13-14, but i never really understand anything that happened in the show. I’m 25 now and I have a new found appreciation for Lost.
The last 5-6 episodes I was trying to remember how it ended, and I had some bits that I remembered like Locke and Jack fighting on the cliff. But the actual ending, I couldn’t remember. When I tell you I bawled my eyes out during the final sequence. The music mixed with seeing everyone happy and smiling at the “funeral” and then seeing Jack and his final moments laying down beside Vincent. This show brings back a lot of nostalgia for me and I’ve always loved it as a child, but I had no clue it would have such an impact on me as an adult. This was the hardest I’ve cried in a long time.

Italian M33 helmet identification Hi everyone, I need help identifying my M33 helmet. I’m having trouble determining whether it’s from the WW2 period or a post-war version. I have tried scouring the internet, but it came back as pretty inconclusive. Here are some clues I’ve found so far that might help:
  • Color: The helmet is grey, which I know was used during WW2, but I’ve heard the Italian Navy used grey helmets post-war too.
  • Rivets: The rivets are quite prominent and circular, sticking up quite a bit. From my research, I think these might be WW2-style, but I’m not 100% sure.
  • Chinstrap: The chinstrap is made of leather, which I believe is typical for WW2 helmets, but could it be a post-war feature too?
  • Bales: The bales on the helmet are rectangular, which I’ve seen mentioned as characteristic of WW2 M33 helmets, while post-war helmets might have trapezoidal bales.
  • Liner: The liner is quite worn and cracked, but it still looks like it could be an original design from WW2.
  • Two Holes on the Front: I’ve also noticed two holes on the front of the helmet; not sure if they’re for a specific purpose or to like hold an emblem.
  • Lot number: I belive the lot number says 582, not quite sure about lot numbers though.
I’m hoping to get some help from the community in pinpointing whether this helmet is WW2 or post-war. If you have any tips, advice, or if you can spot something I missed, I’d really appreciate it so much!

I'm coming up on 10 years from graduating with my bachelors in construction management and thought I'd share a brief career summary. Hoping this provides some valuable data points for folks. A few notes:

Year 1 - Company #1, Oil & gas construction owner's rep, pipeline and compressor station projects. Project coordinator, materials management, etc. Base pay $80k.
Year 2 - Company #2, Oil & gas construction owner's rep (contract basis), distribution pipeline projects. Quality inspector, comp $40/hr + $700/wk per diem, came out to ~$130k.
Year 3 - Company #3, Oil & gas construction owner's rep (contract basis), pipeline and compressor station construction. Quality inspector and field superintendent, ~$650/day rate, came out to ~$170k, worked 6 days a week.
Year 4 - Company #3, Oil & gas construction owner's rep (contract basis), pipeline and compressor station construction. Project manager over small maintenance projects. Great opportunity to learn cost and project controls. $850/day rate, came out to ~$200k, back to working 5 days a week.
Year 5 - Company #4, Oil & gas owner's rep, supermajor oil & gas company, upstream oil & gas projects. Construction and commissioning management roles overseas. Base pay down to ~$120k, but some travel bonuses put me back close to $150k. Worked 6 months of the year on a fly in/fly out schedule.
Years 6/7 - Company #4, Oil & gas owner's rep, supermajor oil & gas company, upstream oil & gas projects. Construction supervisor role back in the US. Base pay still around $120k, location bonus put me back to around $160k.
Year 8 - Company #4, Oil & gas owner's rep, supermajor oil & gas company, upstream oil & gas projects. Construction manager role overseas, total comp ~$180k, worked 6 months of the year on a fly in/fly out schedule.
Years 9/10 - Company #5, Tech construction owner's rep (Think Amazon, Apple, Intel, Meta, TSMC). Senior project manager role, total comp $240k yr 1, $260k yr 2.
