My sister's school had research involving axolotls, and they're done with the study now. As such, they're giving away the axolotls, and whichever ones aren't given away are going to be neutralized. She's bringing me one to take care of, but my issue is this: I have an awkward amount of time where I need to cycle a tank. I have about two weeks before I get the axolotl, and in that time I'm returning to college for two weeks before I go to live with my dad for a month for J-term. Axolotls are high bioload animals, so I need to have a tank cycled for it ASAP. I don't want to stress it out too much by keeping it in a tupper with 100% water changes everyday.
I wanted to know if it was possible to leave my tank to cycle on its own at my dad's house while I round out the semester at college. My plan was to leave the aquarium running in my room with some fish pellets sitting in it to produce ammonia. I plan to put some API quickstart in there, too, to hopefully make the process faster. An additional issue is my dad's house is in Minnesota, and the insulation on our house is poor. My room is regularly 50ish degrees without heat, and I'm afraid to leave the radiator running because its lit my stuff on fire before. I'm fine leaving the heat on when i'm there, but I dont want to leave it on for two weeks when I'm not. I can move everything away from the heater if I need to, though, it would just be a ton of work because everything there is heavy.
My concerns are:
- Will leaving my tank to cycle alone for two weeks mess up the cycle and force me to start over?
- Will the cool temperatures in my room kill the bacteria I need for a cycle?

2024.11.29 21:00 Creative-Mind0309 Writing in the pov of a character I don't like

My book has 4 different characters with a pov, and mostly, it's been fine. But one of the characters I don't really like. I don't hate her, she's just not the type of character I love. I like characters that are sarcastic, cold, have grey morals or are just done with everyone. She's very sweet and helpful, believes the best out of everyone, and has a very strong "good" moral code.
The issue is that writing her bores me and it shows. My sister read over my chapter and told me that it didn't have enough of her thoughts and when I put some it sounded like a robot pretending to be human. I don't want to change her personality because she will be convinced that everything she does is good, or at least for the greater good because she's such a good person. It's a very important point in my story and won't work if she doesn't start off as a good person.
What can I do to write her better and without being super bored?
(Sorry if there are mistakes, English is not my first language.)
