I'm starting a new role managing socials for a community college and I've never worked in higher education before - do you have any advice to share about marketing for this particular niche? Or about switching industries within social media? The goals will be community engagement, student enrollment/retention, and defining the brand.
I like my current job, but I was seeking better pay and new challenges, and I'm very excited about the opportunities of my new position. It's a 30% pay bump with incredible benefits! My previous role was in conservation/zoo non-profit marketing.
Additionally, this is a new role for the college, nobody has professionally managed their socials before so I will be in charge of growing the account from the ground up. It's an exciting opportunity, but one that I'm a bit nervous for...
With my current job, I came into an already-engaged fan base and significant audience size and was able to make consistent growth that I'm very proud of. In many ways I thought it was easy, though, considering all the cute animals, beautiful plants, and amazing landscapes that I could create highly engaging content with. Going viral was a possibility that happened a couple times. Higher education just seems like it will be a different game altogether, though obviously similar foundational principles. I guess I'm feeling a bit of new job anxieties and wondering if others have gone through similar transitions or have advice for my situation. TIA!

I'm applying to a PPOL PhD program of some prestige. My resume, statements, academic/work history, and writing samples are all very strong according to those academics I've shared them with, and I come with project releases and publishings already under my belt from my master's work.
The application requires three letters of recommendation. I selected my three recommenders more than a month in advance, and they all agreed promptly.
Two of those letters were submitted within two weeks, and those recommenders have been very communicative with me.
My last and most important recommender- my professor, advisor, copublisher, and research lead- has not submitted his letter yet. In fact, we haven't had any contact since he agreed to do the letter and requested a draft of my SoP, which
I've sent him two reminders with offers to help in any way- "a 10-days-left" and a "3-days-left"- and giving him updated versions of both statements.
He's always been pretty good about deadlines in the past but nonetheless I'm getting worried this close to the deadline.
If he fails to get his recommendation in on time, how screwed am I? What about if, for some reason, he doesn't get it in at all?
What should I do now? Should I try to wrangle another rec letter two days before the due date? Should I shoot a letter to Admissions?
