 | I just had a dermatologist appointment and it ended with me crying while dermatologist stared blankly at me. He said “I’m not trying to make this difficult for you, we want to help you” and I get that but he just explained basically nothing while I obviously was distressed asking him questions. I wanted to go on accutane because I have tried literally everything at this point (spironolactone, tretanoin, oral antibiotics, topical antibiotics, benzoyl peroxide washes, simple routines, cutting out dairy, prioritizing water and sleep, laser therapy, epiduo, etc…). My derm made it seem nearly impossible for me to go on accutane because I go to college two hours away and he said I have to get testing and come back and I said multiple times okay I’ll do that and he just kept saying well you’re so far away… and then I asked about raising my spironolactone dose until I could go on accutane and he said I need to get labs before I can go on spironolactone. So now I have to wait almost two months to even up my dosage of spironolactone and then another three months to be able to even start accutane. I hate having acne and I feel like my confidence is an all time low. My skin is so bad with scars and i’m so tired of feeling like things work and then having a horrible breakout after thinfs were getting better. I will never find love or friendships.
I'm 20 years old and have no friends anymore. Have never had a girlfriend before. I know it's my fault for isolating myself and failing to control my anxiety, but I'm not sure how to change. I am Autistic and have social anxiety, Going to college makes me feel incredibly alone. When I try to reach out to people and establish friends, even if it's just online, I freeze up and don't know what to say. Even when I do know what to say, I always feel awkward and silly.
I can't even form entire phrases when I do have the opportunity to communicate with someone. Especially talking to a girl. I Stutter and stutter. Even when I know what I want to say, I struggle to express it. Who on earth would be patient enough to listen to me? How could I potentially attract someone if I tried to communicate with them? I can't even speak with them clearly. I am not worth anyone's time.
I feel so distant from everyone, even my family, but especially from myself, it's as if I'm not linked to this body, which is an awful feeling. Every day, I feel this way yet act like I don't. I go to work and college and talk to people as normally as possible, trying not to appear to be on autopilot that I feel I am in always.

Needed a new coffee maker as my old Keurig finally broke. My company has a recognition website you earn points for being recognized and can redeem for various items. Keurigs and Nespresso both. Debated and then researched the Nespresso. I thought what the heck. I'm not buying it. I'd never shell out $250 for a coffee machine. OH MY GOD. The first time I tried the espresso.... I thought I was back in Miami having a Cafe Cubano! I could almost smell the whiff of the cigars at the shop in Little Havana that passed it around as you browsed. I'd forgotten how flavorful coffee could be after having a keurig for years! I'm just barely getting into trying the aeroccino 3 that came with it. Loving everything already. I am pleasantly surprised, I thought Nespresso was just a bunch of hype. I don't mind spending a lil extra on pods when the coffee maker was free, and the coffee is actually good. Any tips??

We are all familiar with prating gratitude. It is an overly used concept that many times can turn int o a form of “toxic positivity” and this is far from what I want to do here. What is to be grateful anything?
I believe it is a feeling in a warm tan color in my chest, that makes me smile and think “I am happy I am here to see/experience this.” Maybe it is a religious experience to you, maybe you feel like thanking God or the universe for the opportunity to be here right now.
Another interesting thing is, you don’t have to feel grateful about big life changing experiences only, sometimes I am just grateful for McDonald’s, or for my cat, my friends and family for being there for me. Some days I’m grateful for having to strength to take a shower or drinking a glass of water. You can be grateful about anything.
Practicing gratitude helps us guide our minds into a more positive way of thinking. It doesn’t mean you can’t complain (I love complaining lol) but it helps us thinking about the good things we are actually able to experience.
If this seems too hard for you right, try to modify it to fit your needs: try to write down one complain you have about your day, and battle it with one or two that you feel grateful or happy for. We are all in different stages of our journey. You’re loved and respected, and your feelings are valid.
Now tell me, what are you grateful for today? What are you complain you want to battle with a good thought?

Although we do our best to make the rules of this subreddit as clear as we can within the characters limits, we notice that sometimes there’s some confusion or misunderstanding about the rules.
In this post we want to clarify the most common misconceptions about rule number 4, comments about appearance and/or any sexual comments are not allowed
Zero tolerance for comments about appearance that are unrelated to the poster's piercing(s). For example physical features, perceived flaws, beauty and/or any sexual comments. Offending users will be banned.
This subreddit is about piercings and we want all the people posting here showing off their piercings feel secure and safe in that the only topic of discussion will be their piercings.
Misconception number one, the rule only applies to unkind, rude, insulting or lewd comments not related to the featured piercing(s)
Wrong. The rule applies to all comments unrelated to the featured piercings. It doesn’t matter if your comment was meant in kindness or as a compliment. Simply assume that the people posting on a piercing subreddit want to show of and talk about piercings and they are fully capable of finding suitable subreddits if they want to receive comments about their appearance.
Misconception number two the rule is gendered.
Wrong, just like piercings aren’t gendered, neither is this rule. It doesn’t matter what gender OP has, or what the gender is of the one commenting, the rule applies to and for everyone. If you break down the demographics of this subreddit most likely there are more female identifying posters then male identifying posters, but all deserve to feel safe in knowing that their piercings are the only topic of discussion.
Can I ask……?
Yes, you may ask what brand or colour the lipstick is that’s visible in the photo.
Yes, you may ask what hair products someone uses for their curls, how they got their eye liner so perfect, who the tattoo artist is of that amazing tattoo that’s visible in the photo or what watch brand that is or how the cat is called.
Rule of thumb, if it’s visible in the photo and it is something OP applied or added to themselves you may (politely) inquire about it.
A special note about DM and chat
The advice we actually dislike to give, because it shouldn’t be needed but if you are posting a photo, especially of nipple or genital piercings, consider (temporarily) disabling DM’s. Most of our community is awesome and wouldn’t even consider breaking the “no comments about appearance or sexual comments” rule even if it wasn’t a rule.
Unfortunately that doesn’t go for everyone that will see your photo. Fact, sexualising someone without their consent is specifically against Reddit TOS. We want to encourage you to report those DM's and chat for harassment, those reports go straight to Reddit admin.
We regularly see comments noticing how kind and welcoming this community is, and we want to thank you for creating and contributing to that atmosphere. As moderators we try our best to keep it that way but we do rely on your help for that. So if you see a post or comment that doesn’t follow the rules of this subreddit, please hit the report button.
