Hey all,
I'm 34M and am moving down by myself with no pets.
I will be working for Intuit, and they are assisting with relocation (10k) from Washington to SD.
I've been to SD 5-6 times, so I do have a decent landmarking of the area. Here is some of what I'm looking for:
I could be without a car for up to a couple months, as I am ending my lease here in WA and flying down when I do move. I figure for the first up to 2 months I will Uber to and from work.
Intuit currently has 2 days in office only fortunately, but who knows if that changes over the years. But compared to the tech in Seattle where it's nearly 5 days RTO for all of them, that was a huge plus.
Budget wise: As it's just me, I'm not looking to go above $3500. Not looking for roommates, I can afford $3500 a month. Even 4k if it was perfect everything and perfect location, but since its just me, not looking to really go above 3500/mo. In unit laundry is a hard requirement for me.
Recreational: Being centralized near a beach isn't too important to me, I'm not big on night life, but I do enjoy the outdoors running/walking/and yes, sometimes the beach.
I've already scheduled virtual tours to some apartments in the following areas using ZIllow: Del Mar Heights/Carmel Valley, Mire Mesa, La Jolla Commons.
Traffic wise, unless Google Maps is lying, it seems like as long as I live north of PB and am not trying to live in downtown, I am looking at 20-30 minute commutes via Uber leaving at 8 AM and coming home at 5 PM, with some being even less if it was in Mira Mesa/Del Mar Heights/Carmel Valley. I live ~40 miles away from Seattle currently, so that's a huge time savings for me when I had to go into the office.

2024.11.29 22:00 NugNugJuice Interesting way to think about the new PoE classes
So each attribute (and attribute hybrid) has 2 version this time around. However it seems to me, looking at the new classes that they seem to work more in 75%/25% splits. This might be useful in guessing what the unreleased counterparts might focus on.
For example, witch vs sorceress. Sorceress can be thought of as 75% int, 25% int/dex while which can be thought of as 75% int, 25% int/str. This sounds weird at first but it makes sense when thinking about the passive tree. Witch will most commonly path towards the stint area for aura, spirit and minion nodes, while sorceress will path towards the monk area for elemental damage, crit and mana.
Following this, we could look at the other classes. Monk vs Shadow. Monk wants attack nodes so will move down towards ranger’s area (75% dex/int, 25% dex) while, if it’s how it is in PoE1, shadow will commonly use spells and move towards the intelligence area. Ranger vs Huntress, huntress will want melee nodes from the str regions while ranger will want crit from the dex/int area. Mercenary will be more ranged-oriented (25% dex) while duelist will likely be more melee oriented (25% str). Warrior will likely want the block and totem nodes from the stint area, so marauder will likely want something like attack speed or bleed from the stdex area.
I know its PoE and many builds will stray from this sort of design (for example, a poison shadow will probably move more towards the ranger area than the mage area), but I still think this a cool way to conceptualize and differentiate the classes, and I wonder if this is actually how GGG planned out their character concepts.
Anyways, this is just food for thought and could end up being completely wrong, but I’m bored waiting for the 6th, so I felt like writing this up.
