Really, goth was a loose term used to describe a recognizable cohort of bands from 76-85 who made music dominated by heavy, repetitive bass and drum lines, jangling guitars and mournful vocals with lyrics explicitly referring to taboo subjects such as death, sex and the end of the world. Goth incorporates some common counter-culture themes like a creative DIY ethos and a tendency to identify as “other” to a perceived “mainstream”, but specifically brings in a romantic, dark, and sometimes a future-looking or post-apocalyptic sensibility. Before I start, I know there's always a more gentle and understanding way to approach sensitive conversations, and there's always room for improvement.
That said, my girlfriend is a caring person, but I've noticed she's often short with her parents, especially over small things. It seems to me like they're just trying to connect with her, but she sometimes snaps at them, even when it doesn't seem warranted.
random examples off the top of my head
Recently, when we were on a train and her mom was asking about which stop we should get off at, my girlfriend got annoyed by the questions and made a snappy remark. I gently stepped in, saying, "Your mom just wants to know which stop we’re getting off at," and that was the end of it. I've witnessed these snappy remarks from both siblings time and time again before I made that first remark.
But it got me thinking more about her family dynamics. Her sister, for instance, can be much more demanding. The other day, when her mom asked if she wanted ice cream, her sister responded with, "No, but you'll give it to me when I'm ready." It's a tone I really dislike—aggressive and dismissive. I don't feel comfortable stepping in, but it's hard to listen to. It happens all fucking day literally.
After bringing it up to my girlfriend, though, things didn't go well. She was upset that I called it "bratty behavior" which I do regret. (I was mentioning her sibling there) She wanted me to be more supportive, to think about why she's acting that way instead of judging it. I get where she's coming from, and I do care about her feelings, but I also think it's normal to recognize when someone's behavior isn't great, especially since her mom is sick and elderly.
I expect to be called out for my negative approaches towards people, but she said she would never think I was acting wrong—she’d just consider it hard for me, and try to understand what I'm going through. Maybe I'm a bit more old school, but I do want to be more supportive without ignoring when things feel off.
Anyway I feel like a dick. However I'm a little torn between wanting to support my partner but I can't help but recognise that it's poor behaviour at the same time. I can't just see it as, ah she's having a hard time.
What do you guys think.

Okay I know this is personal and I should not be going to strangers on the internet but I’m curious if anyone has ever been in this position. I currently have $25k in undergrad loans and have a few more classes to take. I know PA school will be ~$100k plus living expenses. My parents are extremely wealthy but use it as a way to control and manipulate everybody around them. Help is not free, there is a big mental and emotional cost. They have offered to help with PA school, although I’m not sure how much. They have mentioned covering living expenses. My mental health has suffered most of my life bc of their emotional abusive behavior and I have fought very hard to get out of their grip. I know to people who have not been in a similar situation it can sound ridiculous to even complain about this. Is it absurd to prefer to go almost 200k in debt over being controlled and manipulated for the next few years? Anyone have a similar experience??

I have two daughters that are 4 and 6 respectively. Nearly three years ago my aunt passed away after a long battle with cancer. She knew it was terminal for a while and would never meet her own grandchildren. My daughters were the closest she was ever going to have to grandchildren. She was a family centered person and loooooved babies. She really enjoyed buying stuff for my girls.
Fast forward to now and my cousin just announced he and his wife are expecting a baby girl next year. I saved every single dress/outfit my aunt bought my girls. After she died I put them all in a bag.
How do I give them to my cousin? I want it to feel like my aunt bought them for her own granddaughter, they just went to me first, you know? Do I just hand them the bag or do I do something special??
