Will my PA System be Loud Enough?
I have offered to provide a sound system for my child's dance group show as I have a reasonably decent portable system. What I didn't realise was the sold out large school hall has a capacity of 500 people... There will be a variety of recorded music and two singing parts with wireless mics. I have a pair of Martin Audio XD12, 450w RMS with a continuous rated output of 124dB 80° coverage, running bi amped (400+50) with a Matrix Audio xt4004 rated 650w per channel RMS. I also have 3x FBT Subline 115sa with continuous rated output of 132dB each. Subs crossed at 90hz.
I plan to have the tops high on tripods on the sides of the stage (15-20m apart) with the subs grouped centre on the stage. The 'dancefloor' is the sports hall in front of the stage, circa 20m (65 feet) to the start of the audience in raked seating. I'd say the hall is 50m wide.
I don't need to reach rock concert levels but decent sound would be good. I'm also slightly worried about deafening the dancers to reach a decent level in the audience!
The alternative would be to run the mains on the sides of the dancefloor much closer to the audience, say 5m away, but the subs would have to stay on the stage with some 'sidefill' rear facing 8' FBT active speakers for the dancefloor and the singing acts. I'd have to get another amp for this arrangement and it would restrict the dancefloor so I'd like to avoid it if possible.
Do you think my system is decent enough for this application? Should I go for the dancefloor speakers option? If I went for dancefloor speakers option, would 15m / 43ms delay on the mains be ok or is that too much and cause weird issues?
I would appreciate any thoughts. Thanks.
