First of all, I sorry if my English isn’t perfect, my first language is French and sorry it may be long a little.
So I (31F) grew up with split up parents and it never bothered me. My father remarried and he is with my step-mother since I’m 4 years old. So she basically raise me like one of her own. My mom on the other and I love her don’t get me wrong, but she is more like a friend. Sometime I feel like I am more mature than her. Younger I used to live with her and I had to change school every year, sometimes 2 times a year because we were moving. Either a he was sick of living somewhere or most of the time it was because she was splitting up with her boyfriend and she changed boyfriend a lot.
When I started high school, it didn’t work between us, we were fighting all the time so she decided to send me at my father‘s place. And that’s where I stayed through all high school, always staying at the same school and having a routine helped me a lot. I feel like that is the reason why i have a good life. Staying where I was would have probably driven me on the wrong path. (My brother did.😕) And through all that time my step-mother raised me the best she could with me being a teenager and not her real daughter. Sometime it’s not easy. You have no say on a lot of thing. But today we are close and I’m super grateful on everything she did for me. I always say I have 2 mothers.
Now, I found out I was pregnant 6 months ago, so it’s time for the baby shower soon. When we did our gender reveal (little girl by the way), my mom told me she would like to be the one to buy me a car seat. But that all she said, no precision or nothing. Also it is my first child so I don’t really know much about stuff I need, how it will goes and a lot of stuff like that. About a month ago my stepmother proposed that her, my sisters in law and me go shopping together to fill up a registry list and get an idea of what I need since she had my 2 brothers. So, we went and while we were there we saw a stroller kit that comes with a car seat so you can just take your baby from the car and put her in the stroller right away. We looked at everything on it and we both fell in love with it. It was I nice moment because we connected on something. It was more the moment I appreciated than the object. So I figured it would be logic that my stepmother buys it. And also I would like to have that same kind of moment with my mother where we connect and have tips on motherhood.
But the thing is, in all that, and I understand a little, my mother is jealous of my stepmother because I have a good relationship with her. But at the same time I often feel like she was there when my mother was not. I also didn’t says it earlier but my mother has a small drinking problem. She was mean to me plenty of time before when she was drinking for silly reason. Like telling me I am a disappointment of a daughter because I didn’t bring her COOKING BOOK back yet. We got a lot of fights like that before, but I always forgive her because she is my mom and I’m all she has. Also when she is not drinking she is fine.
I told her that my stepmother wanted to buy the stroller that we both fell in love with, but I need another car seat anyway because we have 2 cars. The things is that she got super mad, saying that the other one wins again, and she has a right as a mother to buy the thing she choose. I told her that I would a lot more prefer to go shop with her because I need another car seat or even I didn’t find the perfect bed and I’ve been looking a lot. I told her we could take a moment mothedaughter together. She finally said ok fine and then after she was sending me beds online, like she didn’t want to got shop. She just sent me a bunch that night. And then after, silence radio.
Two weeks later, I called her to talk about Christmas if she wanted to do a supper or something and she started saying she was mad at my stepmother she wanted to jump in her face. I tried again to explain everything. She just played the victim saying she was a disappointment, that she never had the place she is supposed to have. She said I was good at putting other people at important place in my heart. The thing is I’m tired of always reassuring her. So, Am I the asshole?

I’m so glad I got one for Father’s Day this year, and this Reddit has been a lifesaver for information before the big day. Turkey came out amazing. 15lb bird, brined in bird baptism for 22 hours, fridge dried for 12 hours, seasoned with Texas Sugar, cooked for about 3 hours at 250-275, and rested for 2 hours. Amazingly juicy, great flavor and smoke, and super easy to carve spatchcocked, rib cage and breast bone removed. Only thing I’d change next year is a longer fridge dry out time, it was still pretty wet even sitting on a cooling rack in the fridge.

Twilight: the only one doing it normally, sets an alarm for her time and has all the CRNs and backup plans for her backup plans written down, probably doesn’t need them though since she’s a princess and has priority registration ⭐️👸
Rarity: has a mental breakdown because her sections keep filling up a few minutes before her registration time, and she needs to have her schedule fit around her job 🪡💎
Applejack: same issue as rarity with her job, except she loudly bitches to the advisors and then the department head (in person, because she can’t write a proper email for shit) about her not being able to take a class because it’s not offered this semester or she didn’t meet one (1) prereq 😤🍎
Fluttershy: gets confused on what to register for because she asked for advice from numerous ppl that have all said different things about certain classes and profs 😬🦋
Pinkie: doesn’t bother signing up for her major classes, just walks in on the first day and they let her stay even if she’s not enrolled. She spends her timeslot filling her schedule with a bunch of random electives like “Party Planning Appreciation 101” 🍰🎈
Rainbow: sleeps through her registration time 😭 and wakes up to find everything full except for 8 ams. Has submitted a bunch of force requests because she physically CANNOT get up that early ⚡️🌈
Bonus Starlight: created a script bot to do her registration for her, but it backfired since it made the portal crash ✨🦄
