I’m a 30 year old white straight dude
My stats
Education: BS 3.93, MS 4.0
Certs: PMP, Scrum Master, Black Belt, SAS
LSAT: 155, low 60s should be achievable for me. I know it’s low and I’ll keep trying I retest in Jan.
Work experience: Over 10 years in the military, 4x deployments, enlisted dirtbag. In my civilian career I worked for a household tech name as a PM in Europe post separation. Returned to the US and worked for a prime defense contractor as a PM.
LORs: I have 4x and I’ve read that some schools allow 4 but you should only submit that many if they offer unique perspectives. I believe that they accomplish that with various ranks, officer v enlisted, and deployment accomplishments.
I worked with this E-9 since he was an E-7. We deployed together during the Afghanistan evacuation and I was managing xx fighter jets, and 1xx people.
E-8 similar story as above except during the Iran escalations in 19 - 20 when we targeted general soleimani and the fallout afterwards.
My O-4 who I deployed with in 19 - 20 but this letter would focus on my achievements in between the two deployments above which was not far apart.
Supervisor from when I was newer in the military which also includes my deployment in 15 with them when the whole isis summer bash popping off.
Personal unique stuff: I spent the probably 80% of my life as an adult outside of the US.
Volunteering: I’m a bicycle nerd there’s a place by me that takes in donated bikes and gives them to kids and families at no cost. I go in and fix up bicycles a few times a month.
I’m only targeting schools in CO, WA, OR, and CA.

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about what makes people motivated or disciplined, learning about different frameworks there are in order to get more organised and get things done. I think it's safe to say that we've all been there - at this point in life, where every little task feels like climbing a mountain with a backpack full of bricks. Even stuff we used to enjoy might feel like a chore at this point.
So, I’m curious: what’s your worst problem when it comes to motivation? Is it burnout? Stress? A feeling of pointlessness? How do you deal with it? Do you have strategies to fight this state, or do you just wing it, until it passes?
To me personally, the worst to my motivation is doing a lot of stuff that is "expected" of me. If I had a stressful week where my to-do lists were never-ending, it's of utmost importance to me that I plan and allocate proper "me-time", where I can just do whatever I like - whether it is going outdoors and enjoying nature, doing long workouts, or slump on the couch and watch Netflix all day. On those days, everything I do is directly linked to my own decisions, and no one else's.
I'm looking forward to your contribution!
