My roommate and I have a two bedroom rent stabilized apartment. He's not planning to renew, but I like the place and would like to stay longer term. Is it possible for me to renew a rent stabilized lease alone or would it be treated as the end of lease and then I'd need to apply again? We got a good deal a while back and I'm a little concerned that if it'll count as the end of our current lease, the landlord would install additional amenities into the apartment and then would re-rent it at a higher rate. Please let me know if you have an idea of how that works. Thanks!

2024.11.29 23:31 neurogeneticist Osurnia was administered for ear infection noticed during dental cleaning, my dog is now deaf 2 days later. Vet has yet to respond - do I need to get urgent/emergent care?
My dog (13 neutered M, bichon and poodle, ~14 lb) went in for a dental cleaning on Tuesday. We knew he’d likely need at least a few extractions and was also having a few suspected sebaceous adenomas removed.
~2.5 weeks ago, he was very touchy around his left jaw and appeared to be in quite a bit of pain. We assumed it was his back left teeth. We got him in to our vet office, but the vet who we ended up with wasn’t able to see in his mouth because he wouldn’t let her. She asked me to help - I did my best to see in (he hadn’t let my husband or I do so at home) and thought that I could see that one of his top left molars was broken. She took a VERY quick look and agreed. He had a week of amoxicillin and quite a few gabapentin prescribed (we only needed them for about a week - I assumed that he simply had an infected tooth (aka the broken one I thought I had seen) that was cleared up by antibiotics and that we’d be set after the dental cleaning and extractions.
After the surgery, the vet called me to let me know that he did well, had 6 extractions and a few residual roots removed, and that they had noticed some “gunk” in his ears so they swabbed it. Turns out he had an infection on both sides (this is the first one he’s ever had in over 9 years of being his owner - his ears have NEVER been an issue) so they treated it.
I wasn’t told much else other than he needs to come back in a week for the second dose. We went home late Tuesday evening and he didn’t appear to be listening to us, but he had been under anesthesia for a few hours so we assumed it was related to that.
Yesterday we noticed he still wasn’t listening well - but again, thought maybe it was some of the meds still wearing off. It was also a busy day so he was frequently just bouncing around between people anyways. Once everything quieted down later on it was pretty clear he had little to no hearing.
I looked up the drug facts and adverse event reporting for Osurnia and noticed that hearing loss/deafness has been reported, particularly in elderly dogs.
I called our vet first thing this morning - we realized we could shout ANY of his favorite words right next to him and he’d have no response. He hates the beeping noises AirTags make when they’re pinged and will freak out at that and cowerun and start shaking/panting. We pinged one right next to his ear - zero response, he had no idea it was there.
I talked to a receptionist who took down my info and a doctor would call me back. I hadn’t heard back by 3, so I called again - same receptionist who was rude with me and told me the doctors are busy and barely able to eat their lunches today so they might not get back to me until tomorrow. I finally got her to transfer me to a tech who said she’d talk to the vets and have one call me back.
It’s now 5:30, I’ve heard nothing. I’ve tried to reach out to Dechra, they aren’t getting back to me.
Do I need to just bite the bullet and take him to an emergency vet? I just don’t know if there’s anything that can be done to increase the chances of him regaining hearing!
Thanks in advance for any opinions - and FWIW, I’m not going to reddit instead of looking for something in person, I’m on hold with Dechra and already have a list of places open on Friday evenings to call once I’m off.

She even asked for my IG and followed me on there. Felt like she would get bored of texting so I threw out the idea of a chill non-pressure meet up. To see if we vibe cause I cannot tell how she feels at all through texts, but this is her response. No clue how to move further without looking desperate or dumb.
