2024.11.30 01:00 Limp_Development_683 Non-Alcoholic Wine for my Grandmother
Hi all. My grandmother recently suffered a stroke. Her recovery has been decent, but she insists on having a glass of wine some nights. This creates an issue, as she often forgets she already had a glass of wine and pours herself another. I'm worried about her balance and her health and I'm wondering if anyone knows of some non-alcoholic wines that would look/taste similar enough to real wine (specifically white, rosé, proseco) or if anyone has another solution. Obviously, I watch her and limit her, but it really frustrates her that I tell her no. She's very headstrong and she doesn't quite understand that she can't be as independent as before.

2024.11.30 01:00 -Clayburn What, if anything, prevents a person from intentionally doing something that gets their organization sued in order to benefit someone else?
Whenever a company gets sued, they payout damages (if they lose) or settle. A lot of times the reason the company gets sued is because of the actions of a particular employee. I suppose sometimes that employee could be legally liable, but it seems like people tend to focus on the companies because they have deeper pockets.
But anyway, what sort of things prevent a scenario like this from happening:
You're a middle manager at a big corporation. Your good friends with one of the employees in your department and they desperately need money because of some medical issue. So you call them a racial slur and announce that they're fired in front of the rest of the department.
Now they sue the company. The company maybe settles and they get a payout.
You probably get fired, but that could be mitigated if the settlement is big enough the coworker could just share it with you. Also, as part of a settlement, they could even say they don't want you fired or that they don't want it to be publicized what happened, which would allow you to seek employment elsewhere without that on your record.
So why doesn't this happen all the time? Especially settlement sharing. (Or maybe it does happen often, I don't know.)

Just had my first ever Spontaneous Pneumothorax 32 female. My right long was 50 percent collapsed but they think that was over a span of 2 weeks. I got a chest tube in right away and my lung went back to normal in about 12 hours or less. They clamped the tube to make sure my lung stayed okay and was out of the hospital after my second night. I think it happened for lifting heavy boxes and running up 3 flights of stairs. I keep hearing stories of people getting recurring pneumothorax but would LOVE some one timers only. I am so scared for this to happen again and the doc told me only a 20 percent change but it seems everything I read everyone almost always has a second one. Has anyone only had one and been completely fine after?!

I'm currently on my area 51 expedition that I like to do every couple of years and in the past I've ridden my dirt bike up to the New Templute Mine to video the old buildings and such. This time when I got up the hill, I found both of the old gates chained shut with fresh padlocks and loads of "No Trespassing" signs peppering the perimeter. A huge bummer since I really loved walking through those old buildings.
Does anyone know if the mine was purchased in the last couple of years? I kinda want to make sure it's not just an angry local who put unenforceable signs up on public land because they have beef with tourists or something (I've ran into that with places I've explored in the past.)
