I need your opinions because, I'm struggling with whether it's worth it or not -
Hello everyone, I need your opinions because I'm debating whether it's worth it - so originally I planned to go on a trip to Iceland for 4-5 days, my main goal was to see the Northern Lights (because it's my biggest dream, and I've seen a few "news" that this year is supposedly one of the best to see), but also to see the most interesting places such as ice caves (I don't know if there is a difference visiting them in winter and summer?), or glacier, and try to drive around the island. However, after I started planning - what clothes to wear, where to go and what car to rent - I came across this subreddit and read a few posts about winter driving in Iceland. And here comes my question: is there a good chance of seeing the northern lights within 4-5 days, and is winter driving in Iceland really that dangerous? I'm from central Europe, so I haven't experienced driving on ice like people describe, but (I don't know if it changes anything :D) I'm a truck driver, and I've driven in difficult (for trucks, of course) conditions, through the Alps in winter, etc. (I know that roads there are constantly maintained in good conditions).
Please let me know your opinions, I will be very grateful.

Also a moral dilemma.
As a ECE in Australia I have mentored many students in my kindergarten over the years. At the moment I have one that is doing the Grad-dip at Uni and is undertaking 15 days of placement in my room. He is an Indian student who has stated to my coworker that he is only studying the Grad-dip to get or keep his visa. He has no intention of working with children and it is clear from his demeanor that he doesn't even want to be there. He leaves early and complains when asked if he could do something.
My issues include the fact that it took me 3 years to get my teaching degree and he will qualify (and never use his) in 1 year.
I also have to record his hours for my mentor payment, and I do not want to lie for him to get through the placement quickly. I have decided I won't be doing this.
Sadly, he'll probably get through. It's very frustrating to me, not just because of the visa situation, but because he's always in my way, creeping up and looking over my shoulder or just standing and staring at me. Management don't care because they get paid for placement students. The uni probably won't care because as far as they're concerned as long as he does what he has to do, he can do whatever he has to do with his degree. And they also get paid for it.
What would you do? Just bear with it until he leaves?

I’m an early 30’s Australian girl and want to get a 6 months student visa to study a language in a different country. I’m interested in learning both Spanish and French so can’t decide. I’m super social so I feel like it might be easier to make friends with Spanish people, worried it will be too hard to break into French friendship groups. Also not a huge fan of the cold. Also I’ve never been to Madrid. I’ve been to Paris years ago for a week and loved it, could imagine myself living there but I’m not sure if that’s just a stupid fantasy and I’d actually hate it there and be lonely. Also open to other suggestions.. is there another big city in Spain this would be better? I’ve only ever visited Barcelona and don’t think I’d live there. Saville seems to be popular but I don’t know if it would be better than Madrid? I looked at Berlin but the problem I’m having is, you have to have a certain amount of money in your account for your student visa to be accepted. The amount for Germany is a lot higher than France and Spain so I’ve crossed that one off the list.

i know that in order to pass the whole course you need at least a 50% on the lab portion but what happens when you get below a 50% on the lab but a decent grade in the overall course? do you have to retake the entire course or is there an option to just redo the lab portion? any help or advice is appreciated.

I’d like to upgrade my laptop from a Lenovo Yoga C930 to something that can handle better graphics on my cozy game (dreamlight valley) and processing Adobe. Currently I have to play on lowest graphic settings to avoid horrible lag, and InDesign takes an hour to do a 5 minute task.
Lenovo Legion Slim comes up a lot but going over $1,000 seems silly for my end use (no COD type games). However, I don’t want to have such minimal upgrade that I could’ve just lived with my current setup.

Me (24F) and ex-fiance (28M) just broke up yesterday (literally on Thanksgiving). To preface, we were already having a lot of issues prior for maybe like ~2 months. But basically, we were high school sweethearts for 4 years and were super toxic on and off and then recently came into contact 6 years later. We started dating/got engaged/moved in all within the same year. I know it’s a lot, and silly, but I swore I wasn’t being love bombed and that we had just rekindled due to some kind of fate. It definitely wasn’t.
For context, he had really bad angeego/pride/temper issues. We had so many issues, from him lying about stuff and his exes and how serious they were, to doing testosterone behind my back , to then literally physically and emotionally abusing me. Anyways to make the story short, he hated ever involving my family or his family in our problems (of course) but after we had a huge physical altercation and he left my face bruised (not ONCE, but twice) I had to tell my mom. She ended up calling the cops on him the next night while we were sitting and watching tv together and I was interrogated for an hour, of course ended up lying to cover for him. I know it’s stupid. But we’ve been trying to work through it for a while and then yesterday, something huge broke out and I’m even more upset because I’m having a hard time recalling all the details. We had all been drinking with his family and at one point I was getting tired so I asked him when he’s going to bed because I like going to sleep with him, he said 10 minutes, so I said no problem continued to wait. He has this habit of extending things and then never telling me, but I’m shy around his mom and I didn’t want to say anything else after the 10 minutes have already passed. So I guess out of being upset I nudged his leg a bit hard, which resulting in me getting up and heading to bed, to where he followed me. The last thing I remember is saying let go of me or I’m gonna scream and he yelled NO, his step dad heard and him and his mom came into the room and he was basically on top of me. He ended up storming out and texted his mom something along the lines of “sorry you had to see that, don’t ever contact me again, goodbye”, and to me he wrote “we’re done, it’s over. I’ll pack ur shit up and send it to you but don’t ever contact me again you’re blocked forever.” I was so devastated I ended up staying at his moms and we have a great relationship, she hugged me and cried with me. This morning we talked for 6 hours and she told me that his dad (who he did not know) was aggressive and used to hurt her too, even when she was pregnant with him, and she begged me to punish her son (my ex) and to not get back with him if he comes for me. We were literally crying together and she blessed me before I left back to my home.
I’m just so upset and I’m also a full time student/full time work, and I’m terrified to even go back to the same town/even imagine what he can do in the future. I guess I’m making this post for some support. I don’t really have many friends due to this abusive relationship and am just pretty lonely overall because I was so used to being with him everyday. I feel so crushed that he even ended things the way he did and I hate that I still love him and miss him already even though it hasn’t even been a day. Does anyone have a similar experience or some advice? I’d really appreciate it.
