2024.11.30 10:54 Block-Busted So I watched 'Pom Poko' and 'The Tale of the Princess Kaguya' as parts of Ghibli Fest, and...
...well, let's talk about one by one.
Pom Poko - This is the third Ghibli film by Isao Takahata and perhaps the first time he made a fantasy film at the studio - and it is WEIRD! If you thought the whole scrotum joke was the only thing it had, wait till you see how bizarre it can get. In fact, character designs suddenly change at times from realistic looks to extremely cartoony looks, some of the scenes feel very trippy, and the ending somehow includes a 4th wall breaking that I wasn't even expecting to see!
Having said that, I'm not sure if this is the kind of film where I can just sit back and revel in weirdness like I did with The Cat Returns due to the downer ending that the film has. Yeah, I was aware of the film's environmental message before, but the ending is even sadder when I watch the film with raccoons basically going their separate ways.
The Tale of the Princess Kaguya - This is the final film by Isao Takahata before his passing in 2018 and I see why at least some people think that this is one of the greatest animated films of all time. I personally didn't love it as much, but there's no doubt that this is a great film and I also get how this was the most expensive anime film of all time before The Boy and the Heron showed up.
I also see why this did poorly at the box office. The film's tone is very somber with Kaguya seemingly languishing in misery most of the time. As much as I think this was worth watching at least once, I'm not sure if I would want to watch it again. Maybe that servant girl could lighten up the mood at times.
I watched both of these films in Japanese because I feel like Takahata's films might work better in that language. I am, however, kind of curious about the dubbing of The Tale of the Princess Kaguya given the involvement of Chloe Grace Moretz (Hit Girl), James Caan (Sonny Corleone), and Lucy Liu (Master Viper). Also, I just found out that the film also had James Marsden (Tom "Donut Lord" Wakowski), Oliver Platt (Man in Black Suit), Daniel Dae Kim (Chief Benja), and John Cho (Hikaru Sulu), which makes me even more curious now.
At the very least, Ghibli Fest this year is going to end on a very, Very, VERY uplifting note because it's going to show my favorite film of 1988. Can you guess what that is? 😉😁

Pozdrav, vozio sam automobil tuda, stub sa 4 kamere je postavljen na mestu gde ima obavezan znak stop i pešački prelaz, ne znam šta ta kamera može da zabeleži od prekršaja i da li ih uopšte beleži, jedna gleda na raskrsnicu, a druga gleda na ulicu Živojina Tabakovića, ona koja vodi ka okretnici 513 dole u Moštaničkoj reci. Ostale dve kamere su pokretne i snimaju trotoar i dvorište ispred Doma zdravlja. Da li kamere možda služe samo ako bude neki udes, pa da se pregleda snimak naknadno ili su automatske? S obzirom na to da je pre dve nedelje skršen jedan Alfa Romeo crveni na toj raskrsnici, imao sam priliku da to vidim.

Hi all. I was trying to install my tado wireless receiver to the boiler. I had a British Gas wr1 wireless receiver instructions were fine for removing that.
But I also have/had a Honeywell timer. I was trying to see if I could open it up when it broke away from the wall and is now broken.
I was hoping to open it up, see how difficult it would be to rewire and close it back up and get an electrician in if it was beyond me. That's now not an option and the tado instructions aren't helpful. Is anyone able to help. I'm attaching photos here. The first is the Honeywell timer wiring the second is the wr1 receiver. I have a feeling I should have just replaced this and left the Honeywell alone...
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have tried looking up the cheapest places I can find, and it will still cost about 15 k (GBP) for implants, and I don't think I can afford the repayments. My teeth have ruined my life. I can't bear talking to people, scared they will stare at my rotten teeth, as has happened in the past. I used to cover my smile as a child, they were really bad from about the age of 10. I think partially it could be an enamel defect, but, my parents did just not raise me to brush them, and I was fed a very poor diet; like potatoes, pasta and only tinned vegetables, never fresh. Practically no calcium. I don't know if I can ever forgive it. It was such a basic lack of care.
It's just so hard, but I have to do something about this. I can't live like this anymore
