Around about a month ago I made a post asking languagelearning if learning a new language has opened up a new side of the internet for them and got some interesting responses. Mandarin Chinese has always interested me but I don't see myself traveling to the country anytime soon and there aren't many Chinese people where I live so I'm curious what the Chinese side of the internet is like as that's where I'd be using the language most.
Some comments on my post suggested Mandarin due to how isolated the ecosystem is and how different it is from the rest of the internet. This, alongside the fact that I was already interested in the language, sparked the idea for this post.
I'm curious what the modern internet is like (internet culture), how much high quality media there is in the language compared to English (movies, shows, music etc.) and what the experience has been like for foreigners learning Chinese and experiencing it for the first time.
Looking forward to hearing about it all :)

Gonna try to make this as short as possible but me 28f and fiancé 28m recently got engaged and are planning to be married November 2025. I would have been happy to elope in the first place but fiancé wanted to ‘do things right’ and after we found the venue I was starting to get excited about an actual wedding. We found a venue that has like an airb&b campground onsite on a lake, the idea was the wedding would be Saturday and hoping as many people could stay Friday too and make a weekend out of it. Now they weren’t super cheap but I thought affordable considering the amenities of the airb&b and being on the lake. 2-3bedrooms w/ 1-2bathroom cabins were $400-500 a night. There’s only about 60 guests and mostly family. My side of family is of average or above average income that travels regularly and have traveled for other weddings so I didn’t think this was completely unreasonable especially if families could share and split cost.
So after just spending the holidays with everyone and showing them the airb&bs so far the first thing everyone has brought up is the cost. No one has said no, but by the look on their faces they seem shocked. It just felt so uncomfortable and embarrassing.
At this point the wedding is more for them and no one seems into it. I wouldn’t mind paying that much to be able to spend the whole weekend with everyone and really make memories but 10k just for one day I can’t justify. Should we just scrap the whole thing and elope?

If you are asking how and why? So when I was watching some Lethal Company game play, and when I was looking at the game play closely it looked like a game that I saw before, then I found out the game play kinda looks like Unplagued, well for me.
Connections (that I can think of)
The core connections between the Plague doctors and Employees are that both are customize player characters from modern day indie games (both can have 4 players or solo). Both games the players need to get random items for the main mission (Plague doctors- need to get random ingredients to make the cure, Employees- need to get random junk to sell to reach your quota) after both finish with what they need to do they move on to the next round (Plague doctors- move on to the next village, Employees- move on to the next quota). Both need to run away or fight back from different types of monsters. Both games players can buy different types of items for the next round (Plague doctors- get random coins around the village to buy items that will help with the next village, Employees- get money if you make it to the quota to buy items to help with the next quota).
This is so stupid that I like it, but I know this is very, VERY ever happening.

The scene in Germany - just like in the Netherlands - was not monolith. It was varied, fragmented, with multiple tendencies, styles, groups, players, movers, shakers. Some were into more Acidic or Technoid stuff. Others into fun party Gabber. Maybe even into Rave- Trancecore music. And Speedcore, Breakcore, all-out terror. But regardless of that - there are some common descriptions and motions we can attribute to this scene - even if it is not a "one size fits all" thing.
Because compared to the Dutch scene, there was much less focus on a cheerful, "happy", or dance sound. Instead - an affection towards brutality, violence, mayhem and things bleak, nihilist, and depressive.
So instead of dance-y hoovers you had trash metal samples; instead of pitched up female pop singers you had monologues by robert de niro or sergeant paula about death and war; instead of MCs calling you to get down and join the dancefloor you had the most heart-rending screams by people of all genders sampled straight out of "video nasties" and similar media; and instead of a "bouncy drum", the bass kick more often resembled the sound of a pile driver or other heavy duty machinery.
Oh, despite of all this darkness and obliteration, these producers, fans, and underground "party" people were not violent maniacs "in real life". Those that I met were often amongst the most friendly, elated, optimistic people I know. It's just that they were seriously messed up in their heads. In the most positive way! Like we all are. Likable freaks.
Ah, and on the topic of parties: the Dutch had big stadiums, arenas, small or large-size clubs and discos... And in Germany the parties were often in squats, abandoned buildings, under a bridge, in a hole, in the mud.... No ventilation, no lights, just ~150 people cramped in a pitch black room with fog, strobes, and 120+ decibel of killer bass frequencies.
Like one of the Hateparade / F**kparade creators once said: "You know it's a good party when your clothes are covered in mud afterwards".
There are certainly similarities to the scenes of other countries - like USA, UK, France, Australia... but we will look at that at another time.

Hello all, as the title says, I have a NAS with RAID 0 where I store all media from RadarSonarr, currently I have 2 16TB HDDs on there and plan to add 2 more to fill out my 4 bays. I have a TerraMaster F4-210 4bay NAS. It was my first time and I used RAID 0 bc I really have nothing important on there that could be lost, it’s only just the media for my Jellyfin server. However, I am running out of storage (something I would’ve never predicted when I first started, but I have some friends and family that actually use it and request quite a bit through Jellyseerr which is wonderful). My initial thought was to delete old movies and shows that aren’t watched but since Cyber Monday deals are upon us I thought why not get some more Hard Drives to fill out my remaining 2 slots. The advice I am looking for here is how to go about setting it up with Radarr and Sonarr, i think it would be way too much time to reconfigure all 4 into one RAID 0 and have to redownload all the media. Should I just add the new filesystem as the new root folder and make that primary once I’m completely out of storage or is there something else I can/should do. Any advice would be helpful, thanks.

2024.11.30 10:30 Due-Competition3353 Feeling lost and stuck in a freaking cycle
I don’t know where to start, but I’m really struggling, and I don’t know how much longer I can keep going like this. I feel like I’m losing touch with everything that used to matter.
I’ve been staying up late — really late — like 7 AM in the morning late. Today, I finally managed to sleep at 9 AM, but my sleeping schedule is completely messed up. I haven’t eaten anything in hours, and when I do eat, I end up overeating, just to feel something. I know my health is deteriorating, but I don’t have the energy or willpower to fix it.
The worst part is, all I think about is money. I’ve got enough of it to survive, but I’m constantly stressing over it. I made about $400 this month, which is a decent amount here in Bangladesh, but I spent it all. Now I have nothing, and I’m waiting for my mom to send me money. If she doesn’t, I’m afraid I might starve. And yet, despite all of this, I feel like a failure, like I’m completely lost.
I don’t talk to my parents much anymore. I haven’t had a real conversation with them in weeks, and I haven’t even gone to class for the last three months. I’m living in a university dorm where everyone is just as lost as I am. They stay up till 5 AM, smoking and living a life I don’t want, but feel stuck in. I’m trapped in this cycle, and I’m not even sure I want to keep going.
I’ve been struggling with my faith too. I follow Islam, but lately, I’ve been doing things I know I shouldn’t. I’ve been sinning, cheating people out of what they deserve, acting rude and toxic — and I actually thought it was “cool” for a while. I’ve even started joking about my religion, and some days, I feel like I might be losing my faith entirely.
All I can think is that I’m living like an animal. I don’t have friends, no one cares about me, and if I were to die today, I don’t think anyone would even visit my grave. I just feel so alone in this world. I’m so depressed, and sometimes, I honestly think it would be better if I weren’t here at all.
I don’t want to keep living like this. I don’t know how to get out of this dark hole, but I can’t seem to stop sinking deeper.
I guess I’m just looking for someone who might understand what I’m going through, or at least someone who could help me see things differently. I feel like I’ve lost everything, but maybe there’s still a way back. I just need to know I’m not the only one feeling like this.
