As I see many centrally located sits in London have low applications (which can only happen at this time of year), I wonder where the sitters have gone?
For me, here are my reasons (in no particular order) for not wanting to do a sit during Xmas and New Year:
1) The weather is usually bad for travelling around
2) The transportation costs are too high
3) Many shops/businesses/museums are not open so I can't have a full experience of the city
4) I don't like festive holidays. Not a fan of Christmas markets myself.
For others:
1) Need to be home with their family

It’s time to either upgrade my current bike or sell and buy new and I’m seeking some advice. Current setup is a XXL Trek Roscoe 7 hardtail, 27.5+, capable of taking a 29” wheel-set. It needs a new cassette and fork service after 4 years of riding, this last year I took on NICA coaching for the club at the high school I teach at. I can’t help but feel I could keep up with the kids better if I had a 29er and skinnier tires. I have my eyes on a new Specialized Chisel but am torn between the hardtail and full suspension. What would you do if it were you? Cost to upgrade the current might be similar to buying new if pricing from Trek for a 29” wheel-set is same as what I was told when I bought the bike, not to mention the other needs. It’s not the typical buying season but I also think I ought to do this before we’re all paying for the upcoming tariffs here in the US.

Hello, I'm trying to build a native android app that heavily depends on SMS retrieval and processing. I have defined the permissions, granted them at run time and defined my broadcast receiever in the manifest.
Everything works. But the app is being flagged as malware by all devices.
I don't want to use foreground services as it will use an intrusive persistent notification. I just want the app to work in a way that it generates a Json from some SMS messages.
I know this is achievable, since Truecaller does it. I don't want persistent notifications and the app should work even when it's not in use.
Is there something I'm doing wrong? Truecaller does this perfectly even without being set as the default SMS app and it will not show any notifications, except for when you get the SMS.
How can I achieve this?

2024.11.30 16:30 UnitedRooster4020 Weird under review charges massive amounts no details

I had an accident with quick cat scan not long ago, no treatment and was out in hours. Two claims appear approved with reasonable copay. However there's two other claims "in review" that look like the difference from what full costs were vs coverage. Specifically one is roughly 99,000 and the other 45,000 when the approved claims are 5k and 1k with a few hundred I owe.
Common sense tells me it's a quirk in the system but I can't seem to get a fold of anyone with access to that information to confirm between that offices available hours and the crazy phone system designed to make it difficult.
Anyone have similar experience? It's just in "review" status but still unsettling just to see.
It's private employer healthcare as well

I started taking Zoloft (generic) (50mg per day) for my anxiety and I’m experiencing something very close to OCD that i never had before. I’m constantly getting intrusive thoughts about killing other people, committing arson even about drowning my pet. They feel uncomfortable but I am not having a compulsion that i’m aware of.
The other mental conditions I have: ADHD (inattentive), ASD (Level 1), GAD, Complex PTSD. I was also struggling with Severe MMD (with all the suicidal thoughts and shit) but thanks to my dog and Adderall (can be used as an antidepressant), i no longer depressed but Adderall is worsening my Anxiety and that’s why we added zoloft.

Did anyone else hear this from family all Thanksgiving, or was it just me?
I am so tired of people (usually a generation older than me) randomly bringing this up in conversation. I’m not sure how they want me to react. They seem very excited to tell me they think I’ll be unemployed soon.
My neighbor makes sure to bring this up to me every time I see him and I try to cross the street if I see him ahead now.

I started the day by waking up with a stomach ache. Slowly it's gotten worse over the day. This afternoon nausea set in and it kept getting worse along with the stomach ache. 2024.11.30 16:30 Slight_Glass_899 Digital Phase Shifter for Table Saw

Hi All;
I recently purchased a used cabinet style table saw at auction - and didn't take into account that it was from an industrial shop, and the power at the shop would be different from home. It is a 3hp motor that uses 220 volt, 30 amp, 3 phase electricity.
Got an electrician to the house as I have 240 volt service and plus in my garage, but obviously he said we couldn't pull 3 phase for a residential home. He suggested I get and install a Digital Phase Shifter for the table saw, and said I should be able to hook it up no problem as I'm fine doing 95% of electrical tasks.
My question is this - in buying a digital phase shifter, the specifically said DO NOT exceed the motor's horsepower. However, the digital phase shifter for a 3 hp motor was rated for 15 amps. So I bought one that was rated for 30 amps, but its hp is rated at 10 hp. I've linked the one I bought below.
My question is - should I have bought the 3hp and ignored the amps? Or did I do the right thing? Am I about to cause some sort of explosion by using the 10 hp, 30 amp Digital Phase Shifter?
