I'm going to be honest, it has been a debilitating past few years. I went from having no real health issues to an IBS diagnosis, Undiagnosed Pilonidal Sinus Disease, mild/moderate undiagnosed Scheurmanns Kyphosis, an umbilical hernia and now this weird pain and discomfort I'm having in my ribs. All always conditions where nothing can really be done to help me, all always conditions where the doctor doesn't know what I'm talking about and my family thinks I'm just anxious and a hypochondriac, all conditions where seemingly surgery is the only option, but it's also extremely exclusive, expensive and most times not even a real fix. For reference, I live in Houston, TX and I'm uninsured/broke.
Venting aside, here's the weirdness I've been dealing with:
To start things off, I don't know if its slipping rib syndrome as it seems everyone here has either an inciting incident or a hypermobility issue, I have neither. I can't touch my toes, I'm not double jointed, I've never dislocated anything, I don't think I bruise particularly easily, and I haven't sustained any major injury to my knowledge either. The only thing that I have going on with my ribs is that they've always been abnormally flared, probably due to an overcompensation from my mild-moderate kyphosis or just a genetic deformity, I'm not sure. For some time I've felt twinges of pain on the left side a bit under the chest as well as along the ribs both lower and middle ribcage, I usually just dismissed it as weird muscular stuff. Eventually, a few months ago, while getting back into exercising (not back to weightlifting yet, just stationary bike), I had some weird upper left chest pain while breathing heavily. This led me to going to my doctor and getting an EKG, originally this showed an arrythmia, but cardiology took a look at it and said there was nothing to be worried about and that no additional testing was necessary. During the period between the arrythmia on the EKG and cardiology telling me it was nothing, I became more hyperaware of my chest sensations (thinking it was my heart), and I started noticing that I'd often get discomfort in the upper ribs, in the mid/low ribs more towards the side, in my left armpit and even on the left side of the mid back. Usually this is all on the left, occasionally I'll get twinges of discomfort in the right upper ribs, but the left is the one that feels more "abnormal".
Now, this next pattern I recognized just a couple days ago is what made everything make sense as to my rib cage being an issue. I have no clue how long I've felt this, probably for a long time, but I tend to wake up with this weird deep sharp pain when trying to take a deep breath that's sometimes in the back (just below the ribs) or the front (also just below the ribs and through the obliques) on BOTH sides, it's VERY annoying, but usually it goes away within a few hours of being up. I always thought it may have been a bad mattress, or perhaps bad sleeping posture, but I recently came up with the idea of testing to see if sleeping strictly on the right side would yield any different result. Tried it last night, and this morning, I woke up and, lo and behold, I could take a deep breath just fine (I also think I may have woken up less throughout the night, but I've only done it once, so I have no clue yet). Last night I also figured out that laying on my back for half an hour caused the same pain (again, weirdly always on both sides, right below the ribcage when breathing deep). This is REALLY freaking me out. I've been scouring this sub and the costo sub for a while and I'm just so tired of this cycle of finding yet another condition where it's a "oh you feel bad? there's like 10 people in the country that know it exists", especially as a broke, uninsured, self employed 22 year old.
Everywhere I read, it seems like slipped rib is rather controversial when there isn't a reason to believe that SOMETHING caused the issue, whether hEDs, strong trauma to the ribcage, etc. So, I'm confused. I'm also naturally a bit skeptical about a lot of the doctors diagnosing and treating it, as I've yet to see more than 1-2 people express true relief after surgery, everyone else seems to be perpetually in a "yeah recovery is a rollercoaster" state just to come back and say that the doctor says that MORE ribs are the issue and they need another surgery, or the person alternatively is still posting about different issues with their ribcage or chronic pain.
So, this leaves me a bit stranded. I already have an appointment with my PCP, even though I know I'm just going to get blown off. I can't tell if it's costo or slipping rib, and I'm just really worried about it. What can I even do realistically? I did technically feel pain that isn't characteristic or slipped rib when going through my issue with left chest pain, but I also can't find anyone that also has this sleeping issue that I've had with sleeping on the back or left side. I'm scared and tired.

 | Here ya go - a DD that is not done by ChatGPT, hopefully not nauseatingly sales-y, and no regarded emojis or over the top use of "to the moon". No frills, just deep value. Overview: Earth observation data as a business has long struggled to be profitable. It requires significant CAPEX, is high risk (strapping a cam to a rocket essentially), and the R+D on a lot of the imaging can be pretty exorbitant. The main leaders in the space, Planet Labs and BlackSky, went public in the SPAC boom. They've generally underperformed the promises they presented in their first prospectuses. Planet Labs presented themselves as a "One to Many" data provider, and their main selling point was that earth data could be widely commercialized. While this is still fundamentally true, in the time since going public they have essentially become a government contractor (75% revenue from some form of government with only a quarter from general business use) (source: Q2 Investor Presentation). BlackSky on the other hand is 99% government revenue (source: November 2024 Investor Presentation). Revenue being sourced primarily from the government is two sides of the same coin and the value lies in the eye of the beholder: it's bad because they are too reliant on too few customers, or that government revenue is extremely sticky and actually a major growth driver under the right administration. I am of the latter opinion. I think we are at an inflection point that could cause these companies to become far more profitable than they are currently, which will cause their valuations to adjust higher (far higher than even their recent run-up). While the use cases for the data these companies accumulate are very broad, it has become evident in the last few years that the most profitable one is government use. My thesis lies in the following: 1) Donny and a Republican majority House/Senate will have a much larger Defense and Intelligence budget. They will be willing to pay a premium to obtain top tier defense and intelligence data from vendors like $PL and $BKSY. 2) Specific to $PL - NATO contract is highly promising (https://spacenews.com/planet-signs-deal-with-nato-to-supply-satellite-imagery/) and is a first of its kind deal. Follow-on mandates to come if $PL executes. 3) Specific to $BKSY - Concentrated solely in government contracts (this is not their biggest deal but a good example: https://www.blacksky.com/blacksky-wins-u-s-navy-research-contract-for-gen-3-advanced-optical-intersatellite-links/) - seem more focused on winning deals with American government - could stand to gain the most from new administration. 4) Specific to $PL - Launch of Tanager-1 (a first of its kind methane specific tracking satellite - highly valuable for int'l governments seeking to gather data on parties with the most harmful emissions) and subsequent release of data should bolster top-line (new sales team will hopefully execute). Pros and Cons of Each: $PL Pros - Larger cap, no debt, higher R+D costs (I view this as a plus long term - they understand that earth images can be commoditized and are spending heavily to develop a suite of analytics products which can materially enhance user experience - this will create competitive advantage long-term), recently trimmed workforce (leaner operating structure), largest and highest-quality satellite fleet (and it's not even close - actually a staggering difference), multiple partnerships with Google (Google owns ~12%) $PL Cons - Management seems to be less commercial (could lose contracts that they'd otherwise be able to fulfill to peers like $BKSY), operating costs (SG&A, R&D, etc.) as a % of revenue are higher than $BKSY $BKSY Pros - Entirely government contract focused, monster backlog of revenue (see NGL Luno A contract recently awarded), positive adj EBITDA (even though this is a fugazi number, they have been able to obtain it for several quarters unlike $PL), slightly better operating/cost structure $BKSY Cons - Smaller, carry more debt, smaller satellite constellation, image quality not as high as $PL, does not stand to benefit from tailwinds that are focused on carbon emission control like $PL does Position and Price Targets: $PL - 12/20 $5C $BKSY - waiting for good entry but eyeing 5/16/25 $17.5C. I am not going to try and tell you I know for sure which one is better - I am just going to try and bet both. I am likely going to keep rolling this over the coming months and add to it as the market allows it. Short term catalyst for $PL is 12/9 earnings. Hello 👋 I’ve been on Kesimpta for about a year now. Was diagnosed in Spring 2023.
I was wondering if anyone else has ongoing side effects from Kesimpta? I take my shot on a Friday and then I am kind of slow/out of it, extremely tired and have hot flashes all that weekend. It gets better by the same time the next week. From what I’ve read, everyone else seems to barely even notice taking their shot a year in.
