2024.11.30 16:19 Old_North8419 Do people believe at the so called “facts” presented to them at face value despite them being edited, twisted and sensationalized on all forms of media? (Mainsteam or Internet)
The problem with so called “factual information” is that it can often be edited, censored, twisted or sensationalized for views fitting a certain political narrative or ideology which is why people have skewed perceptions of what they consider fact turns out being completely fictional as they’re lied to. There's no point in formulating opinions or what you call "fact" since you are NEVER there so that becomes mere fiction.
It does not matter what source of media you read, hear or watch: there's lies in it subliminally - since all media are controlled by bigger entities who have their own agenda and perspectives. It's up to the individual to be smart enough to distinguish between what is completely false and first hand experience & eyewitness level true as seeing it with your own eyes (not common consensus verification).
Hyperbole is present in media, as they care about ratings more than being truthful on camera or social media, the only way to not fall into the their trap is to not believe a single thing they say, even if they presented “evidence” keep in mind that it is edited or altered and not the actual thing they’re showing since they can fabricate lies on top of that without you realizing it at first glance.
News is tricky since people need it to be informed but at the same time take all of it with a grain of salt since the “facts” you hear are edited and distorted for views, you don’t know anything at all unless you’re physically there and know first hand in person what they’re going though is actually like, otherwise never formulate any opinions that are mere assumptions and not actual facts that correlate to the story.
What media cannot reproduce is that the "smell" or "touch" & "vibe" of a story, as you were never there, for instance do you know what actual gunpowder smells like upon it being used in the frontlines where war correspondents are present? Do you know what the texture of blood feels like? Media has limited screen time while the real event in front of your eyes goes on continously as there's no pause button.
Any photographic or video "evidence" they show can easily be photoshopped or deep faked, NEVER take their word for it not believe anything from anyone at all until YOU SEE IT WITH YOUR OWN EYES to confirm, that is the only way you can make the one who speaks the loudest pretending to be truthful calling them a liar if you proved their "sources" are bogus as you roasted them for editing or altering it distorting the facts.
This can leave a biased view for some, for example you saw a recorded video about a school brawl that went viral online that caught news outlet's attention, but do you deem that video alone as definitive proof of what really happened? That is the tricky part to distinguish since people jump to conclusions without thinking twice, which leaves out a lot since you may never know if:
- The parties involved staged the whole thing for clout and attention
- The parties from both sides planned the whole thing prior to filming
- It was all an theatrical play or act not meant to be taken seriously
- Off camera, they mention specific details not shown or told on the news
News about such subjects are heavily exaggerated or sensationalized for ratings, plus they are limited on what they can show or say on the camera. Hypotheticals of imagining these scenarios does not work since you are never there, media can’t replicate the smell and atmosphere of what being a refugee or soldier is like since that is something you can only understand once you’re actually there stepping into their own shoes.
Education is skewed too just like the news, since the teacher or resource can edit, alter, sensationalize or twist the narrative they consider "factually true" adhering to their own liking. I.e. textbooks say that 6m Jews died but IGNORE that other groups were affected such as Roma, Gypsies, Homosexuals, Political Dissidents, as they ONLY SAY that Jews died in the camps but OVERLOOK OTHER VICTIMS which is very wrong and distorted.
NEVER believe what you hear or what you're taught at school, since it's akin to brainwashing (indirectly) as the syllabus in question is tailored to fit to their own agenda and narrative. History can be whitewashed by some people if it involves their country or themselves as the main antagonist in said event, you are never immune to propaganda in any fashion no matter how much you try to distance yourself from it.
For example, a historical text states that "we bought the land" while they OMIT the fact they killed the natives who lived there for millenia rewriting it as "we negotiated with the natives and bought the land" is what's told to the masses, a false historical narrative spreads around for generations while those who see beyond the lens are horrified to find out that what they are taught this whole time is a bunch of lies.
This is why people have flawed or skewed perspectives in key historical events, as how they were taught during their school years differs. For example, Western historians mention the atrocities Japan did in Unit 731 but Japanese textbooks and historians deny their involvement only acknowledging it's existence but not admitting that they are the perpetrators despite recorded evidence.
Some people have biases on every source they come across feeling conflicted on what and who to believe, despite the common "consensus of it being true and verified" stemming from the masses, it can still be distorted if you look further into the rabbit hole. Since the one who verified said info can twist or tweak the story for the sake of clout as the "hardcore truth" is too boring for them but that spreads lies.

 | So i’ve had the seestar for about a year right now and i was quite happy that it’s the time of the year again where i can capture the rosette nebula. This time with the mosaic mode to capture more of this object. Last night i came back from the movies and saw that it was a very clear night. Decided to put my seestar outside while i went to bed and let it run till the morning. It stood outside on a charger from 1 AM - 6 AM and this resulted in about 2 hours and 20 minutes of integration time. To my surprise the actual image output was very very poor. Can someone explain how my picture (see first picture) has barely got any nebula in it. While my picture from 1 year ago with only 6 minutes integration time (see 3rd picture) has a lot more details?
