2024.12.01 01:40 necrospeak Looking for resources to help a friend
A friend of mine who lives in Orange County is currently facing homelessness, and I’m desperately trying to find information or resources that might help her find some stability. I live in Texas, so that’s unfortunately easier said than done.
For further context, my friend and her mother have abruptly lost their primary source of income. My friend is chronically ill and can’t work. Even if she could, there’s no way she could find a job in time for it to make a difference.
So, my question is, has anyone else here been in a similar situation, or known someone who has? If so, were there any local resources that helped lessen the blow? Also, is there anywhere to rent in the OC that isn’t ungodly expensive? As of now, they live in Laguna Niguel, but I think relocation is an option.
I apologize if this post goes against any rules of this sub, I’m just desperate. Please let me know if there’s a more appropriate sub.

2024.12.01 01:40 rhuancunha My 2023 Model Y's range increased during winter—Is this normal?
Hi everyone,
I have a 2023 Model Y, and when I first got it, the estimated range at 100% charge was 418 km. Over time, it gradually dropped to around 400 km, which I assumed was due to natural battery degradation and usage.
But here's the strange part: as winter arrived, I noticed the range started increasing! First to 402 km, then 405 km, 406 km, and now it's showing 410 km at 100% charge. This caught me off guard because up until now, the range had only been decreasing.
Has anyone experienced something similar or knows why this might be happening? Could it be a software update or a change in how the range is calculated? I'm curious to understand what's going on.

May be a dumb question, but what do you all do to keep your face warm when sleeping while winter camping in the alpine? Obvious answer is to cover your face but a balaclava or face mask seem like they would gather condensation and get wet/cold.

I am a 67J and NG who just finished AMEDD BOLC at Sam Houston and will attend flight school next month. I will be doing a BOLC bypass. How does that work? Will I start with the 15As and do other training while they do their BOLC to keep us all on the same timeline, or will I get put ahead of the 15A class and actually go ahead of them? I'm hoping to save a little time since I'm already BOLC qualified.

From @mrechoangel, they have the small art cards of almost every bsd anime character, and Dazai, Chuuya, Sigma, and Nikolai (plus Ranpo and Poe) in A5 on their website for a limited time! As an aside it really was Ranpoe's day, because they not only got an A5 side-by-side display at this stall, but also a ship acrylic stand at another one (I can't remember the name unfortunately 😫). I am looking to buy a Rubicon since I moved to St George Utah. Used to own a 1970 CJ5 so it will not be my first Jeep. As I research the years available, it appears that the engine was upgraded in 2012 to the penstar motor so I narrowed down one after 2012, but then I read some articles saying “years to avoid” 2019, 18, 14, 13 and 12. Can someone explain why? If I go by this, I have 3 years to choose from. Here in Utah, there are a lot of jeeps, but a large amount of them are in those years not to buy. I would appreciate some reason for this so I don’t miss out on a good one. Also, is 120k considered a lot of miles? They should go 200k I would think. Thank you
