Hey, I'm just a 28 year old geeky guy looking for a good bond, much like everyone else. I enjoy playing games, occasionally watching anime, and listening to podcasts. Gaming is definitely my primary hobby. I don’t tend to play the popular stuff like Valorant, League, and Overwatch. I’m more into Valve games, indie titles, survival games, and older Nintendo releases.
I’m very much an indoor person, partly because gaming is what I enjoy and also because I'm unemployed. I’m out of work due to some social issues that make it difficult for me to be around others, especially those I don't know well. Despite this, I’d still love to find someone that i could really vibe with. I’ve struggled with loneliness for many years, and it’s really affected my mental health. I’m hoping to finally change that, and maybe even help someone else who’s going through similar struggles.
Something that’s really important to me, and what I need from the people close to me is a strong sense of social awareness. Empathy, compassion, and care mean a lot to me, and I’d like to know someone who values these qualities as much as I do. Considering people''s feelings, being selfless, and making sure everyone is happy is something I think is necessary for any relationship. Even platonic ones. I think my search for people with these values has been one of the main reasons behind my loneliness. It seems hard to find people who truly embody these traits, unfortunately.
Physically, I do carry a few extra pounds, but nothing crazy. I've been working on it.

Need a place to rant too who might understand me a little and give advice.
Got a flat on i45 off the expressway coming from College of the Mainland. Had issues jacking up my truck due some space constraints. A cop pulled up and while he was chill about it he gave my a time deadline to get a solution going. At that point I resorted to getting a tow from my insurance as my destination was under 10 miles away, I got that all situated but since insurance was taking its time on giving me an ETA for a free tow the officer called a tow himself and told me he has to get it gone and I'd be forced to pay the tow he called and get reimbursemed later. Come to find out the tow was pretty expensive since insurance only reimbursed about half of what the tow cost. I feel pretty scammed honestly, the cop knew I had a tow on the way but ultimately made me get towed by whoever he called and I got charged for it.
Are they allowed to do this? I still payed the tow guy, he was chill and man was just doing his job but the cop forcing a tow on me knowing I had one on the way? Is that allowed? Just seems kinda messed up. I was not in traffic I was in a medium (small triangle between the feeder and right lane on the freeway. I had caution lights on and was pretty safe. Also seemed like the cop was not stressed about it after he called his tow and then he was ready to tell me where I should have put the jackstand at for the truck at and give me advice. He also knew the tow guy by name and they seemed like friends. I'm not one to alligate people but I just want an opinion on if this ok, allowed and how I shoulda better went about this. I'm down money and don't really have a recourse.

2024.12.01 02:20 Mysterious_Emu5072 How did you know when to get nutritional support (feeding tube, etc.)? Pushback?
Hi all -
I have Gastroparesis and my weight is horrific right now, but I cannot gain any weight despite any efforts.
I am about 5'3" and if I weigh 80 pounds, that would be on my best day (but I deal with severe constipation, intestinal dysmotility, so I'm sure some of that isn't even 'real' weight). I know this is awful. I struggle to eat because of nausea, but I won't take anti-nausea meds because they cause constipation. Last time I took zofran, I ended up with a blockage.
My diet is very limited to pretty much things that are pre-packaged - no fruits, veggies at all, barely any meat, I limit fats because those trigger my symptoms, and I do not consume fiber (most would be under 5 grams per day). I can tolerate carbs, and anything that sugar-y fine, but this isn't sustainable. I do not consume any water orally - only mostly soda (coke & ginger ale) and sometimes gatorade.
I have brought this to the attention of my care team time & time again. I see a regular GI doctor, a motility specialist, nutritionist, and my hematologist manages my weekly IV fluids that I go into his clinic for. I first asked my Hematologist about getting a port-a-cath placed because my vein (only one on one arm is useful) is taking a hit. He said sure, but he wanted clearance from GI. So, I asked my motility doctor & her response was insane. She said, "Well, I was hoping this was going to be temporary and we need to maintain the integrity of your intestines" - not sure what she was thinking was going to be 'temporary'? Gastroparesis, EDS, intestinal dymotility are all permanent conditions. Regardless, I am suffering. My electrolytes are out of whack, hematology keeps treating them and then they fall again.
My primary GI doctor asked me when I wanted to get a feeding tube placed, but motility pushed back and said we need to determine if my motility is throughout my entire intestinal tract (I thought we already determined this..), just my small bowel, or just my colon because that would change things. She never went into detail.-I'm a grown adult, and I need her to. I don't want to be rude to her, but I've been messaging her, and she's not budging.
Has anyone else experienced this? Did you have to ASK for a feeding tube?? I don't want something dangerous to happen to me, but don't know what else to do. Motility doctors are not easy to just get in to see a different one, so I cannot just call up another hospital and walk in to see a new one quickly.

My husband's family lives 4 hours away and when they visit for holidays they usually stay in our house for extended weekends. We have a 4-year-old daughter who is the first and only grandbaby in the family. Let me introduce you to my in-laws:
FIL has out a laptop AND his phone to watch sports games on because 5 minutes of interaction with anyone other than himself for the day seems to be his maximum. He makes constant comments about everyone else being "too uptight" because his own "laid back" lifestyle always comes at the expense of others, i.e. calling to inform us at the last minute that they're arriving hours earlier than expected.
MIL never stops talking and usually seems like she's on an entirely different planet as she floats through existence. Her husband is not nice to her - ever - and she doesn't seem to notice or care. She lacks spatial awareness, social cues, you name it. She arrives and her shit is everywhere all over the house, she's cluelessly un-parenting everything I've ever told my daughter, I'm honestly amazed that she hasn't accidentally ruined Santa because she's that much of an airhead.
BIL has zero idea what kids do but from his experience with Thing 1 and Thing 2 for parents he thinks we just let them do whatever they want and thinks I am super controlling. He was playing with daughter while I was tidying up and I returned to find her coloring on the carpet with marker. He was watching and letting her do it and laughing. MIL was in there watching too.
They all loudly burp without ever excusing themselves and don't push their chairs in at the table after getting up from a meal.
They have started bringing their own food because we don't stash enough junk food and snacks for their liking even when we load up in preparation for their visits and they all snack right up until meal times even when we're preparing fancy meals or going out to eat.
One fun memory: daughter running and playing in front of FIL with a runny nose, tissue box literally next to him, everyone else is in another room, he yells to us that someone has to come wipe her.
Am I insane? Is this normal or are these people rude as hell?

I’ve identified a few industries that could benefit from my services. For example, companies implementing IoT devices often need help retrieving and analyzing data. I’m considering reaching out to account executives (salespeople) at these companies to see if they’d be open to recommending me to their customers. This could be a mutually beneficial situation since, if their customers find my services valuable, it strengthens the account executives’ relationships with their clients and makes it easier for them to sell. A warm introduction like this would also be more effective than a cold outreach.

Was having a discussion with a group of people about tariffs and who actually pays them.
Lets say a good is $100 and being imported into USA from Mexico with a 30% Tariff, there was a difference of opinions
A: The company selling into USA now sells it to the supplier for $130, with the $30 (the 30% tariff) being paid by the Mexican supplier to the USA Govt, effectively being 'paid' by the foreign company.
B: The company selling into USA continues to sell it at $100, but the USA supplier adds on a 30% tariff (since it is a Mexican good) and sells it to the consumer for $130, meaning the tariff has been wholly paid by the USA.
In both options the price goes up by 30% for the consumer but I'm curious which one it is and who effectively 'pays' the tariff (of course the consumer does, but before that).

Hey, so back in 2021, I got a butterfly tattoo on my arm from a friend who was just starting out. Some of the tattoos she’d done on herself looked decent, and I was young and didn’t really know any better. She tattooed my bicep, and honestly, I hated it the moment I walked out of the shop. It started looking weird almost immediately, and a few days later, it bled a lot and left me with horrible scarring and a green shadow around the tattoo area
To fix it, I tried a “cover-up” where another friend added some details to make it more appealing. It was better, but I still didn’t love it. Eventually, I went for a real cover-up: a big, heavy matryoshka-style design. I liked it for about a month, but now I can’t stand how it sits on my arm—it just doesn’t look right on my smaller frame. To make things worse, this last cover-up left me with even more scarring, which is super frustrating.
Now I’m trying to figure out if full removal is possible, or if I could lighten it enough to do another cover-up that I might actually like. The shape of it is the main thing that bothers me. I’d really appreciate any advice or opinions on what my options might be!
