2024.12.01 04:50 UnCytely What is going on with Lego Power Functions?
A few years ago, I went through a brief period of unemployment, and bought a Lego Mindstorms and a couple of Lego Power Functions kits. I have not touched this stuff in a while, because I have been working 60-hour weeks for a while. I have had dreams of making something like Lego 42009 (or something similar, like the dump truck) and controlling it with the Mindstorms controller.
I have done some checking on the state of advanced Lego, and I noticed that Power Functions has been replaced by something called "Power Up". With let another type of connector??? That makes three: Mindstorms, Power Functions, and Power Up. Why couldn't Lego pick a connector and stick with it? The way I see it, the Mindstorms connector should have worked great with their Power Up motors, with the built-in sensors. Anyway, is there ANY way to use the Power Up motors with a the Mindstorms controller brick?

 | Where the terracotta and tin roof is coming together (pic 1) there is a water leak in the house coming through the crack (pic 2). The crack has been there for a while but we only saw a leak today with the heavy rain. There looks to be water pooling and dirt underneath the rusty capping (Pic 3). Pic 4 is when I lifted up the cap and scooped out the dirt. Also inside the house see there is bit of dirt coming through the roof join too (pic 5). I'm not sure firstly how dirt is accumulating under the join capping and where the water is entering from. Hello everyone. I’m a first time home owner seeking some insight. I purchase this newly built home a little over one year ago. Just about a few hours ago I began to notice this! I’m located in Florida and it is currently cold but very humid. I will contact the company who built the home tomorrow but I’m wondering, is this something that might be a major repair ? I 36/F and husband 34/M have been together for 9 years married for 4. Husband has recently confessed that he has a huge gambling problem. There’s this whole new side of him that has come with his confession of gambling, the only real reason he has told me is because he needed me to step up with money to make several missed mortgage payments. He has now turned and is showing a lot of narcissistic traits. He says that he preferred it when I wasn’t aware of his addiction and is holding that against me, just because I know. He has said some not very nice things to me since finding out and refuses to get help or see that he has an issue and is deflecting the blame onto me. I’m 36 years old, we had been planning to start a family and now the future is very daunting to me as it looks like I need to start over again. Any one been in this situation and can provide me with some advice?

Hi,
I (16M) have been strongly considering getting my own dog for years (but basically my whole life). I have decided that if I were to do so, it would work out best for me to get a puppy right around my 17th birthday in April. This is because I will be coming up on the end of the school year, snowy season will have just ended, and it would also be just before spring break. Then, if I go to college, the dog would be over a year and a half old and well trained by then.
We have two family dogs, and I have a lot of experience with pets (guinea pigs, rats, mice, fish, cats, you name it). I have spoken with my parents about this a million times before, and they have no doubts in my capability to take care of a dog, their only worry is what time I may be spending in class for college, and they worry about a dog getting in the way of going out with friends (but I rarely ever do that and I hate parties and drunk people makes me scared).
Now, there is a strong chance that I will be going to art school, meaning (if I get into the one I want to) I will not really have studying/homework to do, just art to make, so I think I would be able to dedicate time to my dog.
The next point is, I am autistic and my main struggle is sensory processing, and I have found that when I can play with my dogs fur or have them on top of me it helps a lot in calming down, so I think that having a dog could be beneficial for me too in that way. I have considered trying to train the dog as a service dog, but I do understand that there is a chance the training won’t go right for that. However, ideally, having the dog trained for service dog work would be the best case scenario.
Branching off of that bit about autism, my special interest is animals so my life kind of revolves around animals/my pets, so I think it would even be hard for me to go to college and not have a dog with me.
I am working on the financial aspects, trying to find a job, and will not be getting a dog until I have $500 for initial expenses, plus a good portion of my goal of $1,000 for yearly expenses, and some in an emergency fund which I would hope to save up to $5,000 in.
I have been working on this plan for a while now, but if you guys could point out any issues with it so I can try to fill in the gaps before I officially present this to my parents, I would appreciate it a lot.
