 | hi! deathly afraid of cockroaches. (especially german) but i’ve never seen one irl. my cat found one the other day and ate it. another day one (i think) flew in from a vent. AND NOW i see one in the bedroom and my cats were playing with it. i’ve also seen these flying around on our balcony at night. my partner also saw one on our trash can that we have to leave outside for pickup daily and he said it flew on the wall. i know they say german roaches don’t fly so is it possibly an asian cockroach? any thoughts? I was sleeping and suddenly woke up to a black figure leaning over them ? I was 22 and pregnant in a deep sleep and suddenly woke up to a black figure leaning over me on the side of the bed watching me sleep. Once it seen me looking at it, it left my room and I chased after it thinking it was someone in my house, but it was gone so fast! I wasn't scared of it tho. Just wondering if someone's had a similar experience and if they know what it is? Just always been curious as it was the first and only time I've ever seen something like that.

This article is an embarrassment. From the click-bait title ('absurdly generous'? Really?) to the one sided 'analysis' that reads more like a plantiff's motion than a sound analysis, cherry picked context-free sprinkles of data, to specious claims pretending to be supporting facts (VA benefits have tripled since 2001? I WONDER WHY?) this reads like a term paper from a Stanford J-School student's persuasive writing course. The fact that the Economist, a magazine that has advocated for Hundreds of Billions of dollars in funding for Ukraine is somehow also in favor of cutting VA benefits is nauseating.
and politics and ideology and analysis aside, you submitted an article with the single biggest omission I've ever seen in a column from the Economist.
How did this get past your Standards and Practices department? A ten minute fact check on Google shreds this article like wet tissue paper.
Firstly, this language is better suited for an op-ed article. Statements like 'Absurdly generous' and 'enormous rise' should not be here. The facts and analysis should speak for themselves.
Elon Musk has not been hired for anything. His meme-coin advisory group does not exist because trump is not president.
You failed to mention that the tripling of VA expenditures over the last two decades coincided with the WAR ON TERROR AND TWO MAJOR WARS. I realize this fact is inconvenient but avoiding it makes you lose all credibility.
It also appears that the increase is roughly equivalent to the increase in the U.S. military spending. Comparing it to the funding of the Department of Transportation is laughable.
Your snide insinuation that the increase in VA claims is because of false claims of 'sleep apnea' did not go unnoticed.
And if Mr. Duggan of Stanford University is a Subject Matter Expert, please do both him and us the courtesy of stating why. Being 'of Stanford University' is not a qualification for anything.
And again you mentioned that 1 in 5 new recepients left the workforce when getting compensation after 2001. I WONDER IF THERE'S A REASON THE YEAR 2001 KEEP COMING UP IN YOUR ARTICLE. DID SOMETHING RELATED TO THE MILITARY CHANGE AFTET 2001?
And even after all that this contains, all the cherry picked stats and examples, the specious arguments, and the rhetorical slight of hand, you fail to fulfill the one single purpose of this entire article.
You never even say how many dollars you think could be saved by cutting veterans benefits.
You forgot to put the answer on the paper before you submitted your essay.
This paper is a disaster. I'm glad I'm letting my subscription expire.

Long story short, I ordered lot of collectible toys and multiple of them arrived damaged (listed as “played but great shape”), I suspended order and contacted the lady. She’s super sweet and helpful, apologized and asked me what I think the price is and we agreed she will pay me the price difference. I plan to click “cancel and keep order” after I receive the money, but will this mark me as a bad buyer?

I have a Venu 2. Have had since the summer, bought used, so don't know how old it is. It worked amazingly well. I never had an issue with it.
The screen will not turn on. I have ran the factory reset and so far no luck.
I hold the top button until it shakes three times, then press once to turn on (one second). And it doesn't seem to work. The phone seems to be syncing so I'm not sure what to do.
Any suggestions?

I have 2019 BMW X5 40i which has done 82k km. The car is well maintained and serviced by BmW dealer under service contract.
Of late I have noticed that at times the car feels heavy to drive. When i accelerate - its doesn’t feel very smooth. But some days it’s absolutely smooth and I feel no vibration through the accelerator or anything. It’s super light on the accelerator and runs awesome. But then other time it feels heavy and I’m not sure if I can call it sluggish or not as when I floor it picks up nicely but does feel coarse.
When I had taken it for service a month back and told them about this - they said nothing is wrong and everything seems fine.
Can anyone shed light on what could be the issue?

If Russia was willing to go to war with Ukraine which has 1/3 the population of Russia in order to stop NATO from taking over Ukraine, do you think they will not do the same with your country with 1/50 the population? Love Georgia more than you hate Russia. Love your family more than you hate Russia. Yooooo what’s up. I’m from Chicago, but living in Florida since I was 17. I used to work at Nike and a skate shop. Now I have a career that I had to do tons of training for. I only work Tuesday nights. Hoping to go full time working Friday-Tuesday in a couple of years.
Im into snapbacks, tattoos, tank tops, and video games. I mostly only wear tank tops paired with a snapback. I have a handful of tattoo located on the chest, arms, and thigh. Don’t ask about them, or ask about my favorite ones, I hate those generic questions. I will say the chest one got misalign because I had some enhancement done to my chest if you understand what I’m saying. My favorite color is black. Purple is cool too and I actually have purple/ lavender hair.
I play a bit of video games. I’m into the Alan Wake universe. I enjoy horror. Made my first big purchase (besides the chest mod) a year ago, got myself a Mercedes. I still like to skate to get around the city though. I’m 5’6ft with a repaired acl and mcl. Fully repaired a month ago. It took me out for like 11 months.
Who’s going to be able to hit me back with everything I shared though. I’m a night owl. I’m pretty bored. It’s Sunday as well so it’ll be extra boring. What’s something fun we can do? Maybe a no holds barred question and comment game. I’ll ask questions about myself, mainly how I dress and look, and I get it answered elaborately. So a writing game. Not for the weak. If anyone wants to do it, that’s around my age, hit me up and let’s spend the night.
