So, one of my friends is getting into EDH, and they just shared a decklist with me that he wants to order, and... this is the worst list I have ever seen.
Like, 27 lands with an average cmc above 3. It's a kindred deck with a 28 [[Slime Against Humanity]], but the kind isn't Ooze. There's 20 cards dedicated to a completely different strategy. There's an infinite in there, and none of the pieces are good in the deck individually, and it doesn't win on the spot. Neither of the pieces are even on kind.
I wanna be nice and supportive of their interest, but I really don't think this deck is salvageable, and it's about four hundred dollars. It does contain powerful cards that would go well in other decks, but I don't want my friend to spend four hundred dollars on a non-functional deck.
I would like to be able to talk to them about the deck, but I don't want to seem like I'm just dunking on a new player's honest first attempt. Any advice for this kind of thing?

We're all one community to support each other and our oshis, but being snarky ad irritable to others doesn't help at all. It only divides us even more.
I apologize if I seem like my thoughts keep repeating, I wrote this before I went to bed
- One of the big topics I've seen from the recent posts is about streaming and how Cover is toning down the amount of streaming that is happening for idol things to occur first. However, Cover is a tech business making/using AVR technologies eventually using these to implement them into Vtubers. Cover isn't a streaming company, but more of an idol company no? Yagoo in an interview in 2020 had also said that Hololive "runs a similar group to AKB48 (a well-known Japanese idol group)". I feel like due to the pandemic, streaming bloomed for Cover allowng the talents to stream however they please to interact with their audiences because there was only so much they could do together like concerts. With that many people stuck at home watching the streams, it seems like the idea of Cover making streaming their first and foremost priority was blurred. Although the goals could have changed over the years, but it felt like the core structure to Cover was using AVR technology for their talents to become idols while streaming was an activity they could do on their free time engaging with the audiences.
- Briefly mentioned in my 1st point, but Cover is a business. They will have investors and they will most likely want to profit and expand their company worldwide doing business with local and larger companies such as the recent Botan ramen collab to the LA dodgers and Round1 collab. People will come and go due to varied interests in the company, but it's not like Cover is firing the talents (unless breaking an NDA or something secretive) due to their incompetencies. I'm sure many of our oshis had an excellent time through the years they've had, but ultmately, their goals do not align with Cover's.
- As a fan, I also want to hear what Cover has to say about the recent graduations. There's definitely some problems Cover has and it seems to be more prominent as more talents have left the past couple months, Perhaps, Cover is making their goal of being an idol company more pronounced by having the talents do more idol things such as traveling, dance/singing lessons, public collaborations, engaging with audience members and some of these members don't feel like their goals align with Cover's as it means less streaming, more work to be done as an idol, and eventually burnout. Could also be just shit middle managers not taking more care of the talents and asking them to do many misc tasks.
- Another topic I'm interested in from Cover in the future is to make a new subgroup only focused on streaming so if a talent feels like being an idol isn't for them anymore, then they can still stream and perhaps be guests in a concert if they choose so. Isn't that what DEV_IS supposed to be? A subgroup for those particularly interested in singing?
- Lastly, I hope everyone takes care of themselves and we can have a civil conversation.
