Tonight I was feeding Margaret, and my current way of feeding is to place food in front of her as she prefers her food moving freely. I released four dubia roaches; the first one was immediately eaten, second seemed to get eaten in her hide, and the last two were put in together and I saw at least one alive. I haven't seen anything explicitly saying that having food running around unsupervised is bad, but I'm concerned that there could be some risks that I'm unaware of. I know that catching prey can be enrichment for leos, so hopefully there isn't a downside. There's no concern over loosing track of the roach numbers at the very least, as there are only three at most, non of the roaches Ive had for the last month have bred, and I'm planning on checking the terrarium soon to make sure they've been eaten.
Before anyone says anything about food bowls, I do have one but I've never seen her successful eat from it (she tried once, and I couldn't see if she caught her food or not). I'm considering buying a different one that is longer and shallower, so she can see food moving inside it and know that it's food.
