What Would Be The “Perfect” Gacha System In Your Opinion?

With the gacha for Arknights Endfield being revealed and a bit….questionable with the not carrying over part, the always loved lol Genshin system not getting any better and the WuWa system actually being pretty good, lets talk about what would make the “perfect” gacha system.
The perfect system has to find that sweet spot where it’s still a gamble of course but it can’t be too punishing. I’ve always felt like what makes a good gacha system is one that rewards just enough to keep the players consistently happy. I’m also not a fan of 50/50 at all, I think there should be an X spent guarantee.
A “perfect” gacha system also can’t just give away characters and weapons too easily, however, if all it does is piss players off all the time that gambling, Vegas thrill of pulling is gone.
We play games to enjoy them and the thrill of finally getting the new highest rated characteweapon, or even better getting it early is one of the biggest draws of gacha games. That thrill is gone if the system is too strict or too easy.
“Predatory” systems are the outright wort since players are already either grinding, spending or both and they can still get F’d over very frequently.
So, let’s hear it, IYO what would be the “Perfect” gacha system?

2025.01.18 02:10 wakkacheatsonhiswife Am i the only one worried about how the coloring of the new map looks?
I know its early, but from the picture(s) we've seen so far, the color palette looks exactly the same as CDM. If that's really the case, thats pretty worrisome. It was pretty cool in CDM but getting that same yellowish color and desert-y setting again would be horrible. But so far thats what it looks like, i really hope im wrong. I want every map to be completely unique, but the pictures of The Tomb (im especially talking about the colored one) literally look like an expansion of CDM, They should've made it nighttime or something atleast. Am i the only one worried about this?
I know the excavation site is supposed to be close to the castle in lore, but that shouldnt be an obstacle to make the maps color palette and visual design/atmosphere different. If it is, then making the excavation site close to CDM was bad idea.
And im not gonna cope the same way we did with the first gameplay footage of Liberty Falls (oh maybe its because easter eggs are off and when you do a step in the easter egg the map turns night or colorful and this and that blah blah blah), if this is what it looks like, its probably what it is. i really hope im wrong.

2025.01.18 02:10 Nighthood28 Thoughts on kingsroad beta (spoilers extended)
Idk how much if any real intrest members of this group may have in this game, but figured this wouldnt be the worst place to post some initial thoughts on this game. Not gonna go crazy, and honestly not sure if im even supposed to share thoughts on it in general. If not, ill remove. Ill go over some basic categories though. Only put in a couple hours so far on pc with an xbox controller
Lore: from what ive seen in this beta, its not lore friendly to the books or the show. I dont want to dive too deep into this, but in broad strokes, they have no business engaging with the white walkers this early in the story, bastards should not take claim to their houses, and various little and big things irk me, and would all of you in sure (such as direwolves south of the wall as enemies)
Graphics and animations: actually pretty decent for what it is. The environment actually seems decently crafted. Could definitely improve in the pop in, and i have no reason to believe that wont be improved upon by release. The animations are nice and seem pretty fluid. Though none named characters seemed pretty interchangeable, and over all character design seems pretty at home for 2014.
Character creation: its about as deep as the sims with less clothing, body type, and hair options. Still, was pleasantly suprised by the amount of options and ability to pick genders (basic by video game standards, but again softly lore breaking by asoiaf standards leading me to think it wouldnt be the case)
Combat: i have complicated feelings on this. Its not horrible, but could vastly improve. Again, the animations arnt bad, but the combat doesnt feel like it knows what it wants to be. You have some batman arkham vibes, some dragons age veilguard vibes, and some elder scrolls online vibes, or even swtor. Its a mixed bag. Enemy AI needs vast improvement. And button layout was frustrating (more in the next section)
Controller support: this is the most frustrating aspect by far, and what flat out pisses me off. Controller support is abysmal. Mind you, its a beta, and how many people are gonna be doing a beta with a controller? But by the old gods and new they can not allow this to be how it is at launch. Like i said in combat, it has some arkham vibes with combat, but the buttons are all switched around. And god forbid you keybind to change that (broke everything). Then all the short cut combos for maneuvering inventory, "scanning", and using any kind of quick item just didnt work 90% of the time. Manuvering menus (which there are alot of, and more to come) doesnt work with the controller either. So i had to keep my mouse on hand anyways. This is by far my largest complaint. The moment to moment combat gameplay didnt feel bad, once you get over the foreign button layout for this type of game, but still it would be better if the controller actually had full functionality, and keybinds didnt break everything.
Stealth: because ofcourse this has forced stealth sections. Did you think it wouldnt? But i dont mind, i like stealth in most games. That said, with the enemy ai not working well, i could fumble an assassination attempt due to the janky controls with another enemy 10 few away staring at me with no consequences. But also trying to sneak up in someone could do the opposite and set the whole camp on you before your even 5 feet away from your targets back. Needs a good overhaul. Reminds me of assassins creed 3 tbh. Except the ai in as3 was better.
UI: feels like it was designed for an mmo. And maybe this is an mmo, im not sure. I didnt see any other players. Honestly i dont care for mmos. Lots of menus, over saturation of commands needed to be crammed into a controller layout which im sure is directly responsible for some of the issues i had, and clear signs that they want you to interact with other people. I mean, i play single player games for a reason. But thats not the point of this section. The UI feels like it would be at home in swtor. I dont really have any constructive criticism or praise on it. Just entirely mundane.
Performance: the performance was pretty solid. 60 fps, settings turned all the way up, dlss and fsr 2 and 3 support which is a nice touch. Though i dont understand why the system requirements are so high, and leads me to believe its just unoptimimized. Like for real the system requirements are almost exactly my specific set up. Rtx2070 super, amd ryzen 5 5500, 8 gb ram (i got 16 there but whatever). Definitely dealt with pop in, but the frame rates were stable. Optimization should definitely be worked on because i see no reason why you would need all that for this game. Figure a gtx 960 or higher would do the trick. I mean its gonna run on phones too sooo, just saying.
Tldr: over all i feel like this game started as something different and was forced to pivot. Potentially for monetization. That is speculation ofcourse. There is alot of potential here for single player experience, and im sure some of my gripes will be completely fixed before anyone even knows they existed. They clearly have some talent working on this. All i have to say is, i hope they adjust a few simple things to be more inline with industry expectations. And i really really wish they cared more about the lore. On a strictly lore standpoint, no way george approved of this like he did the 2012 cyanide game. But on a purely game play level, this is a vast improvement on the 2012 cyanide game. So its a mixed bag.
