Woke up this morning to a message that my grandpa passed away. Just received a call that my coworkers partner passed away in an accident today. My boss went through two deaths in the last week, my other coworker one. We lost a client to suicide last week as well.

2025.01.18 05:41 7epiphanies range on vw jetta keeps increasing
this bit in my car is supposed to show much farther the car can go with the current amount of fuel, it increases when i fill my tank normally.
it was 450km when i started my car up and i drove for like 1.5 hours, it's now increased to 530km. could something be leaking into the fuel tank?

Someone I trained is making up new roles for himself and management seems to be very open to him setting his own responsibilities. These revolve around control of an area I’ve worked in and helped grow for years prior to them. I was senior staff for my specialty when he came aboard and he’s outpaced me simply by befriending management. Nothing is official, no title change but it’s a slow incremental sort of thing that should any opportunity for growth rise the fairness is getting out of balance. I have brought up a number of improvement points and ideas looking for permission over the years. Was called negative by manager a few times during these so was discouraged from making suggestions. I Adapted. Did a few initiatives and got pretty much radio silence from managers for even successful ones. This dude and I used to be decent friends and that all shifted when I missed a party he had when I had some personal shit to deal with day of. I came in apologized that I missed it and was met cold affection and blown off a few times. We get pretty siloed so couple weeks later when I began to realize things were still off I asked if he was mad about something. He replied flatly nothing was wrong. Just iced. Would not directly engage even in group settings when I’d say something which made me uncomfortable. Would address the room friendly and exclude me manager sitting right there. So I kinda got boxed out and since it was uncomfortable and everyone seemed to be aware of the riff it was really tough isolating pill to swallow. I started just minding my own business. That time I spent more removed was used to gossip on what was wrong with me or otherwise talking shit and controlling a narrative to the manager who was becoming more buddy buddy. Time I didn’t have because I was working while he was finding ways not to. Confirmed through another team member whos tighter with him they all were wondering what was up with me ‘even the manager’ - I asked why would manager be? Generally worked with him the same just not in audience of the dude. Dudes coworker homie said because we’ve been telling him you’ve been off. So basically was being ostracized by this dude and his group and then the downstream affects were narrative control. To this day I don’t even understand what the f happened but was pretty offended by the unprofessionalism by the ice out. That I had working relationship with a few of these people in the group and they seemed to be neutrally allowing this bs. It was so f’ing embarrassing. Having attempted broaching it multiple times I gave up. Didn’t want to talk with manager because i was sure that wouldn’t be a good look. Now this person has come up with all these miraculous ideas. Some I’ve said we should implement looking for a green light. My manager- if he hadn’t said I was being negative -would just say what resources would that require or some nonsensical aphorism that just was unsupportive and non committal. Now green lighting whatever to this dude who has been caught fraudulently stealing hours. I’m not saying I’m flawless but the shit is stacked and I can’t even stand working as an equal let alone watch these slimeball fingers on more control and influence in the area I helped build and dealt with manager bullying. I don’t hate this dude, but ostracizing me severely negatively impacted my ability at influence. I let it to a degree I know. But I don’t respect him and it peels the mask off the hard work pays off of the management that this dude is getting ahead. I work in a field that has no real way to get out of with out stepping way back down. Moving jobs would ultimately result in less pay and likely night shift requirements. Fuck work politics.

2025.01.18 05:41 True-Swimmer-6505 Recruiting has become a hellish nightmare for my industry (real estate). The quality of applicants has diminished. Job board pricing has skyrocketed. Also, out of hundreds of applicants, barely any of the applicants respond.
I see all these posts on here about how hard it is to find a job right now.
I've owned a small real estate brokerage for about 19 years and interview and hire all new real estate agents myself. Each year I have to hire 2-3 new real estate agents, because approximately 2-3 real estate agents quit each year, get poached or go cold.
The quality of the applicants has diminished over time. Lately, I'm seeing ALL CAPS TYPING often, resumes with nothing on them, screener questions answered with "ok".
I respond to applicants, and about 90% of them never respond to me after they applied. My guess is that they are just applying for everything, or maybe even using some software to auto-apply. Either way, it's very weird.
The real estate industry is tougher lately because inventory is low, technology has changes, rules have changes.
It used to be easy for me to find 2-3 agents each year, now it's like pulling teeth.
Also, job board prices have skyrocketed. Companies like Indeed and LinkedIn have moved to a pay-per-click model (whereas in the past it was pay per job post). Now, I have to compete with large corporations to get my ads even shown and it's a fortune.
The job market might be tough, but I can assure you that recruiting has become a nightmare the past few years, at least in my industry and my experience.

I know this is probably a stupid question as the result of even a minimal nuclear exchange would be hellish, but I'm curious about the cleanup process of tactical nuclear weapons. For example, if a Davy Crockett was fired in battle and for whatever reason did not explode, what would happen? It seems like the remaining material from a dud tactical warhead would be both incredibly valuable and dangerous. Someone somewhere at the Pentagon must have been tasked with explaining how the cleanup process would work, right? TIA!

I'm at (what I think is) the end of the Into The Mountain quest, where I have to ride my Ikran through Rasi's memories, and I can't do anything.
If I try to steer my Ikran up or down, the camera locks. If I pitch up, I'm looking up at the top of my Ikran and I can't move down; likewise, if I pitch down, then I'm looking at the bottom of my Ikran and I can't move up. I can move left/right, strafe, do barrel rolls -- but I can't move up or down, which is necessary to follow the path for the quest.
I'm totally locked. The start of this sequence is where my game loads in. Tried reloading save, reloading game, restarting PS5 -- nothing. Right now I'm trying literally nothing -- just hands-off, letting my Ikran fly, and still nothing.

I posted my husband and my looks from my brother's wedding yesterday and a lot of you were really quick to judge that I was trying to upstage the bride or that the pics are AI or stolen. So I m posting the family pics from my brother's wedding so that you can see for yourself that all of your judging is absolutely untrue. My bhabhi and bhai were looking stunning and no one had to ask who is the bride or groom. I understand that every family can be different but in ours we like to dress up for the occasion. When I got married I asked my extended family to literally wear their wedding dresses again if they want because I knew that they must not have able to wear it again since their weddings. Similarly my brother encouraged us to be dressed up for his special day. So may be we are not the typical dramatic family that you wanted us to be. And specifically for the one user who commented about my husband wearing a pagdi, literally every male member of both the bride and the grooms side wears a pagdi on the wedding day and it is absolutely different than that of the groom which is more elaborate and has a kalgi.
