DORA (not the explorer) aka Digital Operational Resilience Act is live on EU and as an Europoor, I don't like it at all (like many of their regulations) . As always, they make it sound like it's a good thing to protrect us yada yada (protect from hacks and IT failures). Sounds great huh? They really care about us /s
First off, the requirements are complex as with anything EU related. Companies now have to keep detailed records of EVERY contract they have with IT companies plus create strict cybersecurity and risk management policies.
Big companies will probably be fine but smaller ones (start ups) due having low budgets and staff will have a hard time. How are they supposed to meet these new standards without completely draining their resources? Most likely they won't. Are we basically heading toward a consolidation of the industry where only the giants survive?
But DORA doesn’t just affect virtual asset service providers (VASPs), it also hits crypto issuers like Circle (USDC).
I get the idea of better security/stability all to protect customers but are we sacrificing innovation and competition for it?
What do you think? Is this really the best approach, are they really worried about security or it's all or it about control?

I’ve been writing about pitch accent lately and wanted to hear from you all—how do you learn and practice it? I often find that my students know a lot more about study resources than I do, so I was curious to ask you all.
One thing I’ve been curious about is finding text resources that explain how pitch shifts across conjugations. For example, how a verb like かく (to write) changes pitch when conjugated to かかない, かいた, かける, かかれる, etc.
Another example:
読む (to read) changes to 読んで (よんで), and
呼ぶ (to call) changes to 呼んで (よんで).
Even in sentences like おわったらよんでください, the meaning depends entirely on the pitch accent—and they have different pitch accents! It could mean:
"Please read it when you're done," (終わったら読んでください) or
"Please let me know when you're done." (終わったら呼んでください)
I haven’t found any materials that clearly break down how these pitch shifts happen in different forms. Does anyone know if there are any textbooks or guides that cover this?
I’ve been working on my second textbook, Japanese For Dogs 2, which focuses on the plain form and explores pitch accent shifts in different verb conjugations. I've worked in gas stations for over a decade now and I've seen every shade of rude asshole you can think of. From the entitled douches who think their phone call is so much more important than telling me which pump they're on, to my absolute least favorite, the big ballers who walk up to the counter and throw the money on the counter like they're high rollers in a casino. You name it, I've seen it, and throughout all my years of putting up with this, I can never figure out why it is people are like this.
If you see your cashiers hand stretched out, PUT THE FUCKING MONEY IN THEIR HAND! You're not Mr. Bigshot cool McGee who's so much higher than the cashier because you're on the other side of the counter, you're buying a pack of Marlboros and a 3 dollar scratcher at 7 in the morning.
If you ask the cashier a question, like "why is my vard declining" or "How much does this cost", for the love of God, DON'T CUT THEM OFF WHEN THEY'RE TRYING TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION! I can't count how many times I've had people ask me questions only to cut me off when I try to answer them cause they think they need to over explain themselves. Why ask the question if you won't let me answer you?
And the cherry on top, the cream of the crop, the crown jewel of my irritation and what made me want to make this post. Get off your fucking phone when you're being rung up. If you come up to the counter while talking on the phone and whisper to me but continue your conversation at full volume, I fucking hate you. No hyperbole, not a joke, in all seriousness and with my full fucking chest, I hate your guts.
If any of you do stuff like this and explain to me why you're willingly choosing to be a rude asshole to people who are just trying to do their jobs, PLEASE enlighten me. Thank you for reading my ramblings.

2025.01.18 06:45 a-nnon Where is my cmos battery located?

Hello so I recently updated to windows 11(all late I know 😅) once I updated it I tried to launch valorant but the secure boot error kept popping up. I watched a video on how to fix it, which was going into the BIOS and enabled the secure boot. When I attempted to enabled the boot, it said that I could because of the key PK. So then I did that too and then I was able to enable the boot. I then save and exit and once my PC turned back on my 2 monitors both said inactive input. Some other video where saying that I need to remove the cmos battery for about 15 secs to reset the BIOS. The only problem is I don't know where it's at!
I bought a pre-built by ibuypower back in 2021 it is the iBUYPOWER - ElementMR Gaming Desktop. Attached it a picture of the inside of my PC.
Any help wouod be great thanks!
TLDR: Need to take out cmos battery since i my display doesnt show after enabling boot and key PK but I cannot find it in my PC. Please help me find it Thanks!
