There was a little girl who really loved dolls. She had a big collection of them in her bedroom.
.One day, while she was browsing through a shop on her own, she spotted a really beautiful doll. It would make a perfect addition to her collection. She only hoped she had enough money to buy it.
“How much is that doll, ma’am?”, she asked the old woman behind the counter.
“This doll is not for sale”, replied the woman.
“But it’s so beautiful”, said the girl. “I really want it.”
The old woman became irritated. “I told you, it’s not for sale”, she said.
“Why not?” persisted the girl.
“Because this doll is cursed!”
“Well… That’s OK. I don’t mind.”
“I’m not going to sell it to you. But if you really must have it go ahead and take it. It’s yours. But if something bad happens, don’t blame me.”
“Yes, thank you!” said the girl, smiling as she grabbed the doll and walked out of the shop.
The little girl was so delighted to get the doll for free that she ran all the way home, carrying it in her arms.
When she got home to her apartment building she went into the lobby. It was deserted. She stood there waiting for the elevator to arrive.
The doors opened and she stepped inside, clutching her new doll tightly. The doors closed, but the elevator did not move.
The little girl got scared and began trembling.
She almost started crying as she thought to herself, “Is this the curse of the doll?”
Suddenly she felt the doll move in her arms.
Ever so slowly, its head turned to face her.
The little girl wanted to scream but she couldn’t make a sound.
The doll’s eyelids fluttered and opened.
It stared at her with its lifeless glass eyes.
Then its mouth opened and it said, “Push the button to go up, bitch!”

Good evening all.
I'm using a throwaway, because my main account is too public and for my own reasons I'd like to not have this on there. I apologize for that, and I hope it doesn't break any rules of this sub. If it does please remove, and pardon my dust.
Anyway, on to the reason I'm making this post.
A while ago, maybe 15 years ago at this point, my late grandfather had in his possession a 1945'ish Lee Enfield Longbranch No. 4 Mk I*. He verbally willed it to me before he passed rather suddenly to cancer. After his passing, my grandmother, who does not like guns of any type, asked my family to take it from her, and get it out of the house. My dad held on to it as I was under 18 at that time, and it was forgotten about until about a week ago while my parents were cleaning out some stuff.
Long story short is, I am now the owner of this rifle, but I have no idea how something like this would work to register this firearm here in CA. Since there is no paperwork on it, nothing about how my grandfather even came into possessing this rifle, and there was also, unfortunately nothing officially written about him evening willing it to me. I'm a Federal LEO, so I do carry, but it's my service issue Glock 19, and it does not have to be registered. I've never purchased or registered a firearm before, so the rules and regs are foreign to me. I've been and will continue to be doing my own research on this subject along side this post, too. I'm not one of those people. I assure you. I also will be contacting my local PD to get information as well, as soon as I have enough info to work with.
Please bestow upon me your wisdom and knowledge! What's my best course of action for this situation? What would you do if you were me?
(No, moving from CA isn't an option for me right now, gotta work with the cards I'm dealt here lol.)

This story is going to be short and bitter. Today management made me take a 1:1 assignment for a new resident who keeps eloping AND work a section, because the 1:1 person called in sick. I questioned how I was to provide constant 1:1 care AND take care of the other residents and was met with brick walls and basically told to figure it out. Even though that is absolutely an impossible expectation. Anyone else relate to this? I’m so tired. I want to go scoop ice cream for money instead. Except my wrists have carpal tunnel like most of us. So that’s a bummer.
