This happened just under 20 months ago in BC canada
I was hired for a short forestry contract. After 1 month of employment the employees decided to have a night out at the local bar.
It was karaoke night. I had too much to drink I will admit that, and was acting unprofessional in the sense that I was being loud and obnoxious.
The next day I was fired for personal harassment of one employee who was offended by me. I strongly believe I did nothing wrong other than that employee did not like the way I was acting. The employer stated I made comments that made that employee feel uncomfortable.
Just for context, I wanted to stay and continue to have a good time that night and the employee in question was adamant about me leaving and taking a ride home with them, which I did. Then the next day complains to HR and I am fired.
The only proof is her word saying I made them feel uncomfortable. Basically a their word against mine situation.
Now at the time I took it on the chin and moved on as there was only 1 or 2 weeks left in the contract and I had other opportunities.
Now this situation of being fired for personal harassment has come up in a background check as I apply for a federal government job and is preventing me from getting a job.
The only outcome I seek is the accusation of personal harassment be dropped. I do not seek my Job back or compensation, just the reason for being fired is false.
Can anyone provide me with advice?

J’ai commencé un nouveau travail à temps plein l’année dernière et j’ai précisé pendant l’entretien embauche que je pourrais potentiellement commencer mes études l’année prochaine.
Il y a quelques mois, j’ai encore précisé à mon chef lors d’un meeting que je voulais définitivement poursuivre mes études en informatique de gestion à l’HES à temps partiel dans un an et qu’il fallait que je réduise mon taux d’activité à 60%. Je connais un ami à moi qui fait la même chose et il galère même à 60%. Elle m’a dit non c’est pas possible et que je peux réduire au max à 80%.
L’erreur de ma part c’était que j’ai pas évoqué une telle réduction de taux d’activité pendant l’entretien et j’ai l’impression que je devrais voir ailleurs. L’employeur est vraiment top donc il serait dommage de passer à autre chose. Une autre option serait de postuler à un autre poste interne ou de tenter les études à 80%, mais j’ai peur que ça soit trop.
Comment devais-je, selon vous, agir envers mon employeur afin que ça soit fair pour tout le monde ?
