2025.01.18 10:20 Gods-Of-Calleva TIL, there are no standards in the boost 148 rear axle standard.
Silly me.
Needed a rear though axle for a boost 148 12mm standard, quick Google, order one from web, wait a couple of days, part arrives and of course it doesn't fit.
But how did we get here, someone intentionally designed the spec for 148 boost, did they just skip the meeting where they said "I know, let's just agree a thread pitch".
Anyway, takeaway lesson for the day is every frame is different, and the easiest thing in the world to standardise never was.
Again, silly me.

These are my partner’s dad’s old French navy uniform trousers from 1975 and they are extremely dear to him.
They are pure wool and flat on the front — they usually look very sharp/clean lines, but yesterday he ran for a train and noticed that the crotch area has misshapen and gone baggy. I know that might not be instantly noticeable from the photos (it’s hard to photograph!) but are there any small tweaks or adjustments we could do to bring the shape back?

This might be a very trivial issue to ask about in this community as it seems that it is for those who are working in more professional labs, but I am currently an undergrad student, and I forgot to put my assigned equipment from my organic chemistry lab class back in my locker after our last experiment.
We have a time limit, and it has been a while since my last lab class, so this lab was me readjusting, and I just completely forgot on my way out. I know it is bad etiquette to leave out equipment in the lab in general, but on top of that, it is supposed to be apart of the general flow and procedure of what lab students do. I feel really quite stressed about this mistake I made, and I feel bad as well, especially because it is so simple. Honestly, it makes me feel insecure because why did I forget to do the easiest thing when I often remember the more complicated stuff well.
Simple stuff is also important, and as someone who plans on working in labs and doing research, I am worried about making dumb mistakes like this in my career.
Since it is now the start of a long weekend, it will be difficult for my TA to do anything about this issue, so both inefficient and inconsiderate to email him. I do have a friend who is on campus (I do not) going to check on my stuff for me, but clearly, I do not want to continue in my education and career by having people cover for my mistakes.
Regardless, does anybody who has also gone through college undergrad labs have any advice for approaching this situation or organizing my thoughts in general. I want to avoid incidents like this in the future and gain some advice on other people who have likely been through undergrad labs and have experience in official labs.

 | I hope you all are using mobile or can zoom in because the letters are much smaller than I thought, Sorry about that. So, for context, this is the early rendition of the world map of my Sci Fi world. The map is the world in its current form, with 4 Nephalic Invasion, each with increasing amount of destruction and devastation. Those holes and craters are called Impact Zone, where the Gigantic tendrils crashed and latched onto the world as they started invading. (I'll get to Impact Zones on future maps) Anyways the first of these shows where the human kingdoms and nations are roughly before their complete annihilation after the 4th Nephalic Invasion. The second variation shows the factions or spheres of influence for the Hybrid nations that were formed after the 4th Nephalic Invasion. Note that not all Hybrids races have their own nation and some nations do allow other Hybrid to live within their own borders. I tried using a white outline for darker colored names, unsure if it's good or not. Anything here might change as I expand along. On this day has to be the most wildest times or so far at least… Well not too wild but still, the story I am going to tell you is going to be a bit disastrous.
I was with my family going on a train that was heading towards Flinders St or Kelior - Flinder St in my POV and then I would catch a tram to the Melbourne museum, but this wasn't going to be ordinary. You see on the train, there was a man who seemed to be 30-60 years old as an estimate and he didn't seem okay. He was repeatedly blowing raspberries and making these weird gestures. I don't know if he was under the influence of drugs, suffocating or mentally ill but if I had to guess it would be drugs. We then moved a couple seats back and was trying to ignore his actions but as more people got on he gotten more aggressive with his actions (he wasn't armed or posing any threats) and were kicking and banging on the chairs which then lead me to think that this man was suffering. Out of the 30 or 60 people who were in the carriage, one of them spoke to the train driver and after that, he was on the floor and wasn't moving…
2 helpful fellas were trying to awake him and calm him down, one of them were checking his pulse to see if it was steady and the whole thing gets elaborate. Although one of them might had taken it the wrong way and called the cops on him. So as you expect, when we arrived at Flinder St, cops were already waiting at the station and detained him. I don't clearly know what had happened but I'm pretty sure he got taken away. We then caught a tram to the museum while I tried to just forget about the whole situation but then we arrived there and we enjoyed ourselves over there.
Guess what?
We are not done here…
After spending time in the museum, I caught the same tram back to Flinders Street and on that Tram, a car got hit by it… So we all had to evacuate and walk to our destination. All of this happened in one day and that was the craziest double public transportation experience that I had experienced this year I'd say.

2025.01.18 10:20 Sea-Measurement5025 Muse was my cousin’s favorite band—she died 2 months ago by suicide. What songs should I listen to so I can feel connected with her?
Two months ago my cousin B. took her own life. She left behind a wife, two stepchildren, her mother (my poor aunt), and our whole grieving family.
She was a complicated woman with a lot of emotions, she wore a lot of masks. I stopped talking to her years ago due to her Borderline tendencies. I’ll never forget last week discovering that—exactly a year before she took her life—she had asked me to come to dinner with her (I never responded).
But I always loved her for being my queer mentor in life, she was almost 20 years older than me and full of so much laughter, fire, generosity, even despite the darkness. She was a staunch advocate for queer rights and would literally smack you if you said anything bad about LGBTQ+ folks haha
Now I’m trying to connect with her spirit. I remember she loved songs like “Madness” and “Starlight” and would never fail to see Muse in concert. One of my goals now is to see Muse live so I can carry her spirit there with me.
Are there other songs you think she would have related to (even if they’re painful)? Any songs that would help me feel close to her again?
