My boyfriend had a tortie when I first met him 3 years ago. He’s always had issues with her peeing outside of the litter box. It isn’t ever a constant issue but it happens in waves. When I first met him, she would pee on the same spots on the carpet of his rental apartment. We assumed the previous renters had pets and she was smelling something she didn’t like.
We have lived together in two separate homes since then. The first one, she didn’t have many accidents at but when she did they seemed to be predictable. It would often happen when we were out of town for the weekend and she was obviously not happy about it.
The current house we are in, she was accident free for awhile. Then she started peeing on one spot near the fireplace. We tried different sprays to deter her, got an additional litter box, took her to the vet, increased her feedings, etc. Finally we put her food over the spot and that has seemed to work. Until now. She now is going on a spot on a rug we bought when we moved in. We keep cleaning it and spraying it but honestly she’s making the house smell. Has anyone else had these kinds of issues? We feel like we’ve tried everything and constantly cleaning up after her is getting to be a lot.
She is about 5 years old. Very food motivated. She has never shown much interest in traditional cat toys. Additional things we have tried would include calming collars, having her checked for UTIs and rearranging the litter boxes. Our vet said she is healthy and has chopped it up to anxiety. She offered to prescribe Prozac but that seems like a bit much. Any advice is appreciated!

It cringed me with my pretentious behavior, and I don’t do it anymore though, but I’m seeking advice on ways to craft sentences without overusing ‘fancy’ words for my work to be good. I’ve read works with simple words, and yet, they managed to intimidate me, and they were easy to comprehend. What can I do? I know I can read books, but is there more?

I (31f) and my partner 41(m) have been dating for a few years now. I love him dearly, he’s creative, compassionate in many ways and hardworking. We have begun the conversation about moving in and next steps, but I am increasingly concerned about his relationship with his angemental health. It’s very erratic in my opinion and often seems to come out of almost nowhere. Big overreactions to mundane conversations where suddenly he’s playing devils advocate or just defensive over nothing. Or extremely sensitive to perceived rejection. For example, I don’t compliment him the way I normally would because I’ve had a distracted day, suddenly he shuts down and sulks. And I’m left scrambling to try and understand how I have hurt the person I love the most. And I’m trying to be direct and address things head on and that will also make him shut down. I desperately want to be a good partner and supportive, but these quiet mood swings feel really destabilising for me because I have my own issues with rejection and people pleasing. I do know that my partner is struggling with depression but this is coupled with some erratic behaviour around other things has left me wondering if it’s potentially Bipolar and I find myself on this sub quite a lot. Does anyone have advice for how to navigate this, we live in England so private mental health care is probably his only option for proper diagnosis, but it’s not an option for us at this time.

Hey everyone,
I've recently moved to Sweden from the netherlands. I'm renting in Lindesberg kommun and I'm looking to buy a house in the coming months. We are looking for a farm like house, with 10ish hectares of ground and room to keep some horses. We chose the area around Lindesberg because we really like the feel of it. Friendly feel,Rural, but not too far from facilities. As a rule of thumb I want to be within 2 hours of stockholm, just in case I can't find work closer. Looking around on hemnet I found some nice houses, but I also saw some interesting ones in other areas that made me doubt my initial choice. I specifically noticed some properties around the Heby area that looked very nice, but they are generally a lot cheaper than what I see around Lindesberg, even though Heby is a bit closer to Stockholm. Is anyone familiar with this area? Are there some downsides I am not seeing? In general I think I'm just a bit afraid of choosing the wrong area. I know from the netherlands that there can be big differences between areas that are quite close together. Any tips or thoughts are appreciated.
