Hello drummers of Reddit:
I've always wanted to learn drums, but never really was able to. I am now finally at a place where I can learn drums. I've just been tapping random desks and surfaces consciously and subconsciously all this while.
I did go through the older threads that had tips for absolute beginners like me.
But the question I have now is I have no clue how to read sheet music. Like my brain literally freezes everytime I try to comprehend it. So how essential is it for me to know that in order to be able to succeed at drumming. Do i absolutely have to do it or is it optional or literally any advice on that.

2025.01.18 19:19 alsgirl2002 Mattress delivery service cracked my flooring and denied my claim
While bringing my new king mattress up the stairs the delivery guys dropped the mattress twice and dragged the mattress up the stairs stairs briefly cracking my laminate flooring pretty bad. I filed a claim, their person came out and two weeks later I get a poorly worded denial in a handwritten envelope. The letter is typewritten on plain paper, no letter head. They admitted to dragging the mattress up the stairs but say the mattress is too soft and light to crack my laminate flooring. I don’t want to pay an attorney to write a rebuttal but it’s possible I may have to replace 14 stairs and the 300 square foot loft because that flooring all matches. What do I need to do to rebut this denial or am I SOL?

I spent years working customer service jobs that wanted faster service and required promotion of self serve options. I watched opportunities to stay dry up. Now AI will just speed up the process. I can see most service chats turn to AI bots that humans can’t tell the difference. Some drive-thrus is a customer service line. Not the person in the store.

26, no girlfriend, still a virgin, feel so far behind. I can't help but feel like it's "too late", I have friends starting families with their long-term partners, others who've lived a "wild life" that's now behind them.
Sometimes I'll get motivated and tell myself I just need to put in 110% effort and I can turn my life around and that one day I'll start living a fulfilling life with relationships and hookups. I know people will say "there's still time", and I really want to believe that, but it feels I'm swimming against the current and it gets faster every year. Every year that goes by and I don't have a relationship I fall more and more out of sync with the general population and start to feel like more and more of an outcast.
