if I were to define a beginner drone user, I might say that they are more interested in the results. the still pictures and videos from easy and safe flights. They want to be able to easily share those images.
they want the process of flying to be as simple as possible. They very much like the pre-programmed flights... dronie, circle, follow, etc. They want a durable drone. they like the idea of the blades being encased and safe. They would rather spend only a few hundred dollars for 'good enough' rather than a thousand for advanced. They want something they can hand over to their kids to use. are not that interested in accessories. They wish the drone were as quiet as possible. re-charged quickly. not require any special care, maintenance or handling. want it to be easy to pack to take along on a vacation. They definitely don't want to have to register or comply with Federal requirements. (ergo 249g limit).
flying is just a method of getting the camera in place. racing and doing loops are not important.
it's all about the pictures and not the flying.
this is somewhat comparable to the history and development of point-and-shoot cameras.
