2025.01.18 23:13 GunDance Why does competitive matchmaking selectively choose what types of decks you play against?
I have been playing a Bant control deck built around the green and white Overlords. Since selecting this deck I have played quite a few of the Esper pixie decks, and several other Overlord control decks. I switch to an extremely aggressive blue/white enchantment deck built around [[Optimistic Scavenger]] and [[Entity Tracker]]. As soon as I make the swap I'm against RDW/Boros Mice/Azorious Reanimator with [[Abhorrent Oculus]]
My point is less about why it decides to select certain decks vs. other decks, but why would anyone want this to be affected at all? For the truly best matchmaking experience, why is WOTC adding any type of element where the type of deck you select is determining your opponent's deck. It's been this way for seemingly a long time and I can't understand why it is just accepted. Between this and the shuffler you are just adding in variables that don't need to be there.
What are people's thoughts on the way that this feels? Am I reading too much into it?

I just finished binging and honestly this season was a lot better eg animation wise, story wise and pacing. They fleshed out a few characters more and pushed things in ways I didn't predict. BUT ain't no way Belmonts are human I'm sorry because going TOE TO TOE with a vampire goddess who has insane speed feats and WINNING and like about to finish her off is insane there is no way these belmonts are human. Also richtor has got to be my favourite ice user in fiction his use of ice is honestly so fun to watch but also super practical. Ps I loved the moonlight greatsword that he used to finish drolta

Hey I'm looking for this fanfic that I read a while back ago and after like 4 hours of searching I can't find it.
Its was a Jaune centric fic that takes place slightly before but mostly after the fall.
Some key plot points I remember:
He gets launched away like in cannon but tries to get back
He ends up finding Cardin fighting the white fang
He saves Cardin
Card in gives him a grenade bundle thing that he uses to fight Banesaw
He makes it back just in time to see Pyrrha die
Something happens and then we cut to him in the hospital or medical tent
Everyone is gone somewhere else and he's alone
He does a mission for goodwich where he goes into a grim-infested vale to get the arm of a council member to re-activate the defense system
He saves some little girl during this from some grim that can phase through the walls
That is all I can remember. I would appreciate if someone could find it.
