2025.01.18 23:49 Yahtzee8604 Diesel heater
Used a 12v diesel heater last night. Set up outside the tent and piped in the door. What an amazing difference other makes with dry heat in there. We ran it with a deep cycle 12v boat battery. I live in alaska so it get cold. But that dry heat made all the difference. Nothing was wet. You could touch the walls. For the most part no worries about co2 levels clean dry air. Hard to go back.

2025.01.18 23:49 butch_babe Sticker price at HYS vs $$$$ at T20?
Keeping this intentionally vague for anonymity!
If one’s goal is something other than biglaw, is it absolutely ridiculous to theoretically pay sticker at a T3? Or would it be ridiculous to turn down a T3 for a T20? Or is there some more nuance?
Feeling a little lost here. I know the answer is always going to be “it depends” but I’d love to hear anyone’s thoughts.

Looking at several hybrid types:
- Toyota Grand Highlander - Toyota Highlander - Santa Fe Hybrid - Lexus 350H hybrid
In rough priority order. Any thoughts on the Grand Highlander? Seems like good mileage and the price is pretty decent.

2025.01.18 23:49 WorkChemical2650 Engineered hardwood floors always look dirty
Can someone help me clean my floors once and for all A year ago we got new floors installed. They are maple engineered hardwood floors. I vacuum daily and mop almost daily, my house is kept and maintained very clean, and I even hire a professional cleaner once a month. However, my floors ALWAYS have stains like the attached photos on them- in all rooms and areas. You see it most in a glare, and they look like footprints but they don’t come off if I wipe them away with a damp cloth or even mopping doesn’t fully get them off and they reappear after a day. It’s almost as if it’s like ingrained dirt? What should I do to get my floors actually clean. I’ve tried three different types of mops and nothing works. submitted by WorkChemical2650 to HardWoodFloors [link] [comments] |

2025.01.18 23:49 Agitated_Yak8521 Is this a normal blood clot?
I'm undergoing a lot of extractions, extracted all my bottom teeth in a bit more than a month and a half and I have to extract five more before I can wear a denture. I'm a 31 years old male, always struggled with depression, and as a stupid teen, I did not care about my oral higiene. Friday at around 5:40 PM I got my right upper wisdom tooth extracted, and today, at 12:48 AM, the blood clot looks like this. https://preview.redd.it/whs2olrpaude1.jpg?width=657&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ef2f49c8af96ecbe232498fb7c1e997532d47695 As you can see it is pretty big and kinda grey in color (note that I drank milk not long before I took the picture). Is it normal that it is that big and that greyish in color? Thanks for all the helpful answers. submitted by Agitated_Yak8521 to askdentists [link] [comments] |
2025.01.18 23:49 _ramy Tips for job hunt in Germany
Hi everyone, I'm a 26M and about to graduate in a few months with a M.Sc. in Biotechnology (studied in English) here in Germany. As a non-EU citizen and someone who speaks German only at an intermediate level (B1+), I am already in the job hunt phase for after graduation and want to stay in Germany in the future too.
As it seems to me so far, job opportunities are hard to find (especially for Biotech) and even when I apply I get rejected without getting an interview or no response. It is a bit discouraging as I optimized my CV as much as I could and used AI to help me find keywords and points to emphasize in my cover letters (but not to make them, I write them on my own).
I mostly look for jobs on companies' websites or on LinkedIn.
So I'm starting to wonder if I am maybe missing something, or maybe I can get some tips for job search in general?
I also hesitate to apply for jobs that have as a requirement German language (they usually have also English as a requirement), especially the ones where the level is not really explicit (e.g. Verhandlungsichere Deutschkentnisse), what level is intended by sentences like this?
For biotech people, I have a master in Environmental Biotech, specialized in Cell Bio in Germany and doing my thesis in Bioprocessing so I am pretty much flexible.
Would be grateful for any help! :)

2025.01.18 23:49 tmp2x Prometric Issue
Hi all, just finished my LSAT remotely. I had finished the exam and then got exited from the LSAC portal back into prometric where it tells you to rip up the scratch papers in camera view. I did this and then clicked exit (or so I thought) and then really instinctively went to close my laptop. As soon as I did it I realized maybe I should’ve waited to see if I actually exited prometric first, but I immediately opened my laptop and saw a “security issue” blurb following by the application closing. I’m panicked rn cuz I did finish the whole test and exited from LSAC, hoping this is not something too serious

2025.01.18 23:49 vvooff I probably experienced a friends dream in third person 😳
This is super weird, but it has happened several times lately that I dream about something without actually being there, but more like I’m observing it like a camera. Without any feelings or attachment at all.
So tonight a dreamed about a friend of mine.. She was hooking up with a dude and without going into detail, it ended in horror.
I just talked to my friend on the phone and I just remembered the dream, so I told her about it. She also told me she woke up tonight crying and she never does that. She can’t remember her dream tho. She’s not that mindful about her dreams or even in general..
But the fact that she woke up crying is not the only reason I think I observed her dream..
She asked me to describe the dude.. so I did. And while I was describing him, her face changed drastically (we were FaceTiming).
She says that she knows this dude.. (I have NO idea about who this dude is)
So I said.. “Okay, if my description seems familiar, show me a picture of him”
And so she did.. and it was that guy! That has to be the guy I saw in the dream!
We talked more about their relation and the more we talked about it, it seemed like what she experienced in the dream (or actually, what I probably observed in her dream), was some kind of unprocessed feelings about their connection.
We talked more about it and it doesn’t seem that important, so I have no idea why I was there to witness this horror scene, but it was interesting regardless 👁️
I started to write me dreams down almost exactly 1 month ago and have done the tapes consistently for about 2 months now.. I don’t know if that has anything to do about it
Do you have any similar experiences? 🌟

2025.01.18 23:49 Chlorinewater77 So what do you think we can expect from Creature Commandos season 2 In terms of characters appearing and a main story?
I personally hope we get a similar story to the suicide squad or season 1 hopefully with more and longer episodes and more unique comic characters, and I think by the time it releases we will already have had enough projects to justify more setting up for the future maybe even the Justice league a bit? And if james Gunn sticks with the way he’s been building the DCU’s world I think it will work better since more will be already pre-established, and also I hope the season will be more widely received and recognized considering the success of the first. submitted by Chlorinewater77 to DCU_ [link] [comments] |

2025.01.18 23:49 AbyssJc Acer Aspire One - BIOS Password
I recently got a used Acer Aspire One D270 mini laptop, and since I had nothing else to do, I decided to give it a second chance by installing an extra gig of RAM, upgrading its hard drive, and installing a new OS.But while trying to access the BIOS in order to install the new OS, I noticed that there was a password that denied any access to it. I'm not sure who the original owner is, so I'm not able to contact them for help. Do you think there's a way to bypass or eliminate that password, or any other way to install the OS without accessing the BIOS?

2025.01.18 23:49 HuckWritesBooks How to catch a thief when only the guilty have the clean hands
Hi folks!
I’m writing a book on world building tips and practical exercises, especially drawing from Korean myths and folklore.
And I just wanted to share some bits that might interest you, as I thought things from another culture can be a good inspiration when building a unique world for your story.
The one I wanted to share about today is shamans in Korea with a little folktale.
Story:
Every corner of the world boasts its unique form of witchcraft and sorcery. In Korea, we have something called “Moo”. No, has nothing to do with cows. Actually, “Moo” is how you read this Chinese character: 巫. The top bar and the bottom bar each symbolize heaven and earth, and things in between are a person, a shaman, dancing to mitigate both worlds. “Moo” can mean both the shamans and what they do: telling fortunes and doing some “Good” to appease the deceased. And no, this “good” has nothing to do with charity or anything; it’s a name of a religious ceremony, related to a lot of food, music, and dancing. In Korea, these shamans have been more often called “Moo Dahng” rather than just “Moo” (lucky me, as I don’t have to distinguish them from lovely calls of our bovine friends every time they appear). And as many sought to use superpowers for good, there were also those who wanted to misuse them for harm. It is said that some Moo Dahngs, corrupted, do these evil-doers’ bids (oh, I have a hell lot of spooky stories related to this!), and their curse is called “Yang Bop.” Once upon a time in a small, quiet village, there went a serial thefts and people got really upset. Although many villagers hadn’t got a clue who might be the thief, a clever woman thought up a plan. “Come to my house in the darkest hour of the night,” she said. “I met a famous Moo Dahng, and she taught me how to Yang Bop the thief. If someone gets afraid and doesn’t show up, we’ll have to conclude that the person is guilty.” So everyone was forced to visit her in the moonless night. Over the shaky murmurs of the people, only the distant owls hooted. As it was so dark, people couldn’t see each other’s faces outside their immediate nose’s reach. However, the woman prohibited them from lighting anything, telling that it would ruin the dark magic of the Moo Dahng. “Here,” the woman called, prompting everyone to shift their gaze towards her, guided only by her voice. “This urn is what the Moo Dahng gave me. In it, there is a frog: cursed, but cursed just right for us. It cannot eat anything but the human flesh corrupted by wrongdoing. It is starving to death and it shall bite.” People murmured. Some people were excited about the thief’s imminent capture; others worried things might go wrong and they might get hurt for no reason. I mean, you cannot always count on a frog’s judging ability! The woman called out again. “Now, you people all line up and put your hands in the urn one by one!” And people lined up and putting their hands in the urn. You could imagine the peer pressure! But the thief, hiding among the crowd, exhaled a sigh of relief. ‘Stupid woman,’ they thought. ‘It is so dark here that even if my turn comes and I have to dip my hand in that horrible thing, I can just stay in front of it for a moment and move on.’ After all the villagers were supposed to have dunk their hands in the urn, the people got dismayed as nobody cried out in pain. They complained, “hey, what is this joke?” “As far as I’m concerned, there was no amphibian in that urn, much less a cannibalistic one!” “Yeah! It was just water!” Then, the woman said, “you speak truly, villagers, as the thief will not be caught by some smart frog—how could you believe such a thing? You dudes are so naïve—but by fear of being caught.” Suddenly, she lighted a torch and raised her hand high in the air. “Everyone, now, show your hands!” Our thief, among others, raised their hand. And voila, he found out that all the other people there had black hands. Only his were gleaming white under the torchlight. “Aha!” the woman said. “What was there in the urn was not a frog. It was pure black ink, and only those too frightened to get Yang Bopped by the frog could get their hands clean.” She smirked, satisfied with the irony that only the guilty would have clean hands. There’s another version of this kind of Yang Bop. They requested everyone to place tiny notes with their names on them in a cauldron. They said that when a Moo Dahng pours water in the cauldron and boils it, only the thief’s name would float. So the same trick goes: only the thief doesn’t drop in their name and gets caught. Ah, the good old days when thieves stole, but at least they weren’t so brazen!
Story snippet:
There are various kinds of Moo Dahng. Some are like Levites in the Bible, who inherit their position from their ancestors and serve as community shamans. Others receive “Shin Nay Rim”, which means the descension of a deity into their body. When this happens, a person who was once normal suddenly begins to see things beyond this world—ghosts, the past, and the future. They often dream of ghosts, where those spirits demand they abandon all their worldly concerns and serve them. If they refuse, the marked Moo Dahng and sometimes their family get sick, go bankrupt, and basically go through hell until they obey. There are more female Moo Dahngs than males, and males are specifically called Bahk Soo. There is such a vast system of Moo (again, not cows!), and I really can’t wait to tell you everything!
Hope you enjoy the story!
