 | The wife and I have had a rough new year. We had a doxxie reserved from a local breeder, but the week before we were set to pick him up our kitty of 13 years had a stroke. We decided to cancel our reservation (she’s a very popular local breeder so the puppy was reassigned in about 30 minutes) and care for our kitty. Despite repeated vet visits and doing everything we could, our Tigger passed away in our arms a week later. A couple of weeks later, we visited a local shelter to make some donations and hang out with some fur babies. We happened to find a doxxie that had just come in through intake, fell in love, and ran to the parking lot to put in an application. Sadly we were somehow too late and the doxxie was already adopted. The following week, I went to the local Petsmart to get some stuff and saw this little lady! After 10 seconds of meeting her I was smitten! She’s a 5 year old doxxie mix with an unknown story, she was fixed a week ago and had puppies at some point, but wound up in a shelter before being taken in by the rescue for a few weeks. She has been an absolute Angel!! I have never been a big dog person, but after a few hours with this baby I called work and took a week off to get her properly settled in her new forever home.
