Hey gang. I decided to do dry January just to prove to myself that I could do it, and see how long I can stay sober (from alcohol) in general. I have had depression my whole life but usually when I'm taking the right meds and nothing else in life is really going wrong I function fairly well. My anxiety and depression have SKY ROCKETED. Since being sober. I'm having urges, feelings, and thoughts that I haven't had in many many years. The thing is I don't even drink that much in general. Not every day anyways. Anyone else experience this? have any helpful comments tips, words of encouragement.

Like the title mentions I'm interested in the modern strategy for small~medium apps to implement in app ads. I know the current hot monetization strategy is subscriptions, but I'm still convinced ads on a freemium account to help push a user to convert to a subscription can still work.
With that being said, what are the best strategies for ads in your app? I love the way apps like reddit integrates ads, making ads blend in, camouflaging them almost as actual content in the app. I'm interested in implementing something like this and I believe it's possible with native ad solutions on platforms like AdMob and Applovin. Banner and full screen ads are also incredibly successful in games, but not sure how they'd work in other apps for social media or education.
In 2025, are users more likely to stop using an app because of ads? Or will it help push users towards a premium account?

I have always been interested in what I am pursuing right now. I have not wanted to go any other path even slightly. But the past few weeks I have found myself questioning if the stress is going to be worth it all.
I feel the circumstances are not great for people in the research field, especially something more science oriented than engineering. Now, I have always acknowledged this fact and been completely okay with it. Let's just say I am starting to be attacked with the thoughts that tell me life is short and there is so much more outside the lab that I want to do. It also feels like it is too late to switch tracks now... I still cannot fathom it.
Have you been in this sticky situation?

2025.01.19 04:11 throw-away-76543 Another “Smosh” Dream, but this time I was waking up laughing because of how dumb it was.
We just got back from the grocery store because I’m making dessert for a party tomorrow, and I went to take a nap. I slept longer than I intended. I did, however, thought that this Smosh dream was fucking funny. It was all about merch and buying some dumb hoodies and shirts.
In the dream, I am living in this brown house with a huge tiled kitchen. I got some foam dust on the floor and the already baked chicken that was sitting on the counter. I leave there, start some laundry. The washer was leaking all on the floor. My friend comes home and she asks “what happened”. I explain, as I’m scooping cold laundry water back into the washer with my barehands. She tosses me a package that is practically bursting at the seams with a few different shirts.
Let me enlighten you with what these shirts say:
- A dark green short sleeved shirt with a yellow print of a banana with arms and legs (reminiscent of the Peanut Butter Jelly Time Banana) standing on an old 80s or 90s computer that says “Banana In This Bitch” in comic stans.
- A Brown long sleeve zip up with Smosh in yellow on the front, but the back is a large picture of a tatted man that says “Daddy’s Got Ink”.
- A Hockey Jersey that is mostly white with black accents. In red letters on the back it says “Bitches Be Bold” with the number 69 on the back. On the front it says “Bitch Tiddies” with two red bows where the nipples are.
- A Purple Hoodie with the words “Witchcest!” on the chest, and “Witches Be Fuckin!” In hot pink on the right arm. A cauldron with green liquid spilling over with dildos, wands, and rabbits in them. Apparently in my dream, Smosh came out with another sex rap song called “Witchcest!”. (I swear this alternate universe shit is terrifyingly funny).
- Finally there was a baby blue shirt with pink and white bubble writing that said “You can Topp me!” on the front.

I was so worried that I could've been a predator that I basically tried to find a way to test that theory. I even remembered something from the past which I found when I was 12 or 13 and it was this comic that had an anime minor naked and at the time I don't think I fully understood and then I decided to try and research it again after years have gone by just to see how'd I feel now and obviously, I'm ashamed to see people create things like this, but am I really? Did I really do this to see how many atrocious people there are? Did I really do this to see how negatively I'd react? These things just have me worry so much that I could've gotten in trouble for it, despite it all being fictional beings. Am I really a monster?
