- How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? Battery life incredibly high priority, build quality, form factor, performance
- How important is weight and thinness to you? Prefer lighter and thinner for easier time taking to work and university.
- Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 14-15 inches preferred
- Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. No, 90% of the use will be OneNote and PowerPoint
- If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? N/A no gaming
- Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Needs to be a responsive good quality touch screen that supports stylus use so I can take notes easily and a good keyboard + touchpad would be ideal as well.
- Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. Looking for a new touchscreen laptop to use almost exclusively for study and teaching. Math is one of my subjects so I'd like to be able to do all of my working on the laptop rather than in physical workbooks. Will need ports such as hdmi for connecting to projectors when working in schools but am open to missing it if there is a reasonable connection hub style accessory that isn't overpriced. Preference is 14inch for lightweight portability to take to uni with me and a battery life that lasts a full day of work/study is a must.

I've been taking a look at this DS lite that i received recently that's been been showing signs of a couple common issues, however the causes seem to be anything but the usual suspects, going off what little information i've found.
The board in question does not power on or charge - when plugged in, the orange light flashes for only about half a second, and then blinks off. Both fuses, all inductors, diode D7 and resistor R31 have been checked to be good, the power switch is tested good (pin 1 N/O, pin 4N/C) and when inserting a known good battery, 3.8V can be seen on the board end. I'm unsure what might still be left to cause this, as this seems to be most anything in between the power contact, battery, and powesound IC.
Additionally, however, it appears that even with a good battery, the board does not power on at all. No green light appears, even for a moment. Everything I've read suggests that even if the charging is bad, and even if the screens and/or wifi module are disconnected, it should still blink for a short moment before powering off due to the missing components. Even when attempting to power on by jumping the relevant test points on the motherboard, no response is seen.
At this point, should i just assume the power IC itself is cooked?
