**Background:**
Hi everyone, I’m a 2024 high school graduate from Japan. I moved to Canada for my studies, and now I’m in a gap year trying to figure out my next steps. I’m planning to study in Australia for two years after graduation, with the goal of securing a work visa and eventually obtaining permanent residency. I’ve narrowed down my university options to two in Australia: the University of Sydney (USYD) and the University of Technology Sydney (UTS).
While I’ve considered studying in India, Canada, and the US, Australia seems like the best fit for me right now. I’ve already experienced high school in Canada and I think a foundation year at a Canadian University is a waste of time. The US is too expensive, and without an SAT score, I don’t think I’d get into a top university there. I also thought about going to community college in the US and transferring to a university later, but I’ve realized it’s highly competitive to do so, so I decided against that option. However, I might still visit the US as an exchange student for a year to make connections. As for India, I’m planning a visit to explore universities, but I’m not sure I’ll like the living environment there.
I’ve already received a conditional offer from USYD with a 20% scholarship but haven’t applied to UTS yet. Just started the game and am only through the first boss. I've been playing the game with english subs and Japanes Audio, can't help but feel like that the subtitles doesn't match whats being said in Japanese good deal of the time. It probably doesn't effect the over all story stelling, but I am wondering if its just in my head?

2025.01.19 09:23 Impossible-Cat5919 Does anyone here feel that Stanley Wolpert's book 'Nehru: A Tryst With Destiny' is less of a biography and more of a... Wattpad fanfiction?

I haven't read the entire book; in fact, I've just read the first two chapters, but the book feels... weirdly sensual. It's not in the face, but there's an undertone of objectifying Nehru's looks and voice and even the time Nehru got beaten by his father Motilal(yk in those days, child abuse was the expected norm), and there's a lot of contemplating about Nehru's probable relationships starting from his homeschooling days. Like, I'm not denying that Nehru was a charming man; he was, but Wolpert kind of keeps repeating that point.
Perhaps maybe I'm acting like a Victorian prude(which would be surprising since I read and write fanfiction on AO3), but when I read a historical non-fiction, I do not expect it to read like an emo teen's Tumblr post. I'm not saying Wolpert should've kept the entire thing clinical and 'pure' and written only about Nehru's political life- that would not be a biography, then. A biography must touch every aspect of a human's life, including their romantic life, but... idk man the book is kinda weird ngl. At least the first two chapters are. Maybe I should read the next chapters.
